I was delighted to find an all-vegan bakery in Austin, and even more delighted when I arrived and saw it was female-owned and punk rock themed! The place is small and unsuspecting from the outside, but super cool on the inside. I treated myself to the Laven-Derketa cupcake, and it was super affordable and tasty. I hope to be back to try more items and flavors! Food: 10/10 Drinks: N/A Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 7/10 Vegan-friendly: 10/10

This little bakery is a neighborhood gem. It's super quirky and perfect for the spooky season. When my sister and I went the selection was very limited as they had a new shipment that was coming soon. I got the famous swiss rolls which were good but kind of dry. Not super impressed by them. My sister tried the carrot cake muffin which was not bad.

I took zero pictures because I suck but this place was delicious. I got 10 cupcakes for three three years olds and four adults and we devoured all of them. Who knew vegan and gluten free cupcakes could be so delicious. Also that icing is solid. I don't even know how you make icing but I don't like icing and I loved whatever they did. Rave reviews.

I've had Zucchini Kill a few times, and it's pretty good! Recently I got the Triple Chocolate Cupcake and the icing was tasty and perfectly fluffy, but the cake part was a tad dry. The store is cute but tiny, there is nowhere to sit inside so be prepared to take to-go or eat at their semi-covered outdoor seating.

It is a bit harder to locate this bakery since it is behind another establishment in a backyard. I pulled up to the crystal shop looking for Zucchini Kill and walked inside not knowing if I was at the right spot or not. The crystal shop was cool and had chill people working inside. They quickly knew by looking at me that I was looking for how to the bakery. I was directed to exit out the back door and was told to look for clues to find my ultimate destination. Upon walking inside, I was greeted with a glass case of sweets galore. I've ordered from here before but wanted to try the cookies and Swiss roll. The restaurant had punny names for most of the desserts to match the general name. They are different from other places since they mix other flavors to create a unique flavor profile. I used to order from here during the holidays when I was in the area. All the sweets are deliciously yummy. The staff is nice, but more reserved and give off this grunge punk vibe. I liked the selection, however, this is by far the most unaffordable bakery I've been to. The prices are a bit steep for the portion size of what you get. I'm all for supporting local vegan businesses, however, I don't frequent it as much because of that. You definitely gotta be a rich Austinite to continue to shop here.

Recently ordered a vegan peanut butter chocolate birthday cake and it was honestly the best vegan anything I've ever had!If vegan is what you're looking for, definitely hit up this place! I know they make a lot of different things, but as far as I know, birthday cakes are out of this world!!

I had one of the best "light" cupcakes ever from ZKB! Meaning, if you ever have a craving for a cupcake, but don't want a hefty one that will have you feeling heavy, ZKB's options are the perfect solution. First of all, the owner seems super cool! I think she was the one behind the counter when I stopped in with my sister on a Friday night. The lights were kind of dim and it definitely had a "homegrown" vibe, but the cupcakes looked absolutely adorable. I got the s'mores cupcake to enjoy at home and it was absolutely delicious! I loved the intricacy of the frosting and graham crumble on top!

The name is accurate, kill me now. Me and my friend spent like $60 combined here but we are gluttons. This is mah JAM. my favorite- sugar plum fairy: almond raspberry jam filled (kinda like the jam filling in raspberry macarons but so much more of it.) I ate one, then i went back inside and ordered another. The yule tide log (seasonal) - The fudge frosting on top, i didn't leave a single drop. Snickerdoodle cupcake- double cinnamon. My friend loved it, it was so good but he went and ordered 3 more of them. This place is not good for my waistline, worker was sooo nice too! basically food heaven + its next to the witch store which is a fun place to stop by too!

We're allium free vegetarians, so we're no stranger to ingredient list reading and asking questions while traveling when food is in question. It only got crazier when the youngest of the family was diagnosed with multiple food allergies. He's allergic to wheat, eggs, avocado, peanuts, tree nuts, pineapple, and kiwi... and he can eat here! The place was a little confusing to get to at first... there are two tiny parking "lots" and it shares the space with another plant-based eatery and a witchcraft shop - all in black. There's a courtyard with shade and shared seating and even a fire pit you can enjoy when it's not summer. We went when it was raining, so there weren't many people; I'm not sure how busy it normally gets with good weather. This shop was the farthest from the entrance to the courtyard. It's small and everything is there for you. Good thing my family stayed in the car or it would have been a tight fit with the 2 other patrons that entered at the same time I did. Only outside seating available. There was a nice lady there and even if you have multiple food allergies, all the ingredients are listed on every thing. If you have the time to read through them all (I did), then there's a chance you can have something, or quickly determine if you can't. Cupcakes, Swiss roll style cakes, cookies, sweet bread, etc. There they were! I got a bit of everything... a chocolate donut, some Swiss roll cakes (and an extra to bring back to my vegan sister), some cupcakes with interesting flavors... My toddler really enjoyed his donut and finished it over two sittings! It actually tasted similar to the one I make for him. The cupcakes were small (standard sized), but delicious. I got Mulberry and Lavender Lemmy Berry. You can really taste the flavors and the cake was light (not grainy or dense like GF can be)! The roll cakes were good too! A bit sweeter, but nothing a cup of milk wouldn't solve. Better eaten within the first 2 to 3 days or it will start to be more crumble-prone.Overall, an excellent place to stop by if you're vegan or have multiple food allergies. We've only been once, but I plan on returning every time we're in Austin. It's wonderful having a place where my kid won't feel left out. The only con is price. I'm well aware that cooking allergy-friendly is costly, but you really feel it when you're also outsourcing the work to make the food as well, haha. Since we're not local to Austin, we dropped a good $44 plus tip on our 7 treats. The donut was the 'cheapest' at just over $5, $6.25 per cupcake, and it was $13 for a pack of 2 roll cake slices. Ouch! But the vegan sister and my toddler enjoyed them so I don't mind that much since it's not a regular thing.

I ordered my birthday cake from Zucchini Kill this year, and they absolutely exceeded my expectations. I chose the lemon blueberry flavor, and it was not only delicious but also a hit with my non-vegan family! Despite giving no decoration instructions, the cake turned out adorably perfect--I loved it!As a vegan, I've tried several other vegan bakeries in the area, but Zucchini Kill is now my top choice. I can't believe I waited so long to try them!I hadn't visited the bakery location before and did find it a bit tricky to locate. That's my only minor critique.I recently got engaged, and I'm eager to have Zucchini Kill make our wedding cake! Definitely give this bakery a try--you won't be disappointed!
