It's NOT fine dining that you will spend lots of money at, butyou will leave with a belly full and enjoy the foodimmensely. I believe it to be good Tex-Mex food and wellworth the visit.The place is fairly clean and location easy to fi nd. Itslocation is in a strip mall so lots going on.Service is excellent. Our waitress was on top of it and gaveus out menu, drinks and gave us the time to checkout themenu without rush. In the interim, the chips were fresh andsalsa was medium spice and good.We ordered the mini-tacos and a plate of cheeseenchiladas. Each of the entrees were delicious.On the mini-tacos since they off er various selections, wewere able to select various to try them all out. Each having afl avor of its own, as they should, were very good.The cheese enchilada were quite cheesy and topped withonions. Great rice and charro beans with the meal.I'd definitely recommend it and would return.

The food has changed a bit. Menudo was very spicy and the Taco Salad was huge. Neighborhood joint ambiance. Excellent service as always. Note: tiny parking spaces!

Nice convenient location for some good food. The mole enchiladas were my fave. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. Service was fantastic and friendly.

You'll love dining at LaFamilia! Araceli greeted us with a smile, ensuring our evening was delightful from start to finish. The chips, salsa, and queso? Absolutely perfect. And when it comes to the fajitas and quesadillas, they're not just good, they're a really really good, all at a price that feels just right. It's not just a meal, it's an experience that leaves you eager to return. Can't wait for our next visit.

Dang, last review I did for this place was 2009. In my defense Texas has plenty of Mex-Tex-Mex offerings. Back in the day, this strip mall in South Austin had a few offerings including my breakfast fave Lone Star Kolaches. Can't remember exactly when an Indian joint came online. I do recall a pho place which I didn't like that much. Main reason for hanging here was the Firestone in the same complex / parking lot. You know, the 5 hour wait for an alignment? GF and I were sitting at home riding out the recent hell hath frozen Austin over watching No Reservations. Good one too where Bourdain visits Del Rio, and makes his way in and out of Mexico all the way to Laredo eating street tacos among other cuisine. While she wasn't impressed with the sushi restaurant with rattlesnake whiskey she did say she missed street tacos at Taco Cabana. Babe, I can do you one better; second day when temps went up we jumped in the truck for supplies and food. Locals eating HUGE bowls of menudo; welcome to your famalia substitute for fast food. Mole enchiladas while good weren't as good as our last Alpine, Texas adventure. Al Pastor tacos on corn tortillas were better than the burnt (Bistek) steak offerings. Since the nearby Austin based Tex-Mex powerhouse Chuy's has dumped Chili Rellenos off the menu...I might just make Taqueria La Famalia a regular in our dining rotation. Thanks for being open and inviting; great service too. Won't take 10 years to come back.

So delicious I love coming here ive never had a bad experience. The food has always been delicious. I will happily recommend this place for dinner

The best hole in the wall Mexican spot in south congress! No frills. It's always full of people eating because the service is good friendly and is authentic Mexican food!! The barbacoa tacos are TO DIE FOR do yourself a favor and order those. They even serve beef soup with the option of ordering the pure beef broth! So the menu is very comprehensive and that's coming from a first gen Latina with an unfortunately picky palate today I'm ordering the chicken fajitas

One of my favorite hidden spots. Great service, food and price! Whether it be for coffee and a taco or dinner to go, this establishment makes you feel like home. Enjoy!

A small, tucked away restaurant that I decided to give a try while traveling on business. The hostess was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. Warm tortilla chips are always a delight and the enchiladas were amazing. Would definitely come back when in town.
