Veracruz Fonda & Bar

Since the last time I have been to Veracruz Fonda & Bar, they grew their menu. I loved the Taco plate! $20 for 2 tacos and rice and beans - what an awesome deal! We sat outside on the patio, highly recommend (especially if it is sunny outside).Taylor was our waiter and he did awesome! Thank you for helping make our friends engagement special.

LOVE IT ALL! Delicious brunch tacos with variety of options so I ordered 3 different types, some veggie, some with meat. EVERYTHING was outstanding! The server was friendly and a real delight! It's always fun to laugh with the staff and get great recommendations. The menu gives a lot of variety. I wanted everything! LOL We ALL enjoyed our meals. It was fast, delicious, friendly and fun! Coffee non-alcoholic drinks were SO GOOD! LOVE the decor, energy and outside seating too! I'd eat there every day if I lived closer! :)

Another venture on the bib gourmand list, and another venture well earned. With so many tex Mex options, Veracruz brings a much needed Tropical flair to the scene with delicious food options and service.Atmosphere: Their muller location is spacious, so perfect for a lunch/dinner outing with friends. The space itself has a great theme with tropical umbrellas to boot.Food: Highly recommend any of their taco plates. For the price you pay and the amount of food you get be sure to come hungry as these tacos come stuffed and packed with flavor, just as they should be. On the side though I'm a real sucker for plantains and theirs are so good that I almost want to just get those solo on the side. I'd also recommend their unique dessert which was like a sweet tamale. Ice cream on the side with a sweet filled tamale, made for a interesting sight but delicious and I'd easily get again.Service: Super friendly service that are happy to answer any questions you have about the menu. Being an authentic menu I wasn't too familiar with some of the options but my server at the time helped explain and was always attentive.I may have a new goto spot when inviting friends around the mueller area. Another well earned bib gourmand and easily will come back.

Walked in on Friday without a reservation but were seated fairly quickly inside. It was very packed, very family friendly but slightly on the noisier side. Nice overall aesthetic with a large patio. Drinks were delicious, I ordered the dona diablo. We ordered the ceviche to start and it was a decent sized portion, tasted fresh and they provided more chips when we asked. Ordered the mole enchiladas and the special, birria tacos. If you like mole, this is a good option, I loved the plantains it came with. Birria was delicious, crispy and cheesy. This is a fun easy spot to go to in the mueller neighborhood.

Love love love Veracruz! We usually get the breakfast tacos here along with agua Fresca but finally made our way to come for dinner. We came on a Saturday at 5pm and there was still plenty of seating on the inside. Most of the seats outside were taken. We were immediately greeted and seated. Welcoming decor/seating and our waitress provided good service. The seat was dirty with food crumbs at the table we were seated. Table was clean. We ordered:* Watermelon agua Fresca: 5/5 delicious! Fresh and so good!* cantaloupe agua Fresca 5/5 wow! * pineapples and cucumbers agua Fresca 5/5! You can not go wrong with any of the agua Fresca! They are all really good! * shrimp ceviche: 5/5 perfectly balance with acidic and sooooooo sooooooo good with the freshly fried chips! Highly recommended!* Cochinita Pibil: 5/5 serve with blue tortilla and a must try dish! Meat is so tender and fall apart! Seasoning is impeccable! Those plantains are perfectly cooked and so good! Make the perfect taco with a little bit of everything on this plate in one taco! The salsa that comes with it is spicy but is a must with the taco. I had that salsa and the cream green salsa! Sooo good! Do I recommend this place? Absolutely! Food is spot on and the agua Fresca is the best I've ever had! Freshly juice made! Must try place!

I've been in twice, and have had largely positive experiences but with both visits having a bit of a hiccup. My first visit, they seemed to take Gluten allergies very seriously -- but I did end up having a reaction. My second visit, we were seated but then no waiter came to wait on us for about 15 minutes and I went and asked about it. These are pretty circumstantial issues, though, and without them being present they definitely have the potential to be a great dinner and date spot. My second visit was a date, and it went very well. The drinks were good, we each got taco plates along with guacamole and chips, and we were seated on the patio with perfect night-time weather. The food was all high quality and very tasty. As long as it's safe for my allergy I plan to be back -- but really one more time with a cross contamination issue and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to risk it again.

Came here for dinner on a Monday evening, we were seated right away and only about half the restaurant was full Having been a long time fan of the taco shop I was excited to finally give their new concept a try and I really enjoyed the experience!More than anything else the exceptionally friendly service stood out. Our server was extremely attentive, energetic, and helpful with great suggestionsWe shared a couple of small plates to start. The ceviche was as good as advertised and I enjoyed the spicy dips from el cuartito a lotThe cochinita pibil was always my favorite taco and I was super disappointed when it went off their menu at the line hotel location, so I was super excited to see they had it here. I very much enjoyed it but do wish they had stuck with the big chunks of plantains they had beforeOverall I'd recommend giving them a try, definitely a little more high end than the taco shops, but worth it for a nicer evening out

The ambiance is fun and welcoming. There are bright colors and big murals on the walls. We had our order taken as soon as we sat down. I had a Julieta cocktail. It was refreshing and tasty. The guacamole appetizer was good but the portion was a bit small. I had the camarones enchipotlados. The sauce was delicious and definitely packed a punch. My partner had the red snapper. It was largely portioned and tasted good. The service was good and the prices were reasonable. I would return to Veracruz again.

Like many Austinites, I was already a fan of Veracruz, but the idea of a table-service Veracruz with a full breakfast, lunch, dinner and full bar? Even better. What sets apart Veracruz is the inspiration the owners and sisters, Reyna and Maritza Vazquez, drew from their hometown of Veracruz, Mexico into building this restaurant. You'll find their native influences such as the Cafe Lechero (Mexican cafe con leche) and the conchas made by Reyna.I had to order the Migas Originales (my favorite breakfast tacos of all time) and a traditional Pork Tamal wrapped in a banana leaf. Service was impeccable and so helpful and there's plenty of seating, both indoors and out.

Parking: Street parking was relatively plentiful this particular Sunday! I try to avoid the Mueller area on Sunday because of the Farmer's Market but if you get there early*ish (before 10am), there's some street parking. And, lots more within walking distance in the neighborhood. Ambiance: Al fresco seating has a view of Lake Mueller Park and the momma duck hanging out at the big gray pot by the front entrance was a big plus. My pup enjoyed people / dog watching from the front patio this morning! Food & Drinks: I am a big fan of their giant mason jars of Aguas Frescas - I ordered mango this time, others tried the very healthy La Jarocha & a mango mimosa. I tried Panucho de Cochinita for the first time with corn tortilla, refried black beans, cochinita pibil, red onion habanero lime escabeche, cilantro, avocado & grilled habanero salsa. A new favorite! Service: Andreareina was friendly & full of awesome suggestions! Overall: Relaxing people / dog / duck watching and breakfast with great food & drinks!
