This place is fantastic! I honestly felt like I was transported to New Orleans. The service was friendly and attentive. First tried the gizzards, which are hit or miss at most places, but not here. They were a hit wet the table. They were actually tender and the flavor was wonderful, especially with the hot sauce. The portions are humongous. I got the fried catfish smothered with crawfish etouffee with spicy mashed potatoes and Cajun corn. Oh yeah, and great cornbread. Very satisfied with my order. Others at the table ordered oxtail, fried chicken, grilled chicken, and turkey. Everyone was happy and 4 of us took home food. I highly recommend this place. Wish I lived closer! I'll definitely be back.

Upon entering you get the sidewalk cafe vibe. Always good music playing. There were signs warning of short staffing, but Kristin didn't miss a beat. She was patient , so cordial and accommodating. Warning my husband ( who has a shellfish allergy) that shrimp was cooked in the same oil as catfish. Word of caution to others. My husband ordered the old fashion meatloaf with gravy, savory greens, and not overly sweet yams. I had the "Homie Salad" with balsamic vinegar dressing. Let me put this out there folks. How do you feel about croutons? For me they are always "meh". Let me tell you, cornbread croutons, hit way differently. These "cake" cornbread croutons ( the sweeter cornbread), added such a distinctive touch to the salad. The chicken was crispy, hot and balanced in the seasonings to complement those croutons and fresh, fresh, fresh salad greens. They brew their own tea. And the rich, deep flavor ( not brown sugar water), comes sailing over your tongue. So refreshing. This cafe hits all the right buttons. Prices are friendly too

11/14/2024: Oh my God! Baby! Y'all's Down Home Southern Cafe was so delicious that it made my soul smile. I was greeted by Mr. Jeff and Jasmine was my waitress. Their customer service is top tier. I always say whenever you're greeted with a nice smile, everything will taste good! It didn't take long to be served after placing my order. Or maybe the time passed by fast because of the grape Kool-Aid that was made with the perfect amount of sugar. I ordered the chicken fried steak, collard greens, red beans and the double crusted peach cobbler. This is the first time that I've never had to add extra seasoning to my food. It was provided but not needed. As I type this I'm still in my car, too satisfied to drive to my destination. Every item I ordered was properly cooked and maybe they added an ounce of love it in too. I ate everything. The restaurant is cozy and has a beautiful New Orleans theme. The only thing I didn't like is I had to leave . I can't wait to dine here again. I wish they had a restaurant in my city. Thank you for the excellent food and exceptional service. God bless.

I stopped in for the first time for a late lunch. Everything was great - a chill setting that wasn't too loud or too quiet. Prompt friendly service. The fried chicken pieces in the Homie salad were large and generous in number. The cornbread croutons could be their own appetizers--I could eat a bowl full.

Came for the first time for dinner, excited based off the multiple reviews I read but unfortunately didn't have that experience myself. We ordered fried catfish with mac n cheese and collard greens, and the catfish po boy with yams. The catfish platter came with cornbread which I have to say was my favorite thing on my plate. The sides, in my opinion, lacked any strong flavor, and the catfish was fried too hard in that the batter and the fish separated from it and basically just broke down anytime I tried to cut or break a piece off. The portion size was nice in that I had a whole filet I could take for leftovers if I wanted too but overall, I was bit let down by the flavor and cook of our food. Our server wasn't bad but also didn't make any effort to add anything to the overall experience. The restroom itself is casual with Louisiana decor.

Wow!! The food, service and overall vibe hit the spot! We ordered the fried catfish, green beans and black eyed peas and Sunday ox tail special, collard greens, and mac n cheese and ate everything up! Oh and the cornbread was the best I've had!! So moist and just that perfect amount of sweetness! We will definitely be coming back!

Its just gets better everytime I come. So today my bae and I took his cousin to dinner and she was so excited to go because its close to her new place. Bae is in love with the cornbread croutons, Cousin is in love with these beautiful lamb chops and the unique sauce that is provided, and I'm really trying to manage my intake so I did the salad and could not finish it with my silly intermediate fasting and pulling back from fried foods however, I love the shrimp on my salad. I did have to take it home to eat for breakfast. I've actually known the owner for quite a few years due to a mutual friend. I love the fact that they give a large amount of vegetables because when you don't make greens, you can go here and order a nice serving of it. The decor and decorations reminds me of New Orleans and the spice and seasonings are mouthwatering! When I'm going from one job to the next, I always pass y'all and think about lunch. I decided to go in after we ate dinner here that week and I had to get the fried gizzards. They did not make it home.

I went to visit my friend in Austin and we went to Y'all's. She said really good things about this place so I was excited! The entire restaurant is New Orleans based so they have Mardi Gras type decor and a tree that apparently stays there year round (I guess that's a southern thing?) It wasn't busy when we went and we had a large party. The wait staff were super accommodating which was really helpful because sometimes large parties can be a lot to accommodate. I got the fried fish that came with a seafood type sauce on the top. It was sooo good!! The fish came with two sides so I got cabbage and mashed potatoes the sides were okay in my opinion.

We throughly enjoyed the food and sweet wait staff! True southern & Cajun goodness! The sides were amazing too! Cabbage, beans, corn. Will definitely seek them out again when we're in the Austin area. It was a little bit of a wait on Sunday afternoon but it was worth it!
