Ayo African Restaurant

I have came to this family owned restaurant about 3 times and let me tell you I'm never disappointed. We usually always get the egusi soup with the fufu, I feel like the portions are great and you can definitely share it as well. The service is super friendly and you can tell it's a family owned business the why they great and just make sure everything came out good.

Hello, you may remember me because I ordered and paid $36+ dinner at your restaurant and had to leave right there on the table and walk out, because it is pure unadulterated rubbish. Quite possibly the worst food I've ever tasted. Stop deceiving the public if you cannot make decent food.

I ordered the Egusi Soup with fufu and after seeing another patrons plate from a distance I inquired as to what he had ordered and the host said Catfish with beans and plantains and I ordered that as well. I had both dishes to go. The Egusi with fufu was hot, freshly prepared and delicious. It had ample chunks of beef as well and some smoked or dried fish it appeared. I also had one surprise piece of fish that had dozens of super sharp tiny bones in it. I had to take my time spitting them out and the experience was not pleasant. I don't think the restaurant owner should serve fish with those fine little needle like bones. It could open him up to liability because what if a bone lodges into someone's throat? Many years ago my aunt had that happen to her and she ended up in the emergency room. The bone had turner sideways in her throat and could not be dislodged. However again the Egusi was very flavorful and it definitely had a strong kick to it with the spice. It was very spicy. The only bad things were the initial smell when I removed the top (it smelled like dried meat and sometimes those are not pleasant smells) and the tiny fish bones. The second dish I ordered I really couldn't eat. I was horrified to see what the dish looked like up close. It was just a hot stew mess with a bunch of strange textures and tastes all combined into this strange mush of a dish. The catfish was pretty good. It was stewed. But rhe rest was not edible. The restaurant was ok. It was nothing extravagant but it was nice for a date. It was dark on the inside. The man running the register was nice. The cooks appeared to be friendly. I will return.

Pretty good restaurant that's open when Toyin 4miles away is closed. So that's a plusI usually get their ofada stew with beef which is red and spicy. This can be shut or miss. It was great at first but lately it's been NOT spicy or salty. It's better to order in advance of pickup to reduce your wait time. The egusi is good and so is the edikaikong stew. Not too much a fan of their rice.

This place has been on my radar to try for quite some time, unfortunately for me any African restaurants are a bit of a drive. But, I decided to make the trip one rainy day and I must say I was not disappointed. Inside was clean, the service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. I ordered the Efo Riro with Mackeral and it was good, the fish was cooked well. I got there fairly early and there was no one in the restaurant so I didn't have to wait too long for my food. It came out hot, fresh, and the right amount of spice. I'll definitely be back to try my go to Ayamase and other items.

Ok so African food! I normally drive very far away from home to get it. However I decided to give this place a try seeing as it's only 15mins from home!!! It was ok nothing to go back about. My egusi was watery and had more tripe than egusi so I had more than enough fufu and tripe but no egusi. They didn't portion that right. The moi moi was ok I've have better and the suya wasn't anything to talk about. More than likely because of pricing I'll take that 45-1hr to the other side of town to get my eugsi!!! But the service was cool I will say that

I love the goat meat I purchased yesterday. Oooh it was Soo tender and tasted delicious.

This dish was not, particularly my cup of tea. I didn't mind the fufu; it was pretty tasteless and more of a texture thing and something to hold the soup, I believe. But the soup didn't have much flavor as I thought. First, I was kind of paused when choosing a "meat" because I didn't really want one. Once I got it, the texture and flavor of the fish were ok. It was firmer than I thought, which was good. I just expected to be wowed by strong flavors, and I wasn't--I kind of needed salt. However!!!! I would still go back and try other things from this place. Like I said the dish wasn't bad, just not what I expected. Jollof Rice: drier than I expected. Thought it would be more fluffy and flavorful, it was not.

If your looking for delicious fufu just come here , I love this place that it became a problem. I shouldn't spend my money here but it's great food . 1.50 for a single egg is ridiculous but I still tried it with egusi with tripe snd goat
