Zaviya Grill: A Culinary Gem That Tests Your PatienceDining at Zaviya Grill is an exercise in patience, but for those who value authenticity. This unassuming spot serves up Pakistani cuisine that draws a devoted following--locals and homesick Pakistanis alike. And trust me, when a restaurant gets a nod from the diaspora, you know they're doing something right. The food? Remarkably authentic. Rich curries, perfectly spiced kebabs, and pillowy naan that all scream homemade. But here's the catch: it is homemade. This is not the place for a quick bite. Every dish arrives as if it's been painstakingly prepared by someone's loving grandmother, which is both its charm and its frustration. Slow service is forgivable when each bite reminds you why you came in the first place. The price and value strike a perfect balance, making the wait feel almost justifiable. But the bathroom? Let's just say it's not the highlight of the experience. A little TLC in that department would go a long way.Ultimately, Zaviya Grill is not for the rushed or the faint of heart. It's for those who cherish food that tells a story, served at its own pace. Go with patience, leave with satisfaction--and a deeper appreciation for the art of slow food.

My friend wanted to try this place out so we went here on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. There's plenty of parking and the menu is QR code. I ordered the chicken skeeh kebab. My friend ordered kharai chicken. My food came pit pretty quick but my friend's dish took a while. I think they forgot about his order. He had to go to the counter to ask about the dish.

Amazing place for Pakistani style food! As much as I love South Indian food, Austin has A LOT of them and sometimes I really miss my families style of cooking, this place felt like that! The biryani was delicious and tasted like how my mom would make it, halwa puri and Chana and potatoes on the weekends is a must here! Super generous portions, great service, I can't wait to be back!

Amazing, tasty, spicy, super flavorful. Liked the addition of the fresh cilantro and red onion. Will have to try again with Naan or paratha to get the full experience.

My wife and I come here at least twice a month, usually on the weekend for their buffet. It's an easy option when we're looking for Pakistani food, and have a specific hankering for nihari and biryani. This place is usually comprehensively good, but occasionally seem very disorderly across many areas simultaneously, ie: floor is slippery and oily, biryani is plain, and grilled chicken is burnt. I just find it interesting that this place (although usually exceptionally good) has bad days where many things are problematic all at once.

Delicious food!!! I had the Chicken Malai Boti which was the most flavorful chicken I have ever had. The garlic naan and the plain naan were so fresh and unbelievably flavorful. We also had the Chana Masala which was a bit too spicy for me but was still good. When I had a forkful of the charred onions with the Chana Masala and rice it was perfection in my mouth. I have to say I was a bit reluctant to go because I wasn't sure if I would like anything. What a pleasant surprise!! Very clean too!!!

Zaviya Grill is awesome and one of the few places where you can get Pakistani cuisine in the greater Austin area. The issue for me was always the service and it has improved a lot from before! Our go to's are goat biryani, goat karahi, chicken qorma, & halwa puri (weekends only). One biryani order is good enough for two people. Finally, the curries include white rice on the side!Have tried one of the mixed grill platters. It was a bit dry but good overall. I've definitely had better though.Last time we tried buffet was 2019 and it was really good...the mixed vegetables and the spicy fried chicken were my favorites after the biryani. I am not sure if they still do buffet during the weekdays. They do catering with super reasonable prices.I am super thankful for Zaviya Grill. Next on my to-try list is the goat brain masala!

I stopped by for the first time yesterday after reading recent promising reviews. It was early (10:50a) as I ventured over from an appointment next door. Their open sign was flashing and the front door was open, so I walked in. The place was understandably empty due to the time of day but the workers were busy packing to go orders. Good for them! A lady worker/manager at the back order desk approached the register where I was standing with a mouthful of food chomping away openly and made near zero eye contact, and when she asked what I wanted and I said a Togo order, she shooed me away literally waving her arm in the air to come back after 1p. I would've waited an additional 10 -15 minutes if it was just an opening hours issue but her demeanor was awful. Bad day? Maybe. But I will not be back.
