The Texa Rican 512

We were looking for something to order, pick up and take home to eat. We did a search and this happen to pop up. I am puerto rican and have had my food on the island as well (nothing beats that experience) BUT Im glad I gave them a try because his food was fresh, full of the rican flavor. I may have wanted a little bit more jugito poured over the mofongo, but it was all yummy. We had the shrimp mofongo and beef steak mofongo. They come with a good amount of rice. His service is great. he is friendly and efficient without compensating the flavor or quality of the food. Its a food truck parked in the same plaza as Cherry Creek. There is a table or two to sit and enjoy the food. I definitely recommend to give this food a try. Tip: Call him directly and place the order because I ordered with grub hub and noticed they up charge you a hefty amount for each plate. Wont be making that mistake again.

Finally! Puerto Rican food! The food was excellent. This father and son team work hard in their food truck and it was especially busy at the Latin Food Festival. We ordered the pork empanadas, rice and beans, and tostones. The father working the cash register apologized for the long wait and threw in a grilled chicken skewer with our order. Everything was delicious especially the tostones, freshly made to order!

We drove several hours to attend the Sazón Latin Food Festival. Our first stop was the Texa Rican 512 food truck. The owner was SO nice! We got the arroz con gandules and the tostones. I never make tostones at home because they're a hassle and his were AMAZING! Everything was delicious. The owner also sampled us a chicken skewer and the marinade he had on there was absolutely phenomenal. The owner was also the nicest of everyone we purchased from. We will definitely eat there again the next time we go to Austin as there were several menu items we were interested in.

Love this place. Not going to lie - It took a really long time (the first time) because they were just getting started and didn't know how much food to prepare for the business they were getting. But the food was phenomenal. Today we got it again (with the in-laws) and the food, once again, was amazing. We are going to Puerto Rico in two weeks, but still wanted some delicious food today. LolWe only call ahead now and pick-up the order - rather then stopping by the truck and ordering in-person. We get the fried pork and pernil mofongo plate. Do yourself a favor and try them out! The pork was hard and hard to eat seems it had been refried no sauce so couldn't soften it. The rice was ok but plain.

The food was very flavorful! It was hot and fresh, the portions are plentiful and overall a great experience of trying puerto rican food. The chef/owner was very down to earth. I definitely recommend

This review is from today's visit at the Texa Rican 512 food truck at the Latin food festival, San Antonio. Many options to choose from but I went with an order of Tostones and side of fried pork. They were made to order, took less than 10 minutes and they were on point. Delicioso and super amazing. Chef was very friendly and courteous. Would definitely recommend and on my next trip to Austin, I'll be on the lookout for y'all. Mil Gracias.

Bought tostones from this truck at the Sazon Latin food fest...wrapped in paper..fried rock hard like a potato chip..very disappointed

This was before I ate it and let me tell you, when I say this transported me back to my childhood, I'm not joking. The flavors made me emotional, this is actually authentic Puertorican Cuisine in Austin. I used to love Chago's back when it was still open. I love this just the same or more, this is my new spot now, where I can taste alittle bit of home. highly recommend checking this out, the owner/cook is very nice and helpful as well and very diligent. Its amongst other food trucks on Menchaca, South Austin, where the vibes are still "Austin".

Fresh food and the taste is authentic. Service is prompt and made to order. Owner is talkative very friendly. Clean as food trucks go. The general area is pretty tidy.
