Authentic modern Asian spot in East Austin. The menu has a combination of Taiwanese, Chinese, and Japanese items. For appetizers, I tried the scallion pancake ($6) and beef dumplings ($14) - they tasted made from scratch and delicious. The New Holly Roll ($21) was hands down the best sushi roll I have ever had. The salmon was buttery and soft, and the scallop was charred perfectly adding complxity to the flavor of the whole roll.I had few bites of the Wagyu Beef ($19 + $1 rice) and it was solid too.The interior is so cute! Polite staff.

Yummy in our tummy's! This place is so good! My husband wanted dumplings and it was open late. Everything from the dumplings, soups, scallion pancake were super good. My favorite was these sushi nachos! Will definitely be back. Our server was a great and you can tell he really loved where he worked.

I ordered the chili oil wontons and the scallion pancake. The food was decent but the dumplings were lacking salt and the scallion pancakes had only a minimal amount of scallion greens in them. I would go back to try dine in to see if it was better.

Service and ambience were great, but the food is a bit pricey for what it is. The chili oil was delicious, but the rest didn't feel like anything particularly special.

Sweet Chive serves two types of cuisines: Taiwanese and Japanese. I couldn't decide which cuisine I was in the mood for, so I decided why not try both? I opted for the Wagyu Shaken Beef, Chili Wonton Dumplings, Scallion Pancakes, Egg Drop Soup, the Geovanna roll and a Jasmine Milk Tea with boba. Regrettably, the only dish that offered some reprieve was the Chili Wonton Dumplings, which our server had suggested. The Nitty Gritty on the order:- Scallion pancakes - Batter was too thick causing this dish to be dense, when it should be flaky and crispy. - Chili Wonton Dumplings - Being generous, this dish was served at room temperature, but was the most flavorful- Jasmine Milk Tea with boba - Strong jasmine notes (which I like) but this drink was too diluted and needed more creamer- Egg Drop Soup - Incredibly bland - Wagyu Shaken Beef - Beef was dry and not enough meat for such a large bowl of rice- Geovanna roll - had potential, but the tempura crumbs served in this dish had a strange taste that dominated this rollService: Our waitress was amazing. She was so sweet, gentle and had such a calming voice. I really wanted to like this place, but sadly, will not be returning. The food turned out to be disappointingly bland and didn't have any discernible spice or flavor.

I come to Sweet Chive out of convenience really. I live two blocks away. It is never busy and the orders are done quick. It is usually empty whenever I go to pick up my orders but I've never had a sit down dinner/lunch there. My go to is the cucumber noodles and the pan fried dumplings. Delicious every time. The noodles are perfectly cooked and flavorful, same with the dumplings. Other than that, everything else I've gotten from here has been quite disappointing.

Quick dinner stop again and service was courteous and prompt. Here's a run down of the dinner:1. Pan fried pork dumplings - crispy and yummy2. A couple of pieces of Ikura and a salmon skin handroll - check3. Tea egg - yowza - pricey at $3 but they are hard to find in the US4. Chive Pockets - delicious!5. Lu Rou Fan - so good - minced pork has so much flavor and it comes with a tea egg for $2 and I paired it with some purple rice.

1 = poor : 5 = greatCleanliness - 1Service - 2Food - 1Cleanliness - had to ask to have bar wiped down because it wasn't clean. Sent dishes (plate and spoon), because they weren't clean. Bathrooms weren't kept.Appetizers:Egg drop soup - flavorlessEgg roll - highlight of mealChili wonton - meh; boring Entree: Salmon and brown rice. It's like they forgot it. I thought it was fried initially. I had one bite (literally) and told them this isn't for me. Asked for my bill.Wasted calories and Friday evening here. One of the most unpleasant dining experiences I've had in recent memory.

My family did a dumpling crawl around Austin- all places we had never been. we ended the night at Sweet Chive which was the highlight of the evening. The dumplings were delicious, as was the clay pot beef, scallion cakes, and sushi. Great atmosphere and genuinely kind and caring staff. Overall, a happy place to be!
