Sushi Japon & Hibachi Grill

This place was packed when we arrived so we had to wait for a table. The food was yummy and the show was fun. I'd go back to enjoy another meal, but I'd make sure to secure a reservation because waiting while the smells were floating in the air was just not fun.

Enjoyed our traditional Christmas Day Hibachi lunch at Sushi Japon this year! It changed owners/names this past year I think. We have been doing a hibachi lunch since they kids were little and I was glad to see that this place remained a hibachi place! The cooks came out to flashing lights and the Gangdam style song playing which was fun. We ordered various meals from teriyaki salmon, beef, chicken and of course always love the shrimp appetizer! Appreciated the prompt seating, since we arrived as they opened at noon, and that they didn't wait for our table to fill up before sending a chef. They seemed very organized with quick service and we appreciated another hibachi Christmas memory! :-)

Food is delicious, new location is conveniently located. Service was quick and personable. Would definitely go back.

I ordered hibachi twice to go and the portions are great. The food was delicious and well cooked. They provided great service. I recommend the New York strip with fried rice.

Terrible ! We arrived on time last night for a birthday dinner. Host told us it would be a 45 minute wait. I explained that we had reservations, he said they had a lot of customers and "couldn't help it." Uh, yes you can. Take fewer rezzies, manage your business better. The tiny waiting area was full of people with reservations who were told they still had a long wait. That's ridiculous. They don't deserve to stay in business since they lie and inconvenience their customers. I will also mention that (unlike other hibachi places in austin) this spot used to be a small sushi restaurant they tried to modify into a hibachi grill. Tables are jammed in there, ventilation is poor, and customers sit shoulder to shoulder. ZERO

I really really wanted this to be my go to in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver. The food was not the best quality even though the price didn't reflect this. The cocktails were also lackluster, using bottom of the barrel liquor and $12 each. The service was good and I'm sad that it's just not it. I will try again in some months and pray the quality improves.
