SLAB BBQ & Beer

Had a great time at this Elite Event. All around very well organized and lots of food offerings here, probably the most I have experienced since I can remember. I think my favorite of the offerings were the Nachos Platter with the pulled pork. I am typically not a fan of this dish in general as I find most pulled pork can be dry or overpowering, but SLAB did a great job execution-wise. The pulled pork was flavorful and moist. The queso was an awesome compliment to the dish, and the onions and jalapenos were perfect toppings. I could literally eat a whole plate of these. The flavors were great and this dish tasted as good as it looked. I highly recommend this dish. Next I liked the ribs, came in a close 2nd. They were fall off the bone, very tender, some slightly overcooked but still had good flavor. They do a ribs special during the week, I believe half off on Thursdays, and I will definitely be heading back to take advantage of that. Their new take on the Bahn Mi was respectable. I thought the flavor of the meat was really good. I'd recommend dialing it up a notch with good crunchy marinated carrot / cukes and some cilantro, but the meat had good flavor - just had a little too much fat in it but otherwise it's good. I was really impressed with SLAB's banana pudding! Loved the cookies they made - Notorious BIG is who I got, but the pudding tasted fresh and not too sweet. Chick NWA was really solid too, house made coleslaw was good. Hot bbq sauce was a good compliment. The food was superb and in abundance, but the company was great - especially to meet some other Yelpers as we all got along great and gave each other great suggestions and talked about coming back to SLAB - especially to take advantage of their ribs special. It was an excellent Yelp Elite Event with really good food and great company, and an awesome lunchbox as a party gift. Thanks so much!

Enjoyed a yelp tasting event to explore the menu with beer pairings. Because of this experience I have a new spot to take guests that want good but accessible bbq when they visit. It was a great experience and everyone was so helpful. They had a wide range of beers for everyone with a cool technology that fills the glass from the bottomNachos - sooo good, honestly can't wait to have againRib - had this strawberry habanero glaze that wasn't spicy and the meat fell off the bone.... Sooooo goodEl Jefe - my favorite! The simple Fritos for crunch really sold me. Such fresh ingredients used tooStreet corn - a bit mayo-ySmoked Mac - intensely smoky and noodles were super soft, maybe overcooked Mini bahn b - my least fav just because it was overly smothered in sauce Nana pudding - I'm typically particular about my banana pudding but this was a good restaurant version, loved the shortbread cookie addition

I first came here for an event a week or so ago, and after trying the ribs, I had to come back for more. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Perfectly smoked, fall off the bone tender, and packed with flavor, these ribs are on another level. The strawberry barbecue glaze adds just the right amount of sweetness and tang, taking them to a whole new level of deliciousness.I went around 6 PM on a Thursday, and it wasn't too crowded. We actually got our food while we were still making our drinks, which was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant itself has so much character, and I love that they set the mood with old school hip hop and R&B. It makes the dining experience even better.And here's the best part. On Thursdays after 4 PM, the ribs are half priced. That's an unbeatable deal for food this good. If you're a rib lover, this is the place to be. I'll definitely be back again soon!

I love Slab, but today wasn't a good day. My husband and I both ordered the Donk with chips and queso and potato salad for the table, and the kiddos both had Daddy Macs off of the kids menu. No complaints on the Donk or the potato salad, but the Daddy Macs were terrible-- overcooked, mushy noodles with clumpy, grainy cheese. The kids didn't eat it. The queso was good, but the chips were all small and crushed the first and second time we ordered them. Service was good today though. We'll be back with the expectation of a better experience.

Pro Tip: Get to know Chef Marco, he has a dope story . Slow, low, and Banging (SLAB), featured in Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins, has a different touch, for sure. Everything on the menu was some kind of story - whether it's a childhood favorite made into a slider or Nana's Mac. Especially cool about this place is the attention to Hip-Hop. You'll find 90s hip hop cameos on the graffiti-art walls and even in the banana pudding. No joke, you can have a Biggie, Tupac or Eazy-E shaped cookie. Like I said, dope!Smoked Gouda Mac favored over the Creamed corn. Glazed Ribs with a Strawberry Habanero Glaze, a little dry, but enjoyably lean (mostly all meat). Don't miss out on the loaded chips, though. And they're a huge portion! Pairs well with the Zilker Parks & Rec pale ale.

Slow Low & Bangin' is the mantra of their BBQ and I can attest that it is definitely the case here for SLAB BBQ. Funny enough I always find myself having their food to go or takeout which isn't a bad idea because I can enjoy my very happy food coma soon after a delicious meal. Their smoked mac n' cheese is so good and I love their nana's pudding. I have their ribs and the chipotle raspberry glaze is my personal fave. The Notorious P.I.G. is a classic to their menu and I have really come to love it. Now it might catch some folks off but they make a mean bbq nacho platter. Each chip is seriously drenched in queso and they don't skip on the toppings.

SLAB has good smoked bbq. You can add one of their 4 sauces as you like. Brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken are tender with a smoked flavor. The triple slider is your best bet for your first time here. They do sell meat by the pound as well. Order, pay and they will bring to your table. Self service drinks. TV sports bar playing mostly rap music atmosphere. It's not quite seasoned as we normally like, relying on the smoke flavor. Just another stylize of BBQ. But SLAB bbq is good no doubt. If you are like us and like to try out all bbq places SLAB is definitely worth a try.

I've been to Slab BBQ once many years ago, and I recently had the opportunity to come back again. I love the inspiration Slab BBQ has -- not only with the decor from hip-hop but also with the food itself. My favorites are the strawberry glazed ribs, bbq nachos, and the banh mi (I don't think this is on the official menu). The meat is so good and tender, and the staff is so friendly.

Food came out very fast. Loved the decor inside. Unique fountain drinks. The food was good. Wouldn't say great or best bbq ever but definitely enjoyable. The McDowell sandwich was quite delicious. Nachos were solid. I certainly would not mind coming back here for their sandwiches.
