This place was awesome and the waiter was always ready to take care of us. Very authentic Mexican food with good atmosphere. They even have some cheap tacos for about 2$. I also liked all the salsa's they had here, we had at least 3 with some being hotter than others. The chips weren't all that special but the salsa was nice with the rest of the food. Me and my family liked it here.

The food here tasted amazing today! It was cooked fairly simply, but the flavors were excellent. They have a large menu for such a small place and we both tried something we hadn't had before. Both of our meals had beef, chicken and shrimp, but hers had sausage and a large intact grilled onion with the green stem still intact - wonderful flavor!Not a downside for us, but the staff only spoke Spanish. If that's a problem, use Goggle Translate - the food was worth it.

Stopped in about 1245pm during their lunch run on a Tuesday. You can definitely tell this is a local hot spot for many people on their lunch break. If you enjoy authentic mexican food this is a MUST to stop at when in the area. NO TEX-MEX in here!! If that is what you enjoy, look elsewhere because everything here is LEGIT and authentic!!! The customer service here was great, and the waitress continuously followed up with me throughout my visit here. The ambiance does just enough to give you a clean place to sit, enjoy your food, and go!

Finally found authentic style Mexican food!!! We had the Al pastor and asada taco plate. Classic tacos with onions and cilantro served with rice and beans. The hot sauces also had good flavor. The overall atmosphere isn't impressive, very traditional style Mexican hole in the wall. Server didn't speak English but I was still easy to communicate with.

Wow! can't believe I just found this wonderful restaurant! Saw the place a few weeks ago while picking up my dry cleaning, and popped in to check it out. The menu seemed very different from the typical Austin Mexican restaurant, so definitely something I wanted to try. We came in today and were blown away by the delicious food. I had the "Molcajete," a delightful mixture of incredibly savory beef, chicken, shrimp cactus slices and grilled onion served in a traditional molcajete bowl. Freshly made tortillas set the dish off to perfection.My partner ordered the Parillada, another mixed meat dish that was also very delicious. Ambiance: This isn't formal dining -- think mom/pop cafe where you won't be embarrassed to lick your fingers, a good thing because you're gonna want to! Service is prompt and attentive. Our server didn't speak English, but we communicated the critical information easily enough. Taqueria Chalapa is the newest addition to my list of go-to restaurants.

We are here from San Antonio for a cheer competition and wanted some breakfast tacos...found this place on yelp and decided to try it out...staff was nice but the tacos were tiny...maybe 1/2 filled it I am lucky...had good flavor but sooo small, definitely not San Antonio tacos. Budget friendly but because you need 3-4 tacos to equal 2.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. We did online with delivery and were shorted a complete entree and 2 appetizers and the vegetarian tacos came with meat. When we called after it arrived they offer a cash refund IF WE CAME IN TO GET IT. The food was mediocre at best. An awful business.
