Veracruz has been a long time Austin favorite of mine. Honestly, every time that I am back in Austin, I always make a trip to Veracruz and it is one of the top places I recommend to my friends. You can't go wrong with any of the tacos on their menu. Each taco is made to order and features a fresh tortilla. My personal go-tos are the el breakfast, barbacoa, and grilled steak tacos. I always pair my tacos with a mango aqua fresca. Trust me on this one, get their aqua frescas! They are so bright, refreshing, and made with real fruit. There are several Veracruz locations around the city, but this one is my favorite. It is near downtown Austin and within walking distance of many local sites. The service is good and the vibes are always bustling, but the wait is never too long.

Veracruz used to be one of my favorite taco shops in Austin. Throughout the years, the taste has definitely gone down from my liking, but I still appreciate a visit here anytime I'm in town. I typically order the migas poblanos taco and other non breakfast tacos. All the tacos are very solid, but the prices are a bit too high. $6 for a breakfast taco is almost criminal. The mango aqua Fresca is a must get whenever you visit. It is refreshing and the cup is huge. Overall, if you are in downtown, it is a convenient spot for some good tacos, but if you are willing to venture out a little bit more, I would suggest Granny's tacos in east Austin.

Good tacos. Good ambience. Al pastor tacos : 4/5 Taco was good and flavorful but not authentic off the spit. Migas Poblano tacos: 5/5 This was an excellent taco. Eggs and poblano chilli in a perfectly balanced taco.Birria Taco: While the taco and the meat was good the consume was a let down. It was a thick and also in a small amount to dip.

We enjoyed our tacos at Veracruz, but would have loved some plates as they were served in aluminum foil making it messy to eat. The salsas were served in large containers, I wish the clerk would have formed me that the large salsa I ordered already game with the tacos. The chips are fresh, salsa was also good.

Before my first visit to Austin last week, I had never had a breakfast taco in my life. I had heard of them, but was always a burrito gal myself. By the end of my trip, I was fully converted. I walked past Veracruz a few times during my stay, and on the last morning, it just felt right to go in. I'm so happy I did. The super cute menu on the wall grabbed my attention as a graphic designer... very nice touch. The woman who took my order was very sweet and welcoming. I wish I knew her name so I could give her a shoutout. I wasn't sure what to order, but went with my gut. I decided on the Migas and El Tradicional, both on corn tortillas, and a watermelon Agua Fresca. Turns out, I made the right choice. I took one of each of the salsas, used them all and loved all three. I was impressed with everything I ordered. The Migas was my favorite of the two tacos because the crunch inside gave it something extra special, but both were delicious. The watermelon Agua Fresca hit the spot as well. Loved that it was so large because hydration is life!Another perk is that you can walk through the lobby while waiting for your order and pick up a coffee from Alfred. Super convenient! I also loved eating outside, watching people walk by on a beautiful morning.I will be frequenting Veracruz when I return to Austin. Yes, I'm now moving here, and I'm not going to deny that breakfast tacos were involved in my decision to make Texas my new home.

I absolutely loved the salsa verde here. Perfect heat level & creaminess paired with the most delicious chips. I also had the migas poblanos which was a tasty taco with avocado and crispy tortilla mixed with the egg. My fav was the Al pastor within juicy, perfectly seasoned pork and pineapple. There is plentiful indoor and outdoor seating. You can also take your food to the hotel lobby area. The service consists of ordering at a register and they call your name & text you when ready. We also enjoyed Mexican Coke with our meal. Note: arrive early. It was completely packed with a line by 12:30pm.

My El Diferente taco might have been the best bite I had over three days in Austin. All the fillings were cooked together, melding together the salt of the black beans with the texture of the potato and avocado. After adding the delicious house jalapeño sauce, it was even better. But my Migas Poblanos taco, I must say, was less appetizing. It wasn't nearly as complex as the El Diferente. The egg is moist, but it took on color from the avocado that made it less pretty to look at.On top of that, despite the well-lit decor, the in-house experience is not charming. Two of the three entrance doors are locked to the outside and the working one isn't marked. But also, I ordered inside, yet my tacos came double-wrapped in foil in a paper bag. I wanted my tacos to be served on a tray. Look at how the foil wrapping ruins the presentation. I'd also prefer a squeeze bottle of salsa, instead of the tiny takeaway portions in individual plastic cups. Like others, I experienced a long wait - two tacos took 15 minutes and only one other customer was ahead of me when I arrived. (Two more showed while I was there around 8:30a on a Tuesday.)I'd try more of the menu the next time I'm in Austin, but would hope that another location offered better hospitality.

Not too happy. This location was listed on DoorDash and so i ordered a few things from here to bring food to someone that really likes their migas and agua frescas but is currently in skilled nursing so he wanted something tasty. Unexpectedly, the order was picked up by the wrong dasher and they refused to remake the order. I think this is just bad optics and although I got the order refunded the person I was ordering this food for was really expecting this food. We are both left with a sour taste for this business. Also they used to field orders from their muller location but now it's the downtown location with limited hours.

The only thing I actually enjoyed was the morning juice. Everything else? A complete letdown. The Migas Poblanas was the best of a bad situation, but the El Sancho didn't even taste like chorizo. The tortillas were a tragedy--doughy, cheap-tasting, and instantly soggy. If I wanted Mission tortillas quality, I'd go to the grocery store and spend way less than $69.Speaking of price, for what I paid (juice, six tiny tacos, and a quesadilla), I expected at least a decent amount of salsa. But no, they rationed it like liquid gold--maybe a teaspoon per taco. That's just insulting. The guac had a weird taste, the pico de gallo might as well have come from a can, and the quesadilla? A soggy, greasy disaster.Their website boasts that they've been "locally, nationally, and internationally recognized for the quality of their food." If this is what award-winning tacos taste like, I'm seriously concerned. The tortillas--the foundation of any good taco--are no better than the Mission tortillas you grab from the grocery store. If this is one of Austin's better taco spots, that's just depressing. The hype, the wait, the high ratings--I don't get it. For the price and the reputation, I expected fresh, flavorful tacos, not a sad, overpriced mess.
