Staff will try to overcharge you if they feel you are not paying attention. Dusty food on shelves, and the nastiest bathroom I've seen in a while.

Most certainly! It's a great little neighborhood quickie mart and they are always there when I need them at all times of the day and night. This place is IN.

Not a large selection - it's a small store.Easy to get into at the light of 38th and Speedway. But the owners here, a wonderfully talkative and sweet family, card me every time. And that's why I keep going back, with ID in hand. Don't recommend unless you're of age and buying booze, but when you're post 30, it makes shopping here THE BEST.

It is in my neighborhood. The store is small and the owner seems to know everything you are doing. I try to get some soft drinks by myself couldn't reach them and the owner told me he would get them for me as a matter of fact he was very blunt and insistent.. Another day some customer insisted that I let him help me put some items in my grocery bag. I wanted to do it myself and finally got him to back off. I realize that this is their store and they call the shots. But , I am to the point of not using them and going somewhere else. I am a private person and do not want people breathing down my neck. And most of what I need can probably be bought at HEB or Fresh plus. These small convenient stores are strange.

There are two convenience stores a little bit closer to me, but I always choose Speedway Grocery because of how generous the owner is! The first time I was there he told me to let him know if I ever needed a specific item that he didn't have in the store, and that he would make sure to order it. The second time I came, he remembered me and I told him that his kindness is what brought me back. Good customer service goes a long way!

Online the hours say open at 8am. On the door a paper sign was posted saying we open at 10am. I waited outside for a while but nobody ever came to open the store at 10am. Weird.

Family owned and operated. The owner has been working this store for over two decades. The prices are what you would expect from a corner store, but the selection is solid. 5/5 stars for being open during the historic TX freeze earlier this year (2021). This business provided service when many other stores were closed. Support this local business!

Bought something, rang up for 14.60, then clerk goes to another register and manually ypes in 15.90 and tells me to put my card there. Interesting business model.

This store is within walking distance of where I live, but when I'm out and about in town I still make a point to stop by here. It's family-owned and they're all incredibly sweet and pleasant, they remember everyone that comes in and are great to converse with, and they create a warm and welcoming environment. It's really a mom-and-pop corner store that really makes you feel like you're in a small town. They have a really solid wine and beer selection (I, being a beer nut, appreciate this), a fairly broad array of snacks and sodas, and just the right kind of odds-and-ends to alleviate those "Oh crap, I just ran out of this and need it right now!" situations we all run into.Once, my girlfriend was leaving there alone at night and was approached by a random weirdo. Hadji (the owner) IMMEDIATELY came out of the store and checked on her to make sure she was all right. He stayed out there until the weirdo left. We feel safe there.
