For $7 was expecting a bigger hot dog. It's authentic but not worth $7 by any means. They prob make $6 profit off each one of these

If this review was based on my first visit this would be a far more positive one. They not only have Chicago style dogs and Italian beefs but they have Pizza puffs which is one of those Chicago deep cuts that those who watch 'The Bear' won't just know about. The owners are definitely from the Chicago area. The food is pretty good, minus the fact that they don't dunk your beef in gravy but give you a decent amount of jus on the side. It's not quite the same but ok.Sure, the prices are higher than you'd find at a Portillo's-IFYKYK but I'll accept that as a surcharge for being a 1000 or so miles away from Chicago. The other drawback is their hours have been erratic. They offered lunch hours a few months ago but not really since they said to check if they'd be open the day of on their socials. It sounded good in theory but it didn't really happen and you were left wondering if they were open that day for lunch, maybe? Even in the 'normal' evening hours they had been closed when I had gone to the Saxon hoping to eat and listen to some music. It seems like they've stabilized their hours a bit more but I don't feel like driving 20 minutes just to find out they're not open that day.

The owner was incredibly friendly and even tolerated my comparing him to a popular Dallas hotdog spot. The service was incredible, the dog was delicious, and we loved the shaded space to eat in. Will definitely come back.

When you crave Chicago dogs or Chicago beef sandwiches, this food truck will satisfy that craving. The owner is nice and friendly in that typical Chicago way. I'm not sure how he doesn't get tired of talking about the Cubs or the Bears. If this was Chicago, it would be a solid 3, but for Texas it's more of a 4 to 4.25. The fries are pretty salty and the beef can be a little under marinated at times. We're glad Wrigleyville is in town.

Decided to give Wrigleyville another shot after my last visit didn't go so well. I'm happy to say that the experience was much better this trip although there's still room for improvement. The hot dogs here really do have the right stuff for a Chicago garden-style dog, with Vienna-brand wieners. Using a Vienna wiener is really important for a couple reasons. First, the vast majority of Chicago dogs use this particular brand (yes, David Berg is the other wiener you'll see in the Windy City, but Vienna bought them out many years ago). More importantly though, the all-beef sausage is crafted from ground brisket and mixed with its special blend of spices giving the distinctive flavor. Of course, all of the other requisite ingredients made their appearance: yellow mustard, relish, onions, tomato slices, dill spear and sport peppers, all nestled atop a poppy seed bun. The bun was soft and felt like it was steamed as it should be (I didn't confirm with the counter staff) but overall, I thought it was a very good rendition of the Chicago dog. Crinkle cut fries came out piping hot.I was a bit disappointed however with the Italian beef. The sliced meat used in the sandwich was high quality but the au jus that the beef was cooked in was more salty than flavorful and was missing the traditional spices. Also, I don't care for the red sweet peppers used on the sandwich. Sweet peppers used on this particular sandwich are normally green bell peppers that have been cooked in the au jus just enough to soften them and eliminate the crunch. Giardiniera (the "hot" pepper mix) was decent. The sandwich was a bit of a miss for me.Nevertheless, I think that this is one of the best places for a Chicago hot dog in Austin and for that I am appreciative for a little taste of home. Wrigleyville South is Recommended.

I'm from the Midwest. I love Chicago Dogs. I've eaten quite a bit of those growing up and I miss them. So I was excited to see a food trailer offer these up. The last Chicago Dog I had in Austin was several years ago at a place called "Frank's" located downtown - I'm not sure if they're still around -- but I did meet that owner and complimented him on his solid Chicago Hot Dog. Service was great here, the guy had good energy, he was patient, he told me the best sellers, and I ordered the Chicago Dog, It came out in a jiffy. Overall - I was really disappointed with the product. It didn't meet expectations. It has the right stuff, but the hotdog itself was so small, the bun overpowered it, and after looking at some of the other hotdog pictures where the hotdog looks so large marge - my hotdog was not. So I was confused. I ate through it and could barely get that hotdog texture and taste. It was also slightly overcooked, the bun was not as fresh but still manageable to eat. I didn't get my hotdog fix here. And I'm not going to pay an extra $1 to add one hotdog in to make it more robust because I can't justify the price for what you get. So I ended up heading over to Costco for their all beef Hotdog (comes with a drink) and that's only $1.50. And let me tell you - when I eat their hotdog I can taste that mystery meat, I can taste the hotdog, it's got great flavor and it's really robust, and the bread and ingredients are secondary. That's the feeling I am used to getting when I've had Chicago Dogs in the past but unfortunately this one came up way short and I'm definitely not getting enough for the money. The friendly fast service bumped this up from 1 to 2-stars. Bottom line here is if I got a bigger and better hotdog here - more of the good stuff - more substance - it would have made this a much better experience. It's kinda like going to a burger joint and getting a really thin burger patty but a nice big bun with lots of toppings - and you can barely taste the burger. Meh.
