A good food option if you work or live in the Domain. I wouldn't call it authentic Thai because it's an elevated fusion style but I think it's actually pretty good! I loveee their sauces - no matter what you order, get the Boom sauce and thank me later! The spicy Nam Jim Jaew sauce that comes with the ribeye is also pretty good if you like a good kick! Crab Fried Rice - I think this is one of the best crab fried rice I've had. It's not soggy and fishy like some places make it. The ribeye - Cooked well and can tell the meat is fresh so the natural flavor is really good but could use a tad bit more of salt. Putting it in the sauces helped me though Wings - delicious crispy and the Boom sauce on it is to die for. The inside of the chicken itself can also use a tad bit of salt Wontons - just get them! I come here just to get them as a snack sometimes Service - they are friendly but few so can be slow during busy times. You can see the chefs cooking station and sometimes there's just one chef. But don't have any major complaints about service

I've been to Thailand too many times so I'm always skeptical to try Thai food in the US as many places are Americanized, especially a place located at The Domain. However, Thai Kun surprises me with pretty good Thai food. We ordered multiple dishes to try: papaya salad, crispy coco, clay pot, tom yum soup, beef panang curry, rotisserie chicken (not captured in photo). Papaya salad: WARNING...this is SPICY but delicious! You need to have pretty good spice tolerance for this because there's no spice level adjustment, so you will have to go with what they have. I've heard the food here is cooked in Northern style which is spicier and a bit different than other Thai places. Crispy coco: Such a delicious bowl - creamy from coconut milk, crispy texture from crispy rice, slightly tart from some pickles, silky from silken tofu, and soft rice with sautéed onion really wrapping all the flavors and textures together. You can add some crab meat for $6 extra, but I don't think it's needed because the amount of crab meat is so little that it's not worth the extra $6.Tom yum soup: You can judge a Thai restaurant by trying their tom yum soup. The soup is slightly spicy but has nice heat, tangy, and refreshing. The mushroom and big shrimp add great sweetness to the broth. Clay pot: It's sauteed glass noodles served with several big prawn. Very flavorful. Beef panang curry: Rich and bold flavors. It's very different than the panang curry that I know. Perhaps it's the Northern style. The beef ribs are very tender that falls apart easily and really melts in your mouth. This dish is slightly spicy, served with a big bowl of white rice. Rotisserie chicken: Nothing special about it. It was a little burnt when we ordered. It was served with pickled cabbage and a couple of sauces. This is a very safe choice for those who cannot handle any of Thai spicy dishes. Pricing is quite high. It's $20-22 per dish. It's understandable as it's located on Rock Rose at The Domain. Service is great and staff is helpful. The restaurant is very clean and has great vibe.

Staff was friendly and attentive. On a Friday night, this place was pretty busy. We went at 6:50p and had a 15 min wait. The food was delicious. We had the red snapper special, crispy coconut rice with crab and chicken wings. My favorite was the crispy coconut rice with crab. It has the coconut and pickle flavors and a crispy texture.

Delicious Thai food in the Domain!Things we had -Papaya salad: 10/10 veggies were fresh. Overall a little spicy but nothing you can't handle. Fried chicken skin: 10/10 great app to share. Dipping sauce is a great pairingCrab rice: 10/10 real chunks of crab meat Pad Thai tofu: 8/10 noodles and sauce were great but I felt like the tofu lacked flavorOctopus skewers: 8/10 flavoring was good and cooked well. Portion is a little small. 2 skewers with about 6 pieces totalAt this restaurant they CAN NOT change the spice level to any of their dishes. So consider that when ordering! This is THAI SPICY

While hanging out in the Domain, I decided stop by and give this place a try for dinner, and I can't say that I was blown away by anything at Thai Kun, but overall it's a good solid Thai restaurant with decent food for the price. We ordered the crispy fried chicken skin as an appetizer, which I enjoyed but I would say overall has more of an acquired taste, since it's extremely unhealthy and can taste/feel like you are legitimately just eating fried fat (because you are lol).I ordered the green curry with chicken, which had decent flavors, and I did like that there was eggplant too, which you don't always see in Thai curry dishes. I do wish the rice portion served alongside the curry was a bit larger, as I ran out of rice before curry because of the small rice portion given (a common problem I've noticed at other Thai restaurants as well). The Thai Tea and Pad See Ew which I also tried were both a solid 3/5 stars, not bad, but nothing groundbreaking or amazing either. Overall I think I'd return here if I was in the area and looking for Thai food.Being in the Domain, the ambiance at this restaurant is pretty nice and service is fairly quick as well.

My favorite Thai restaurant in all of Austin! Standout dishes include pad see ew, pad thai, mango coconut sticky rice, and rib eye. My Thai friend says it's authentic too! The flavors are so tasty bold and unique!

I come here a lot, and everytime i go i try something new. This last time i tried the thai roasted chicken and it was $25 and a bit underwhelming. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but it lacked some flavor, or some personality. It did come with two sauces on the side to dress the chicken, but I didn't love either of them. Will continue working my way through this menu, since it's one of my faves!

I ate here for a work lunch, and I was not disappointed! I visited with a large group of coworkers, and even though we didn't call ahead to reserve a table (it was last minute lunch), they were thankfully able to seat us immediately in the back room. And despite our party of 10+ people, our order still came out pretty quickly. If you are down for a "Hot Ones" style challenge then this is the place for you! Before ordering, our waiter made sure to inform us that their dishes were extremely spicy, since the chef wanted to provide an authentic experience. I appreciated them telling us that, since even my order - the green curry - made me sweat. The green curry was delicious, especially paired with the rice on the side. My only complaint is that the curry wasn't super substantial, and for the price I'd hoped for something more filling. The interior is clean and nicely decorated. Lunchtime on a weekday wasn't that busy, but I wouldn't surprise them with a large group (like me and my coworkers). If you visit, expect to pay more than you would at another Thai spot since it's located in the Domain.

I've heard my friends rave about Thai Kun so many times that I finally had to try it! I went on a busy Sunday, so there was a 15-minute wait. Luckily, being at the Domain meant I could do some shopping while I waited, which I love! After grabbing a coffee and two macarons at Lorraine, I got the text that our table was ready! Our waitress was incredibly nice and warned me that the food here is spicy since it was my first time. I played it safe and ordered the Pad Thai, and I'm SO glad I did. It was definitely spicy, but probably one of the best Pad Thais I've ever had. The portions were HUGE too--I ended up taking the rest to go!The food is on the pricier side (which my friends had mentioned), but for the quality, service, and portion size, it was totally worth it. It's a great spot for a date, and I can't wait to go back and try their Thai iced tea!

I've been here twice. Both times have been great. The corn fritters are my favorite appetizer. We ordered:Corn FrittersPad ThaiOctopus SkewersPad Ka ProwThai-Kun Fried ChickenIt is flavorful, hot, and yummy. If you see a little pepper next to the menu item, you best believe it will be SPICY. THAI STYLE SPICY. ZERO BOUNDARIES. I was disappointed with the Thai-Kun Fried Chicken - the cabbage that comes with it is sweet and tangy, but I did not like the deconstruction of the dish. It did taste better as leftovers. Service was fast, and friendly. No issues with seating. My go to spot in the Domain, for sure.
