Went back to Avec river north last week and had one of the best meals in Chicago. The salted cod, short rib hummus, and pasta were the best bites I've had in a long time. Service was fantastic, too. The atmosphere was lively and fun. The dates were also amazing and the calamari was very good, but probably would've been the one to skip since we over ordered just a bit!Truly a 5 star place and a go to spot for a fun night out.

Loved every dish I had here! The farm salad was very refreshing and like the mix of the sauce. I also really enjoyed the chorizo stuffed dates -- I loved the mix of the sweet and savory though it was a little on the salty side. Other standouts were the chicken shwarma and the pork shoulder. The honey profiterole was also a way to end the meal!Highly recommend checking this place out!

Loved the food. Everything was so delicious There was some great flavors in the medjool dates. Had a spice to it. The pizza was perfectly balanced with all toppings. Great cocktails Service was nice. The staff (other than our waiter) were insanely nice and accommodating The place has simple decor which was very inviting.

Absolutely excellent!! So creative! Wonderful Mediterranean fusion, executed perfectly. Every little thing tasted great, but the highlights were the tagliatelle and the tagine, both of which were delightfully tangy and savory. Service was really friendly, food came out quickly and well timed, and the patio vibes were impeccable. Highly highly recommend for an upscale, family style outing! I went with my family and it was perfect!

Went to Avec for brunch at 1030 on a Saturday and it was surprisingly empty. We had a reservation but didn't seem too necessary. I started with a Bloody Mary and wow they have a great mix! Perfect amount of spice and garnished with pickle, olive, salami, pepper jack, and a pepper. No picture but worth trying! I ordered the bialy for the table based on a previous picture showing very small bagels. This was much larger than anticipated and I had enough for 3 meals myself. The lebnah was my favorite topping but the white fish spread was surprisingly good. The restaurant is beautiful and filled with plants. Service was good but nothing to write home about.

Placing a reservation for brunch is recommended, so I called and made one for Saturday. Upon arrival, we were welcomed and I thought the restaurant was fresh with a homestyle feel on the inside. The menu had some good brunch selections with a surprising amount of vegetarian options and meat could be added to many selections for an additional price. We started with a couple of mimosas. The waiter was kind enough to let us sample one before ordering. We ordered a blood orange mimosa and a strawberry mimosa. The strawberry was sweet enough to enjoy. I had the spiced shakshuka and the papas bravas. The shakshuka had a rich and colorful look to it, but the flavor was not as bold as it looked. The papas had a good crisp texture on the outside and again appeared more flavorful than they were. The french toast was not likable at all. I think it varied too far away from traditional french toast. The portion sizes were reasonable. I found the menu items to be a little pricey. I was a bit disappointed with my brunch at Avec. My expectations were so high, but the food didn't live up to it. I wouldn't come back here for brunch, but I would definitely give their dinner a try.

We had a reservation on a Friday night, and we were able to be seated immediately. The main room of avec is designed well and has an upscale but relaxed vibe. We sat in the private dining room overflow area, and it was quite warm. The menu has a lot of options, and the waiter suggested we order 5 dishes for 4 people, as the portions are generous. I would tend to agree! We most liked the salad and the cornmeal crusted jalapeños and scallions, but all the dishes were good. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and we were seated immediately. Very beautiful and aesthetic inside.We ordered the deluxe focaccia, bacon wrapped chorizo stuffed dates, and shakshouka. The focaccia was a thin flatbread with a cheese spread and truffle oil. Really good, but also really rich and filling. I am a sucker for bacon wrapped dates and these lived up to my expectations. Big portion and the sauce it was in was delicious. The shakshouka was AMAZING. It contained dollops of hummus and I believe 4 eggs, two of which had runny yolks and two were completely cooked -- would have liked all of them to be runny/jammy. Portion sizes were very generous and the food is filling. We ordered three dishes to share family style for three people and had leftovers.
