Texican Cafe

Texican Cafe serves seriously good Tex-Mex food! My wife and I stopped by for lunch on a weekday and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the dishes. We ordered the Tortilla Soup and a Chimichanga, and both were excellent. The portions were very generous, and the flavors were spot on.The complimentary chips and salsa were another highlight - fresh, crispy chips paired with salsa with just the right spice and flavor. It was a great start to the meal.However, the ambiance and service left something to be desired. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet the lights were off, making it feel dark inside. It had nice decor, but the dim setting didn't do it justice. Our waitress wasn't very attentive despite the slow afternoon, and when we asked for takeout bags, she simply dropped them off in a hurry.That said, the food alone makes Texican Cafe worth visiting. Next time, we'll likely opt for takeout instead. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely try the food, but don't expect a lively atmosphere or exceptional service.

Came in on Saturday for a family lunch, waited by the host stand for about 3-4 minute before my mom went off to find an employee to assist us with getting sat. Started with some chips and queso which we enjoyed, my mother noting who she enjoyed their chips. We ordered the sour cream enchiladas, chicken fajitas tacos, carne guisada plate, and pork chop and egg brunch plate. Overall, my carne guisada was okay, I've had more flavorful gravy in the past elsewhere and prefer Mexican rice with just more robust flavors, where it was all just pretty flat. My brother seemed to enjoy his enchilada and my mother spoke highly about her pork chop.I'd likely want to try other places before coming back however our server, (believe her name started with a V) was wonderful.

The Texican is solid for a quick lunch. We only had an hour so we stopped by and ordered two crunchy beef tacos and a bowl of tortilla soup. I couldn't believe how big the bowl was! Definitely had to take half of it to-go. Everything was good and service was attentive.

Great Texas-Mex spot in Kyle! Not the best Tex-Mex in Central Texas but definitely a great casual spot to check out for gatherings with friends and family. The price is of great value and the food is consistently good. The service was fast and friendly. One of our go to week day mealspots in Kyle. The fajitas for one is huge and we usually split it with two people but order extra tortillas.

The lunch and happy hour specials here are a great value! The food and service are decent overall. I usually order the sour cream enchiladas or the taco salad bowl--delicious and filling! One thing I find odd is the extra charge when substituting meat for beans; it doesn't quite make sense to me.

The food is always great but we had to pay for chips that wasn't even a full bag and our to go boxes were upside down. I really enjoy this food and environment but I am a little upset we paid for not even a half of bag of chips. Luckily we live close so the juices from the food didn't leak out onto my car floor board.

3rd Review!!! As always 500 STARS!!! We always have a great experience at Texican Cafe in Kyle! Being a vegetarian Texican Cafe is a go to for me because the beans are not made with lard. YAY! We live in the 55+ community across the street Sage Plum Creek & A group of us went to Texican Cafe in Kyle on Friday night 8/30/24 at 7:03pm, Table #206 & our waitress was Stephenie! Our dinner was super great as always & the vibe is always amazing! Stephenie was so amazing! She not only had out big table, but she also had the table behind us with a bunch of FUN & Energetic guys that we all kind of had fun together! Stephenie is an amazing waitress & we are so thankful we got her! We will be back very soon & hope to see Stephenie again! Thank you to the manager here as well! This was my first time here and Wow! We had a great server! We took our time and he always came to check on us!The queso was delicious and the shrimp and beef fajitas were so tasty! I got both the flour and corn tortillas, so delicious! This place was pretty huge and I can't wait to come back and bring Jeff! I was just here for a team meeting!

Found this driving around Kyle and wanted some carne guisada. My usual spot was closed early on a Sunday. This popped up. Came in. Seated promptly and ordered the carne guisada plate double rice no beans and a watermelon margarita. Came out with in min. Very good food. Small portions tho for what I paid. We'll visit again when friends

We often ate at the Texican in Austin. Now we have been to the Kyle location twice. Great service. I'm in love with the spinach enchiladas! Beautiful artwork. Try it!
