Happy Lobster Truck is located right on Rainey Street in the small enclave of food trucks. Landlocked Austin isn't exactly where I'd expect to find a great lobster roll, but that made this stick out from the pizza and quesadillas from the neighboring trucks.Wow, was I pleasantly surprised by how good this was. There were generous chunks of lobster claw and tail meat, sandwiched by perfectly buttered and toasted buns. I love that the lobster is held securely by the brioche hamburger buns, rather than overflowing from a hot dog bun cut length-wise . That said, I still managed to drop a whole piece of claw the first time I had it, probably losing around $3 right there. Overall, a great place to get a fresh lobster roll if you can't make it out to New England, and much more fairly priced than other lobster rolls I've had.

I was out on Rainey Street and since our group was hungry we decided to duck into the food truck park instead of finding a brick and mortar that everyone could reach consensus on. After walking around I decided on The Happy Lobster because I thought it was the best option and seeing it gave me a taste for lobster. I ended up not only getting the lobster roll but the lobster mac and cheese bites to bring back to my group. The roll itself was pretty good-the lobster was meaty and obviously with Texas being landlocked it didn't have the briny, freshness that you'd get from New England. The lobster mac and cheese balls was on the smaller side, but battered well and piping hot. I ended up eating another and liked it. If I were to go back to Rainey and was hungry I'd probably eat here, but that's a pretty big if.

This was absolutely a happy lobster experience. The happy lobster truck is located in the food truck lot of Rainey street in Austin, they're a bit tucked in the back right side, so be patient as you walk down the lot.Their menu was simple, essentially a happy or spicy lobster roll with other select sides. I got a happy lobster roll with some fries. Food was made to order so there was a bit of a wait. Once it was out, it did not disappoint. Lots of lobster meat, super buttery bun. It was a glutinous rich sandwich.

One of the few places you can get straight-from-Maine lobsters in Austin. It's nice and buttered up with a toasted brioche bun. Lots of large meaty chunks of chilled lobster. It's pretty darn good. One wish is that it was more toasted, that way it'd contrast very nicely against the lobster, but that's me! The Angry fries with lobster is good as wellYou'll find them at the end of the Rainey Street food truck lot, though the food truck spot moved, so don't go to 82 Rainey St!However, just because it's a food truck, it's not 'cheap' by any means, it's still lobster! $24 for a lobster sandwich is a lot, or $17 for a lobster topped fries. Drunk you appreciates the hungover you's sacrifice.

Yum! Fresh and hot, this food truck is in a hopping part of Austin. Located in a food truck court, it is easy for anyone in your party to find something they like. There wasn't a line- maybe because they are on the high end for a food truck since they are serving lobster. But the $24 lobster and wish and fries were delicious! Bun was nicely grilled and lobster well prepared. Quite tasty. Fries were hot, crispy, and generously seasoned. They stayed crispy throughout the meal. While I might have liked something that more resembled a lobster roll from the northeast, this sandwich was delicious in its own right.

I got the junior angry lobster sandwich. It wasn't spicy though and was around $14 for it. They packed a lot of meat which I love! The bread was buttered. It came with a small side of fries. The fries aren't the best, but the sandwich was good.

I actually saw a segment on one of the TV morning shows about the success of these young entrepreneurs who had this ridiculous idea to bring fresh-from-Maine-lobsters to all parts of the U.S. We're so lucky that Austin is one of those cities that enjoy hot and fresh lobster bites.Start with the lobster bisque if it's on the menu, it's served with some nicely buttered grilled toast - flavorful. Then move on to the Happy Lobster sandwich with its generous portion of lobster meat on a buttered poorboy style bread - definitely rich and amazingly good. I paired it with the Angry fries and added more fresh portions of lobster on top, I guarantee you that you won't have regular fries again.Yes, it's a food truck and yes, it's a bit pricey, but you won't regret the meal.

Yum Alert! My friend introduced me to Happy Lobster last weekend. Tried the regular roll and my friend had the angry roll. Both were generous portions served on a crisp, buttery bun. Still a splurge at $24 each but rolls come with delicious fries seasoned with Old Bay so makes for a filling meal. Get over there now - get happy Pro Tip: take order to go and enjoy with cocktails at your favorite Rainey St. bar

This truck dishes out the most amazing lobster rolls... as the truck is emblazoned with, it has been a Maine source of happiness for many years -- having found the truck at several locations. The lobster is always perfectly cooked and generously portioned in the soft buttery bun/roll -- comes 'angry' (spicy) as an option. Also a must, Whoopie Pies were on the menu during earlier visits but not the last few times. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it is lobster after all -- and worth every bit.

This place is amazing the Angry lobster sandwich is a must try. I've never had lobster just melt in your mouth like this. The perfect combination with the brioche bun. It came highly recommended and it was definitely spot on. I feel like I have to revisit before the end of my weekend trip.
