Giselle and Vera were amazing helping us as this was our first time here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. We tried the brisket, turkey, burnt ends, original and spicy sausage. Even the sides of Mac and cheese, corn bread and beans were amazing. Don't forget to get dessert the chocolate mousse was a great way to end the meal. A little chilly today but the outside area would be perfect on a warmer sunny day.

On my way to do some fishing in Port O Conner. The detour here seemed almost impossible to pass up. This experience was incredible. The environment was even better.Veronica & Roberto were exceptional hosts. They were both very knowledgeable of the menu as well as the history within TBs. New favorite & will be back! - Blake

I decided to visit this location on my way back to Houston....mine as well since it's only a 30 min detour when leaving SA. They seem to have a smaller footprint than some other locations and the dining room is definitely smaller as well. This makes sense for being in a town of only 14,000. If it was my money, I would go to Black's Original instead of here if those were my only choices to make on a weekday. Good thing the bbq tastes pretty much the same between most all Terry Black's locations. The brisket they gave me was a lil heavy on the salt for sure but was moist and tender. The sausage was a tad different as well....tasted a bit more dry but a bit more hill country tasting than other locations. I've always liked their sausage though.My colleague was very disappointed with his $50 meal. His brisket was the very end of the flat, dry and overcooked. Part of his problem was he didn't ask for a particular cut upon ordering. His cornbread was also dry as a bone and began falling apart when he picked it up. His cobbler was decent. He indicated the pork ribs were cooked perfectly but he didn't like the glaze they had put on it. He said his favorite item was maybe the red onions. Needless to say, he tossed most of his food in the garbage well before I even finished eating.Probably won't be returning the next time I visit town based on his bad experience.

On my road trip back to Dallas from San Antonio on New Year's Day, I decided to make a slight detour to Terry Black's BBQ in Lockhart. It was my first time trying TB's, and I had high hopes. As expected, the smells and vibes were fantastic when I pulled up--the building full of smokers is definitely a sight to see.Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the price tag. I ordered 1/2 lb of sliced brisket, 1 beef rib, 1 pint of potato salad, 1 pint of mac & cheese, and a fountain drink, which came to a whopping $100.78.The brisket was decent but underwhelming.The beef rib was impressive--it looks like something straight out of "The Flintstones." But for $35, I expected more flavor. It felt more like a novelty item than a meal worth savoring.The potato salad, however, was a pleasant surprise. It had a strong dill flavor, which I usually don't enjoy, but they really nailed it. The mac & cheese, on the other hand, was some of the worst I've ever had--seriously, they should scrap that recipe.Overall, it was a solid meal but falls on the lower end of Texas BBQ spots I've visited. Maybe at $75 instead of $100, I'd consider giving it another shot.

One of my stops on a day trip to Lockhart. I will say this place did get packed when I left and I can see why. It's probably the best brisket I've ever had. Great flavor, very tender, and it just melts in your month. The Jalepeno Cheddar sausage was really good.If I'm heading back to the counter to get some food to bring back to Houston.....then I'd say you've got good meat! I got some brisket and sausage to eat later that week. When the time was right, I went ahead and pulled my meat out........ of the fridge. LOL.Folks working the counters were very nice and gave me sauces, pickles, onions, etc.

Been here a second time now and still great! Came on a Saturday afternoon in January and it was well attended but not overcrowded like the one in Austin.We each got a sandwich, a sliced brisket and a turkey. Both were fantastic and did not skimp on the meat. We also got the mac and cheese and Cole slaw. I loved the Mac, not as much the slaw, but still good.You really can't go wrong with Terry Black's. I always recommend it for stellar bbq!My only issue with this location was that there were sooooo many flies in the outdoor seating area. They really need to do something about this!

Wow, this is the best in the state. The cream corn and mac and cheese are made to perfection. We made the drive for the food and experience and both were incredible. You must get the brisket and sausage. You really don't need Bar-B-Q sauce as the meat is full of flavor. I like putting a piece of brisket on a bread with a thin line of sauce and pickles. My mouth is watering just thinking about this meal .

Delicious barbecue! We enjoyed an assortment of meats and sides, have plenty to take home for the week too! On top of the delicious food, the service is second to none. Gisselle and Veronica were helpful in completing our order, slicing the meats, and helping packing up our leftovers to go! Each time we've been, the staff is so friendly, and always goes above and beyond! We left feeling truly appreciated!

We were served by Rob & Vern who were so friendly that in less than 5 minutes they learned where we are from, what brought us to their restaurant, and more. They were also eager to hear our reviews after we were done. They offered us burnt ends that we fought over. Best Mac'n cheese! I refused to leave one noodle in the bowl. Most amazing cream corn in Texas.Fast, Delicious, worth the exit off the toll road to juice up for the rest of the trip!
