The Lunch Box

I'm so happy we found The Lunch Box. I had the chicken fried steak, loaded mashed potatoes, and gravy; my husband had the cheeseburger and fries and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back soon! They are very welcoming, and take good care of you!

Looks to be a local favorite. The lady who checked us out has been there 11 years. Two friends and I stopped for lunch on our way from Houston to San Antonio. We were drawn by the high Yelp rating and close proximity to the highway. When we entered it was obvious we weren't locals and those close by started helping us understand how to order. :)I ordered one of two daily specials, meat loaf with a choice of two sides. I asked the man taking our order to choose his favorites for me, so I got macaroni and cheese and stewed zucchini squash. My friends ordered cheeseburgers cooked and dressed to order with onion rings and fries, respectively. Once we'd sat the waitress brought us complementary fried fish, the other daily special, to sample. It was beautifully cooked and the fish tasted fresh and clean. When our food arrived I was also given some corn with my meal. The meatloaf was well seasoned and of good quality. The tomato gravy was good and would have been perfect with a tweak of sweetness to balance the acidity. I ate every bite though! The sides were all good. The meal reminded me of something from grandma's house. The cheeseburgers looked beautiful and by all accounts were really good. Both friends remarked that the buns were yummy. The crinkle fries were both soft and crispy and the onion rings were hand breaded and delicious. We all left happy. Get your lunch at The Lunch Box!

Stopped here while traveling back to Austin. People were super friendly, the food was good like home cooking, and the prices where reasonable. Cheese enchiladas (with chips, queso, & salsa), burger with fries and small salad with 3 drinks was $21. My son loved the burger and it was a decent size. Fries were yummy too! Fast service even during lunch hour.

Tried this place on our way back from Austin. Great hamburgers and fries. Nachos were good too! Next time I'd like to try the turkey dinner and enchiladas. Will for sure go back.Service was good too everyone super friendly.

Food was delicious, we came on a Thursday and the special was pork chops, it was delicious, husband had the Cajun shrimp pasta and he loved it, son had a cheeseburger and tots and it was really good, service was fast and ladies were friendly, ambience was nice.

Great food at a reasonable cost. The service is good. Food brought by to you promptly if you choose not the buffet.

Delicious food, great price, comfy chair. What else could you want? I've been once but will definitely return.So far I've had the Smothered pork chops, baked potato, cabbage and roll, with tea. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, corn and roll with tea.Turkey and dressing,mashed potatoes, green bean casarol and roll with tea. Meatloaf, new potatoes, green beans and roll with tea. I'm full but not broke.

Very good food we had a cheeseburger and a Philly cheese steak sandwich with fries. It took a little while to get our food but worth the wait. Cute place with good music.

Cafeteria style home cooking wonderful food very friendly staff. You have to try the funnel cake fries. They are excellent!!!

The people at the front were very nice and friendly and when we told them we had never been there before they more more than happy to explain to us how everything worked. The food was very good and a great price. We ordered a full sized chicken fried steak with mac and mashed potatoes and a Philly cheesesteak with fries for only like $24 total. They also gave us complementary cookies.
