Would not recommend this place. They don't have consistent prices for drink, they tell you one thing and than charge another depending on the day. The short girl with blue hair was extremely rude and had attitude the entire time and began over charging for my drinks and didn't even ring up the proper drink under the itemized receipt. It's clearly they hire employees don't care for customer service. I'd recommend going to Shangri-La instead for dive bar prices.

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I understand that it's SXSW and there are a lot of other people in town and many of them have had a little too much to drink, but if you are working as a bartender in Austin, then I feel like you should understand that when you are behind the counter. The dude behind the counter either needs to be completely retrained on customer service or he needs to consider anger management classes.When we walked up to get a drink, we asked what the slush flavor was and when he said orange dreamsicle, we got excited (let's face it, that's an amazing flavor for a slush), but before we could even order, he walked away. When he finally came back, he asked "do you know what you want yet?" in a very demeaning tone. And when I responded with "we were going to order the slush before you walked away", he quickly and sassily responded with "You guys took too long and I can't read minds". Completely inappropriate way to respond to customers, especially when there was no one behind us. The situation was embarrassing and a perfect example of what not to do when working in hospitality. I hope the guy got a hug from someone later that night because he clearly needed one.

Popped in Saturday (sxsw) around 530 for a quick drink. There were a lot of people behind the bar but only one seemed to be a bartender. The bar-top was basically empty. Only one person was ahead of me and after standing around for 5 mins without so much as eye contact I decided to go somewhere else. I wouldn't have minded staying a little longer but some woman was being raped on the tv in some cringe 70s movie by a murderer covered in someone's blood. So along with no drink, I also got slightly traumatized. Thanks!

Stopped in here for a quick beverage while waiting for a reservation nearby and loved it. A perfect dive with cheap, stiff drinks and a friendly bartender. This place gives great old Austin vibes that'll keep me coming back.

This place has my vote for 2 reasons. 1) the drinks are nice a cheap 2) The sandwiches from the food truck gave me day dreams for days. Who knew something so simple as a mac n cheese sandwich with a tomato dipping sauce could cause this type of euphoria. Mis that with the porch outside with a view of 6th street and it a great place to spend an early evening

Violet Crown is a perfect way to end your night on East 6th. We stopped in late on a Friday evening, and sat in their expansive patio for drinks and conversation. The place was full enough, but wasn't exceptionally packed like many other spots on this street, making for a more relaxed vibe. Their creamy orange frozen drinks were a dream, and we had several, served up by a friendly and unpretentious bartender. We look forward to coming back on our next trip.

We have been here a couple of times and it is usually our last stop on the Eastside before heading home. We love the vibe here and you can always quickly score a strong pour even when they are busy.During SXSW we figured it would be wall-to-wall and we were pleasantly surprised to find the bar area pretty empty (the patio area was jammed). We scored a nice side booth that was great for people watching.They do have some decent beers available and if you have the munchies there is a food truck on site. Good pours and a good vibe...

TLDR: Cool bar, local beers. The pizza outside thooo.___I came in while I waited for my pizza being made in a little truck outside. I knew I had about 15 minutes so I thought it would be the perfect chance to catch up on social media and drink something local.I got a local hefe ($7). It was really good. Super friendly staff. The bar is cool - kinda divey and just really chill. I took a seat outside in the little patio and the pizza folks will actually bring the pizza in for you - clutch.

I was there on a saturday night and the drinks were terrible, it stinks inside, and there's no air moving on the back patio so it's super stuffy. 2 stars because the bartenders were nice

We wandered into the social club after being down the street at another bar. The energy here was way more chill than the others on this strip, with a noticeable absence of frat dudes. The volume was appropriate for the size of the room. They had mean girls playing on the TV with a phenomenal array of 80s and early 90's music. There was a charging station for my phone, which I was in dire need of. The cocktails were as expected, nothing fancy, but poured strong and regularly from the attentive bartender. There's also an outdoor eating area, with a food truck. The back patio area was like our own special clubhouse, with old trees and music from inside lightly flowing from the outdoor speakers.
