We visited this watering hole the past weekend, during our weekend stay in Austin. Our hosts offered the choice of two establishments, but we were intrigued by the name and the reputation of The Tipsy, ergo our election. The bar is found off the popular Rainey Street area, one detractor being the difficulty in finding parking. There is active construction in the area, and street parking was essentially non-existent, but we found lot parking a couple of blocks away. The Tipsy Alchemist sits atop the second floor of building, and at the top of stairs, seating on the patio were a couple of groups of patrons, swilling drinks and puffing cigars. Aside the guests, an acoustic guitar guy plucked the strings and sang popular copy tunes. Within, the bar faces entry, with tables running the length of the bar, tables filled with numerous patrons. The place is definitely casual, and reminded me of the typical bar scene that I had visited on Sixth Street, one that would find a younger crowd in attendance. We were immediately seated, and immediately greeted by our waitress, a young lady knowledgeable of the drinks, readily answering our parties' questions of the nuances of the crafted beverages. We chose their expresso martini, the hot butter bourbon, the carajillo, and another martini variation. Our impressions: well prepared, well crafted beverages, however a couple of the drinks did have a bit too much creamy topping. We laughed at our newly placed white moustaches! The drinks were a bit pricey, and the tab included an automatic 20% tip, of which some previous reviewers disapproved. Our usual tip is 20%, and given the excellent service and demeanor of the staff, was not an issue for our party. We enjoyed our visit to the Tipsy Alchemist, and if in the area, may visit again. Our purpose on return however, would be to visit other watering holes to expand our experiences in Austin!! Be well Yelpers!!

Brought in the New Year at the Tipsy Alchemist which is one of our favorite bars to go to on just a regular basis! The attention to detail, the friendliness of management and the staff, the great DJ and the overall ambiance is the reason we will always frequent this place!

Really nice servers and bartenders. The ambiance is casual. We checked it out on a Saturday. The music overhead was really loud. Not suitable for conversations. You have to shout. The cocktails were pretty. I probably wouldn't return because it's not my scene anymore. Perfect for the younger clubby crowd. There's a parking garage at the same building that charges $16/hour, $25/2 hours. We ended up paying $46 for the night.

We stumbled upon The Tipsy Alchemist while searching for a cocktail bar around Rainey Street, and its captivating ambiance immediately drew us in. Intrigued by the tiki vibe, I opted for the Loca Loma, while my friend went for the espresso-based delight, "Not Your Mama's Spresso."The presentation of our cocktails was nothing short of spectacular, and despite initial concerns about potential over-dilution due to the generous amount of ice, we were pleasantly surprised. The drinks proved to be exceptionally potent, and the unique cocktail mugs added an extra layer of charm to the experience. Our overall impression was overwhelmingly positive. The cocktails at The Tipsy Alchemist are not only intriguing but also expertly crafted. I wholeheartedly recommend checking out this bar if you find yourself on Rainey Street. The combination of inventive concoctions, impressive presentation, and an inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit for cocktail enthusiasts. Cheers to a memorable evening!

Stopped in this weekend to escape the heat, and I was pleasantly surprised with the vibes! Staff are approachable and witty, and the drinks were tasty. A/C was blasting (thank goodness!) and there were a bunch of seating options both inside and outside, as well as live music on the porch just outside of the bar area. While we did not sit there, the outside seating had fans and I believe misters set up throughout the space, and there were many people sitting out there, so it must have been doable!

Went here for a drink before getting dinner. There was live music and the drinks were yummy. Great aperol spritz, old fashioned, and drops of juniper. The service was adequate. The place itself was super cute and trendy

Not sure why this place is rated 3 stars but if you're a fan of yummy cocktails, I would say this is a solid stop.Came here on a whim and overall, had a pleasant time with friends who all enjoyed the drinks and service here. Things to note (from a Tuesday night perspective)- Service: Quick and attentive! Staff overall was friendly and nice.((Live Music)): had the pleasure to hear and support a local singer who was performing covers at this place. Definitely recommend sitting outside for better sound if you're a fan of live music- Monterrey Dreaming Cocktail: Beautiful presentation and overall, a nice refreshing cocktail that was light with hints of citrus and herbal notes. My only regret was ordering just one and not more. Given the vast options of cocktails here, I would come again to try out the other drinks :)

I recently came to Tipsy Alchemist because of a women's group Facebook meetup. I was skeptical because I've never really had a great experience drinking in any bar on Rainey street. I walked up the stairs to get to the entrance and the inside was beautifully decorated for the holidays. I was greeted promptly and shown to where the meetup was happening. Our server was a delight. It was a quiet night with few patrons there, but she made us feel welcome and like we weren't a bother. She gave me drink recommendations and I ended up going with the espresso martini, without cream (per her suggestion). She was right. It was to die for. Plus, it gave me a small energy boost for our late night adventures.
