VERDAD True Modern Mexican

One of my favorite restaurants in Austin! The interior is gorgeous, with dim ambient lighting and aesthetically shaped lamps. They have so many delicious food and dessert options! Recommend the oysters and hamachi ceviche. My favorite dessert is the seis leches cake!

I really would like to give this place 5 stars because the drinks and the dish we tried were very good, however the service was what left us disappointed. We had a later reservation on a Saturday night. When we first sat down, it took about 10 minutes for the waiter to greet us, which I understand because it is a busy weekend night. We ordered drinks- the El Tamarindo and the Mexican Sunset mule, which were very unique and tasted great. Keep in mind they are expensive. When we ordered, we asked for the lobster quesadillas and the prime steak fajitas. The last question the waiter asked was if we wanted flour or corn tortillas. Before we could answer, he cut us off and said I'll be right back. I think the kitchen signaled him because he had to bring food to another table, but really he couldn't just hear our answer and then leave? Another 10 minutes go by and he comes back, apologizes, and asks the question again. We order both flour and corn. This was not the end of the saga. The waiter comes back again and says there are no more lobster quesadillas available so we ended up telling him we will get the seafood enchiladas instead. We were both slightly disappointed. The waiter comes back AGAIN and says they are out of rice. We had ordered cilantro rice so we asked if we could have the red rice instead. He responded, "I just work here, but we are out of all rice." Not sure how an upscale Mexican restaurant runs out of a basic item, but okay. He listed off different sides, but we really wanted to have the rice so we declined. My friend and I were just annoyed at this point so we told him we'll just order the seafood enchiladas and that's it. The seafood enchiladas were excellent. I do appreciate that the waiter apologized and said he would comp a dessert. We got the dessert trio, which included a small piece of the margarita lime tart, the seis leches cake, and the burnt milk candy. All were pretty good, but nothing outstanding. I do question if I should come back to try different drinks/dishes because everything did look good, but after that experience we had, I'm not sure I will be returning.

We ordered through uber eats in new year's eve. Verdad is part of the perry restaurant chain. I really enjoyed the fresh tortilla that came with some of the entrees. We ordered the following dishes:Octopus - 4/5Duck mole - 3/5 (sauce was nice but the duck was too chewy)Wagyu fajitas - 4/5Bone marrow - 3/5 (i think it would have been nicer if it wasnt cold)Mexican hot chocolate - 3.5/5Churros - 3.5/5Key lime pie - 4/5Overall the food was pretty good and we would dine in next time to try their food properly.

We went here for our anniversary. Wow so impressed that they made a heart of rose pedals on our table and all wished us a happy anniversary.! The food was delicious and service outstanding! We had our guacamole, tacos and the enchilada special. Everything was delicious! They even brought us a surprise sweet treat for desert. So good! Will definitely return!

Met a friend for drinks and sat on their lovely patio with a fire pit. The noise inside was a bit loud so we chose this quieter area so we could talk. The bartender was very accommodating and made excellent Mezcal cocktails. I can't wait to come back and try their food. It looks delicious.

I was surprised with a birthday dinner here and fell in love with the ambiance, the service, and the food! As a Mexican American, I've got to say the dishes did feel authentic but with a twist! Every plate we tried was so so flavorful, like a burst of color in your mouth.The decor and aesthetic were stunning! Because it was my birthday our server took time to get me a surprise milk candy dessert with a candle and a birthday card signed by all of the staff :'). It was a lovely birthday dinner at Verdad!

The ambiance was great, the modern decor elevated the space. Our server was super friendly and positive which made for a great experience.To start we had the margarita and the reserve mexical to drink. Classic margarita, you can't go wrong. The reserve mexical was an upscale sangria, I enjoyed it!The hamachi ceviche was good, but could use more flavor. I've had better in Austin but it's still a good choice. The filet mignon tacos were really great! I wish I enjoyed the seafood enchiladas more, it was lacking some flavor. I wish they had a red or green sauce.

Was excited to try this place after its huge hype, but not that impressed by the food here.I loved the atmosphere of the place, it was well designed and well made.The service was good, nothing awfully remarkable. Food came out pretty fast though, my husband and I sat right by the kitchen so it was also cool to watch the food coming out.I got a mojito to start - couldn't tell if there was any alcohol at all in it.I also got the seafood enchiladas. They were ok, lacking the wow factor for me. Felt like I could have made them at home.

First time at VERDAD, and the experience lived up to the hype! Stunning ambiance, delicious food & drinks, and exceptional service. Our server was fantastic. He went above and beyond to accommodate my mother (who is a strict vegetarian) dietary restrictions. He made fantastic recommendations of menu items, and was kind + pleasant. His positive attitude elevated our experience.We ordered the vegan relleno, the seafood enchiladas, a passionfruit margarita and a pineapple margarita. Food was exceptional; the seafood was very fresh and the enchiladas were flavorful and filling without being too heavy. The relleno was a big hit at our table as well. The drinks were boozy and delicious!Loved this restaurant and will be back for a future special occasion!

Elevated Interior Mexican food with an attention to detail and authenticity. The menu is a variety of Mexican dishes, including moles, tacos, seafood and so on. The attention to detail and making dishes from scratch is clearly evident when you take that first bite. We sampled several appetizers and dishes including the guacamole, squash/kale salad, fillet minion tacos, and the garlic shrimp fideo. The garlic shrimp fideo, while flavorful missed the mark on texture. The fideo itself was a little watery and chewy. The filet mignon tacos were outstanding as was the guacamole. The kale salad was equally delicious. They have a large selection of unique cocktails. The Paloma was outstanding. Service was superb.
