Southside Market & Barbeque - Hutto

Here in Texas, we don't just eat BBQ. We respect it. Low and slow, smoky and bold, just like it should be! You guys know that we are OBSESSED with the pork steak. My mom wanted it so we came in last night to get it. When I got to the counter, they said they only had a little bit in the back. Thank goodness as I was going to be sad. We ordered the Friday special of pork belly. We definitely had to get the chopped brisket sandwich, cole slaw and potato salad.Service is friendly and quick! Definitely treated us like family. When we got home to our goodies, the BBQ was as good as I remember. I tried it all! The pork belly was FIRE. Pork steak was mouthwatering and kids approved. My mom felt the pork steak wasn't as tender today, but it served the great bold flavors we are used to. She was a fan of the pork belly though. So tender and had a wonderful smoky flavor. The chopped brisket was finger-licking good.Overall a great experience and good food. I can always rely on Southside Market to be consistently drool-worthy.

Well, I went to see Southside market and barbecue in Hutto Texas. This is a new location for them. It's been here for about a year, but this is the first time I've been there.When you walk in, you see the traditional meat counter to your left with the great bluebell ice cream. They also had a coffee flavored bluebell, which is my favorite. The restaurant was very clean. It wasn't too busy. The menu boards are quite large. I forgot to take pictures. I apologize .. The price was very reasonable. I had the barbecue baked potato. My friends had the two meat barbecue plate which was very generous with the meat and the sides, and it was very reasonably priced. My barbecue brisket baked potato was full of chopped brisket. That was very tasty. The potato was cooked perfectly with cheese and sour cream. I ate the whole thing. It was great.My friend said that they loved the barbecue that it was very tasty and sausage was good and so was the pork ribs. I am definitely gonna have to go back to the southside market and barbecue to try the two meat plate and the sides. Oh yes, they did have some sweet tea and regular tea. Of course all the drinks were self service and the tea was excellent made fresh. The weight staff was friendly. They were very knowledgeable about the product and could answer any of your questions once again. The interior of the restaurant was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean. I was very impressed with the entire establishment. This is a great addition to the restaurant in Hutto and I look forward to many visits at the Southside Market and barbecue

Was in town for work wanted some BBQ for lunch and saw this place looked good so I stopped by. First off the place is pretty nice and clean. I ordered the Southside plater and a drink. Sausage, brisket, potato salad, and coleslaw. It was a little pricey about 17 dollars. I wasn't very impressed.The sausage did not have any crunch when I bit into it. It was almost mushy. The brisket was only 2 pieces and was kinda dry but came apart easily. I dont kniw if it was a good thing that it was only 2 pieces. The potatoe salad was ok but had a taste I just could put my finger on. It wasn't bad but it wasn't something I would get again. I really liked the coleslaw but wish it was colder it was room temp cool.Brisket 3 outa 10Sausage 2 outa 10 the mushyness threw me offPotatoe salad 3 outa 10Coleslaw 5 outa 10 would have been higher if it was colderAll in all I wouldn't go back very disappointing

Got the brisket plate and two sides the food was delicious, some things like the coleslaw was a bit spicy. The line was fast moving and the environment was set up in Christmas at the time but it was a welcoming feel. I got the brisket and was not disappointed the meat was the perfect smoked taste and the option to add your own sauce made it helpful for those who don't want to be over taken by sauce instead of the smoke flavor

Loved their sausage forever. I have always went to their place in Elgin when visiting relatives in Austin. Heard that they had an outlet in Hutto off 130 tollway. It's on the way for us going back to Mansfield. A little difficult to get to the first time, but not really a problem once you find it. It has a drive thru, so very convenient when on the road. Great Elgin Hot Sausage, be sure to get their homemade hot sauce. If you haven't had Elgin hot sausage you are in for a treat. Great central Texas bbq. So glad we found it, will be back again and again!

I've had a couple different bbq experiences in Texas as I am a visitor. There were good things I liked like the jalapeño sausage, but the ribs were not my fav. The brisket was a 6/10 as well. For the price I'll probably be revisiting some of the spots I had good experiences in. It's not bad, it's just not great! The service was good and the location really clean and spacious with meats and other cool products to purchase on your way out. It was interesting but just ok...

Service is pretty quick, love that they have a drive thru. Bbq is good, especially for the price. Lots of seating inside

Now that they've been open for longer, the place is doing well. Food is great, fast and friendly staff and plenty of parking.

Welcoming and friendly economical suggestions to maximize my budget. Would definitely go again and again.

We tried Southside Market in Hutto, hoping it would be better than Elgin. Found the food portions to be small, Baked potato served was cold. a 2 meat plate is listed @$15.50, but there is a $2.00 extra charge for Moist Brisket. The ribs were bland with no crust. Building is large and cold inside. Since the food is served on parchment paper on metal trays, food gets cold quickly. The side salad without cheese was the best item on the dinner.Tried the Southside Sausage that they claim is the best. Find that Meyer's sausage is tastier than Southside. Thought the amount of food and quality was over priced. Rudy's BBQ on I 35 and Kreuz BBQ in Lockhart are much better tasting BBQ. Southside advertises as the best in Texas, but I rank it near the bottom for taste and qualtiy.
