What an experience!! The perfect spot for an intimate special occasion or date night. This is one of those places where you pretty much have to make a reservation in advance. The vibe is classy and even the servers are dressed up in black. We waited a couple minutes before being seated. Jordan was our server and she had good recommendations. My favorite parts of the meal were definitely the drinks and the desserts: Drink: The Tea Party - comes with 2 drinks (they gave us 3 since the bread was taking awhile). They pour it out of the tea kettle for you. I loved the two little cookie dishes it came with!Complimentary bread: Flakey and warm with a hint of sweetness. Food: Overall, the food is very flavorful, but I did find it to be a tad too salty. - Rigatoni: My favorite dish we ordered! The pasta pieces are huge and the sauce is delicious and full of flavor. A little spicy too but not too much.- Mushroom pizza: it's the size of a medium pizza with 8 slices so this is good to order to fill you up. - Steak Tartare: I saw a lot of reviews mention this, but the flavor and texture were disappointing. I don't know if it was left out for too long, but it didn't taste very fresh and the bread was hard. Presentation was excellent though. - Scallops: The scallops had the perfect texture and the corn/puree was a great balance of sweetness to the saltiness of the scallops. There are only 3 scallops. Dessert: The "Faux Cheesy" - assorted desserts on a mock charcuterie board. They don't have a dessert menu so the server will verbally tell you about each one, they run for about $20 each. I've never seen a review mention the "Faux Cheesy" but I'm glad we chose it. The "cheese" was key lime pie, the "olives" were lemon cake in white chocolate, and the "salami" was raspberry semifreddo. Would highly recommend!!No complaints about the service! They refilled our waters often and another server even volunteered to take a picture for us when they saw us taking pictures. We used the inKind app to use an offer at the time, and it worked with no issue. They just couldn't split the check for us to each use the app. Since the music is loud and it's hard to hear across the table, I wouldn't recommend this for large birthday parties, but more for intimate gatherings of no more than 4 people.

I appreciated the simplicity of the menu. Their cocktail selection is really fun, with lots of creative options. The price range is around $16 to $45, which felt quite high for cocktails. I saw some extravagant ones at other tables, and the presentation looked fantastic--perfect for celebratory occasions. The music was a bit too party-like for me, which didn't quite match the romantic interior. The location is great, but parking can be tricky. We ended up parking in a nearby garage, which cost $10 per hour, so plan accordingly if you're driving. What We Ordered:Steak Tartare - $24 (5/5)The best dish of the night! The bread had the perfect crunch--not too hard. The steak itself was delicate, almost like sashimi, and very meaty. The truffle flavor was subtle but complemented the sauce (a mayo-based one, I think) really well. It came with four pieces, great for sharing between two people. Every bite was a bit of heaven.Mulugueta Mojito - $16 (5/5)Super refreshing! It didn't taste too strong of alcohol, which I loved, and it had the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess from the lime.Seared Diver Scallops - $35 (4.5/5)Three giant scallops served with roasted corn and sauce. Beautifully presented, with a slight hint of sourness in the sauce. The scallops were fresh, flavorful, and not too salty or fishy. The corn complemented the dish well. A well-balanced plate overall.Seared Faroe Island Salmon - $34 (4/5)A big slice, cooked perfectly--still soft and juicy. It came with a small portion of shiitake and maitake mushrooms. Our server was great--attentive and sweet--but they mixed up our order and those of nearby tables multiple times. Despite that, I'd still love to visit again and try other dishes.

This place is a whole vibe! The atmosphere is effortlessly cool and sexy, right in the heart of downtown Austin. From the moment you walk in, the hosts are incredibly welcoming and accommodating--way friendlier than most trendy spots, which sets the tone for a great experience. The live DJ creates the perfect ambiance with chill, current music that enhances the vibe without overpowering conversation. And the food? Absolutely incredible. This visit, we had the spicy rigatoni, lobster sliders, and chicken tenders--all flawless. And don't even get me started on the fresh bread... unreal. On our last visit, we tried the oysters, spaghetti, and steak tartare--each one just as amazing. If you're looking for a trendy spot with great energy, top-tier service, and an unbeatable aesthetic, this is it. We'll definitely be back!

The Guest House Austin is almost always listed as a top 10 romantic spot in Austin but I would caution that it is not for every couple. The decor is absolutely beautiful with classy furniture and lighting and the bar area is very intimate and exclusive feeling. The vibe and music however, is more of a lively club lounge kind of feel. I really enjoyed eating here and embraced the unexpected atmosphere, but if you are looking for somewhere more quietly romantic, manage your expectations here.First off, we got free pastry with olive oil that tasted like a square croissant. It's got a nice soft crunch and with the olive oil tastes really really good.Steak Taretare (5/5)You should not dine here without ordering this. The toast is crunchy but not so much that it's too much of a contrast to the soft delicious steak on top. When you bite into it, it's seems as if it just elegantly yields to the flavor of the steak flavor and seasonings. Seared Diver Scallops (5/5)These scallops are very big and tastes just decadent! It comes with caramelized corn and sauce that includes parsnip and aji amarillo. The best way to eat this is to cut a piece of scallop, and liberally dip and slide it in the rich and creamy sauce. There's a yellow border around the sauce and it adds another depth of flavor to the scallop so make sure you dip that part too. The flavor of this dish is just amazing to me, with hints of citrus, sweet and savory profiles. My only gripe is that there's only 3 scallops. I think 4 would hit the spot. Salmon Faroe Island Salmon (5/5)This salmon has, maitake, shiitake, & enoki mushrooms with ponzu brown butterServer asked if medium well done is ok, and I said I wanted it "slightly" more rare than that and guess what? It came out absolutely perfect, with inside showing just a hint of pink. The salmon is a very large and satisfying portion and the flavor is very delicious but I wish there were more than just a few mushrooms. Our server, Mikelya, looked like she really enjoys her job and our company. She's very sweet and takes the time to explain the food and drink options. The operation of this restaurant however definitely needs more improvement. From the time we sat down to when we left, I think I counted 7 times the servers came out with the incorrect order to the wrong table including one time on our table as well. And I think it's almost comical that they twice gave the free appetizer to two different tables when they were finished eating. Lots of puzzled faces and annoyed expressions that night.I also think the tables are placed way too close to each other to the point that if you wanted to go the bathroom it's a bit of an ordeal.Despite those hiccups, I think the food is amazing and I'll surely come back to try other items.

Great food and great ambiance. What more could you want!I had a fabulous time at The Guest House. Shoutout to Jordan for her amazing service and recommendations! She recommend the Spicy Rigatoni and it did NOT disappoint. I will definitely be getting that again. For drinks, my friend and I shared the Tulgey Woods. SO TASTY & GORGEOUS. The "tree" is made of green apple cotton candy. It complimented the drink so well, and it was good on its own!In conclusion, The Guest House is worth the hype. Had an amazing time!

The Guest House is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere, ambiance, and finish out are warm and welcoming.
