This place is exquisite! If you enjoy seafood, you are going to go home the most satisfied. The minimal ingredients used by the chefs to enhance the flavors to make your dish taste so rich and exquisite, it is mind blowing and extremely satisfying. SO let's start with the ambiance - as good as you will imagine for an upscale restaurantservice - same comment as above, extremely friendly and sweet staffhas valet parking optionsFood - we tried the modified Omakase ( I know there is a name to it but it just isn't popping into my head lol), this is where your server will ask you questions based on your meat/flavors/budget preferences and then curate a menu for you, confirm with you before placing the order, and then it starts!! We got 7-8 dishes, with the most delicious tasting fish, mushroom, snap fried chicken I have ever tried. These flavors are what make you understand the price point behind these restaurants. I definitely don't remember the name of everything we ate but I will attach photos for atleast some idea. The service was quick, constant checking in which I appreciated because it is kind of a surprise menu lol. But yeah, a must have experience for sure! The Omakase goes upto $350+. We paid $250 (w/o tip) for our meal and I am happy about it!Thanks for a great time Uchiko :)

Hmm, RUDE much! The server who served us was very condescending. I give people a lot of benefit of doubt and hardly use these words for anyone. But this one takes the cake. She treated us like we didn't know where we were with her comments like "oh we are Uchi KO not UCHI" - thanks for the reminder and with her other remarks with one of the food items - juniko nabe - she never mentioned that it was a mushroom soup. While ordering I asked details about the dish if it contains tofu, mushroom etc and she said yes - and so I ordered it. And when it got served, she mentioned again "Uchi is different than Uchiko" as if once wasn't enough and was like did I forget to mention that it was a soup - yes! You absolutely did - shud have thought of that before asking in a very condescending voice what the problem was, when she talked about the dish already. Uchiko - What's the point of having vegan options and serving good food if you can't hire decent staff who'd treat others like human. FYI - you can verify my other yelp reviews if to want to know how often have I ever had these experiences in Austin! I do not recommend this restaurant anymore.

I've been visiting Uchiko semi-regularly since moving to Austin in 2010. The first time was on a date -- rather, it was on a date to meet my partner's mother, and I was petrified. The prosecco helped. I will never forget the Duck Four Ways. It is forever embedded in my culinary memoryscape. These days, I've developed a pattern. I will habitually order the Brussels sprouts whenever available, the wedge salad, the uni and unagi, and anything containing hamachi or toro. Plus Suntory Toki. On the rocks.72-hour short rib. Now that's a poem.

Put me on the Uchi bandwagon which is an Austin staple. We had another incredible meal last night. The sushi, salads, other appetizers and the dessert...OMG the dessert... were all amazing. Service was good, the long lull between the dishes was annoying but the food made up for that. The funny thing is...this is known to be a sushi spot but the past dishes were the multiple A5 wagyu dishes...like butter.

It was my first time at one of the "uchi's" and I can't wait to complete my round of visits to their other restaurants! The service was excellent. They're very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly.I really enjoyed every single bite but I would say the stand outs are the shag roll, madai nigiri, bincho nigiri, hama chili, and brussel sprouts. I will be back for the shag roll and hama chili and then to try their spicy tuna roll!I appreciated the creativity with the corn ribs but I wouldn't say they're anything special. The p-38 roll was good and I really liked the brown sauce they served it with. The scallop crudo was very refreshing too but I don't think I'll order it again. The broccoli was a miss for me, too many stem pieces that were hard to chew. The s'mores dessert fell short of my expectations. It was good but didn't knock my taste buds outta the park by any means.I made a reservation a month in advance to get a table at 5pm for their happy hour on a saturday night and it was so worth it! Their happy hour menu has items nearly half off!

Our second time at Uchiko was even better than the first (we live South, so more likely to visit Uchi than drive North!). We remembered our bartender from the last time we visited which was probably a year ago, and he was still so damn cool. He even gifted us two scallop nigiri which were DELISH. We were there for happy hour before an event nearby and were lucky enough to snag at seat at the wine bar. Our fave item on the HH menu is the Hama Chili... so good we ordered a second one at the end of our meal. One of the bartenders even suggested drinking the ponzu sauce and my S/O did not hesitate, lol. Aaron was our bartender and we'd come back for his service alone. Great guy. Thanks Aaron!! And thanks to the girls at the hostess stand - they keep their cool in rush (happy) hour and are (or were) really accommodating.

Anna - thank you for spoiling us tonight. Not my first time at Uchiko, but definitely my favorite so far. Each dish was perfection, and you and the team helped make things seamless for us.

Where do I even begin... If you're wanting to celebrate, go on a date, need a lil treat after a hard week, or just want to be around amazing people who'll serve up even more amazing dishes - you've found the right place to go. This tucked away Japanese kitchen is the best decision you'll make any day of the week. Everything is curated perfectly, attentively, and some with a lil touch of fun. I've been here a handful of times, and have always left with a smile on my face and my jeans bursting with a belly full of joy. There's really nothing you could order that would disappoint - and if anything, trust your chef. Everything is curated and coursed out, and separated on the menu for your convenience. All the staff is highly knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to navigating the menu and dishes, as well as what pairs. If I had to pick out anything specific...Hama Chili (classic), All of the nigiri (esp. the aged tuna & fatty salmon belly), I also really liked the toro nuta, hot rock, madai (best), masaba, p-38, and the milk n honey dessert Additionally, the ambiance is fun, dark lighting, and spacious but mid volume. Also - want to give the most special thanks to the best chef de cuisine, Steven Attwood who has made every experience a special one.

This place is great for happy hour, if you can get a reservation!Prices are great for the quality of food that you get. I love the modernized and western takes on sushi and how they introduce different flavor combinations that you would not be able to get elsewhere. I also really enjoyed their kabocha tempura.
