Such a great experience eating here! The meats are EXCELLENT! They know how to season and cook them perfectly. We ordered the 3-meats combo, which turned out to be a perfect choice for two hungry adults. The 3 sides are great choices as well, they helped to change the palate between different bites of the meats. The biggest difference compared to my lunch at Terry Black, is that Stubbs is so well managed and organized for you to sit down to have an enjoyable meal. Believe me- I asked many people how they enjoyed eating in a chaotic & overwhelmingly noisy and crowded love, NOBODY really enjoyed the meal they way they would or could. I personally also enjoy the fact that they don't just dump tons of salt in their food.Oh, don't forget to try their banana pudding before you go.

This iconic, locally renowed masterpiece had been the subject of much intrigue prior to my visit. It all began with a trip to the grocery store several years earlier. Being from Ohio, BBQ isn't exactly part of the culinary vernacular. So, when I saw a distinctive looking bottle of BBQ sauce on the shelf depicting a man in a cowboy hat, I just knew I had to try it!Well, needless to say I was not disappointed! Curiously, a quick internet search revealed that "Stubbs" was in fact a real person who started a restaurant in Austin Texas where his craft became immortalized. It was at this time that I knew I had to pay homage to the man in the cowboy hat!Stubbs is located in downtown Austin with limited street parking available. From the outside, it looks like a retro saloon. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a hostess who sat me at a table. The rustic brick and wood interior has photos adorning the walls and there is even a basement with a stage for live music! My server brought out a menu and went over the selections. Whether you like pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, beef, chicken, turkey, or sausage, Stubbs has it all along with a variety of side dishes. I decided on a sandwich plate consisting of chicken, with pinto beans, mashed potatoes, and cornbread! The sandwich plate arrived within 15 minutes and I was ready to savor the flavor. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the pinto beans were flavorful and hearty. The cornbread was superb with a touch of sweetness The sandwich was on a white bun with a generous helping of chicken in between. I added a liberal amount of Stubbs bbq sauce and took a bite. Fantastic! The chicken was smoked to perfection and was incredibly tasty. For dessert, I splurged and got banana pudding! It was delectably creamy and sinful in every way - quite the way to cap a great meal. If you're looking for a primier BBQ joint with a storied history and amazing smoked meats, you've got to head to Austin and try Stubbs!

I'm sure there's better BBQ in Austin but this spot was near our hotel when I was in town for a conference and it hit the spot. Shared the brisket and a whole bunch of sides with a co-worker. The corn bread was a bit dry but everything else was tasty. I was a little confused about the random two pieces of white bread. Maybe it's a Texas thing. I'm not sure. I guess all that matters was that the meat was good and smothered in enough BBQ sauce, anything can taste delicious.

This was a mistake. Walking in, I was met with a dark, awkwardly quiet atmosphere. The pulled pork was very dry with a hair in it, the Cole slaw was sour, and the sodas had a musty/moldy taste. Only part I enjoyed was the creamed corn. Service was just okay.

Well, the sauce did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I needed it for my brisket, because without it, the meat would've been too dry. The portion sizes are decent, but nothing we ate was mind blowing. I ordered the one meat combination platter with brisket, potato salad, and fried okra. My companion ordered the ribs and the sausage. The sausage was pretty good, but I was told overall his meal was just OK. I had ordered a cornbread to split as it did not come with the meal. This cornbread was much drier than what I'm used to. I tried to snap a picture from where we were sitting, but it was a little too dark. There were plenty of tables, and the staff were very attentive. Overall, I wasn't very impressed by the food, but it won't stop me from buying the barbecue sauce.

This was the first BBQ place we went to during our trip to Austin. It's good but not great. We had to drench the meat in sauce and the ribs were hard and dry. The cornbread was also dry. The brisket was good and tender. The vibes inside were more western. Downstairs there is a stage and an open area where they have line dancing some nights. They had live music playing while we ate which was nice to set the mood. Overall it was ok. I would skip it but maybe they have packed nights for music and dancing. There are better options for bbq in Austin.

We went for the Sunday Gospel Brunch. Food was cold. Only 3 meat options which included brisket, chicken and sausage. Brisket cold and dry. Maybe left overs from yesterday. Scramble eggs had peppers and onions in it but very cold. Potatoes with pepper and onions very cold. Bacon was good. Service was terrible considering we came at opening time of 10:30 am. No beverages included. Not worth the money way over priced. Small glass of juice was $4.00.

This is easily the worst BBQ I've had in Austin. I come to Austin for work, and always love trying BBQ spots. A coworker wanted to check this place out, so we went for lunch one day.Our waiter was terrible. Completely uninterested in telling us what his favorite items or sides were. We even switched to asking him what people typically ordered. He shrugged and said it was all good. It wasn't like "its my first day" vibe, it was more like "I hate that you are here" vibe.My coworker and I ended up with brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and jalapeno cheddar sausage to try. We got pinto beans, fries, and coleslaw as well. The brisket was incredibly dry and tough. It was almost inedible. I mentioned it to the waiter, and if we could try any of the sauces they have for sale at the front of the restaurant. He said he'd check to see if they had any, and then we didn't see him again until he dropped off the bill. I thought at least trying some variety of Stubb's sauces would make up for the dry BBQ. After we choked down some of the brisket, we moved onto the pulled pork. Also insanely dry, but with enough sauce it was edible. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was okay, but lacked any real punch of flavor or smoke. The ribs were thankfully not bad, but not good enough to overcome the brisket and pulled pork. It was so disappointing I didn't even want to take the leftovers to-go.I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad day or what, but apparently lunch time on a Monday is not the time to come to Stubb's. I would recommend walking a bit further to Iron Works where I've had a lot better service and BBQ on a weekday lunch.
