I have been here several times and I cannot believe I haven't written a review until now! They have some unique foods that I get everytime I dine here! The adobo chorizo meatloaf with mashed potatoes and veggies! Literally the best meat loaf I have had!The catfish beignets are not beignets at all but they are 100% delicious. So much so that sell out sometimes!I also get the Mexican martini , one is just enough, but two may send you through the roof. The service is very fast and attentive which keeps me coming back,Big patio that is also covered. Great ambiance,

Z 'Tejas was one of my favorite places in Austin Texas on 6th street. But they have been sold and have moved to a new location, opened multiple locations. and its just not the same-too me. I had the street tacos, three mini chicken tacos. They have a choice of beef or chicken, but they wont serve a mixture. For example 2 chicken / one beef. Disappointing and I did express disappointment about that part. I think it's easy to do. Service was quite good. Our waitress was very nice, accommodating and did a great job. This place is new so its very nice and clean. They keep it a little dark and moody. The original was an old house, kinda farm house-ish. I think people will like and should try it. I am just used to the original.

I hesitate to write a review knowing the last time I wrote a review for another business, their business got so popular and busy that we sometimes had to wait for a good table. However, we received 5 star service and food at Z'Tejas on our last visit during HH so Z'Tejas in Avery Ranch deserves the praise. We're big gans of Z'Tejas for happy hour! We've been here many times for HH and also for dinner or brunch on the weekends. When it was patio weather, we enjoyed sitting on their large open covered patio. The outdoor space can accomodate large parties and the live music makes for a fun, festive time. The manager was there when we arrived and we were very impressed with his friendly demeanor and first class service we received. Drinks and food were on point and came out quickly. I've brought my girlfriends here too for happy hour and they're now repeat customers as well. My favorite appetizers are the catfish beignets and yucca fries. I also really like their salad and mushroom & spinach quesadillas. The frozen swirl margrita is delightful. Your kids will love their yummy cornbread served in the mini iron cast skillet. They have different events like trivia night, movie night, etc. If you recently received Z'Tejas coupons in the mail, put those coupons to use!

I had heard a lot of great things about this restaurant, but wasn't very impressed. My husband and I ordered a Zqueso appetizer, Santa Fe Enchiladas, and the peach cobbler. The queso was OK, but too creamy for my liking. It just didn't hit right. The enchiladas were very non-traditional. It was a marinated shredded chicken paste between two corn tortillas and topped with a sweeter version of an enchilada sauce. It presents more like a quesadilla so that was unexpected. The chicken was flavored well, but we didn't care for the sauce. Good borracho beans, OK Spanish rice. The worst of the meal was the peach cobbler that supposedly takes 15 minutes to make from scratch. After the surprise with the re-imagined enchiladas, I was concerned about the tres leches cake, so I went with the cobbler because I felt like you'd have to try pretty hard to mess up a cobbler... well, I regret ordering it. I can count on one hand the number of times I've ordered a whole meal and didn't find a single redeeming quality about it. The cobbler simply wasn't cooked. The breading was all uncooked dough and I was truly disappointed that after a below-average entree, that the dessert was somehow more problematic. I hope it was a one-off night for them, because the staff was great and friendly. No complaints about the service at all, but the food was severely lacking I thought. My husband and I initially discussed a "next time", but after the cobbler I decided there likely won't be a next time. TLDR; great staff and atmosphere, but disappointing subpar food

I heard the name before and I was excited to try out. I have to say my expectation was high but the food was terrible. Rice was dry and no taste, veggies were soggy and tasted like cooked hours ago, fish had no seasoning and very fishy in a bad way. I could cook better. I wanted to ask to microwave since everything was not warm.Drinks and services were good. Menu was fancy and place was clean. They need new cooking people. I don't know how they can charge people with these horrible food.

This was my second time here, first time food ( mushroom enchiladas) and service was excellent, this time not as good. I got the grilled salmon with garlic butter which was delicious, would have it again, but the service was really bad. Server kept going missing, would have to go find her. Also noticed the table next us, needed to send a search party a few times! Not sure I will back to this location, but will go to others

So two years ago my friend and I tried to get other families to dine at Z Tejas Avery. It worked for awhile, then the good managers like Brian and bar manager and our fav...Geoff left. We tried again tonight and the only saving grace is Kodi. The GM is less than helpful, the waiter that looks like he's 16 and...well I'm not going there. So much potential but zero stars. No wonder ZTejas has gone waaaay down hill but somehow Brooklyn Heights is always busy...hmmmm. Management

Water was in very filthy unwashed glass. Server April tried to say it was clean but I took a photo of it. There was residue from a strawberry mixed drink inside. Took over 30 minutes for food to arrive. April did bare minimum and didn't bother to check back after delivering food. Restroom doors are heavy and hard to open from inside. I could imagine a child getting stuck inside. Wrote to the corporate but never heard back. What a waste of time and money!

Food is overpriced. And service is always really bad. We keep trying this place because we want to like it. It's just really disappointing every time we go.
