I visited this restaurant for a birthday lunch on Friday. I had heard rumors that Gordon Ramsay had dined/helped here, and wanted to see if he had any lasting impact. The inside of the diner is a mixture of tables and booths with a lot of upscale decor featuring neon. There's also a large patio area, weather permitting.I'll have to admit I was in a mood to eat, but nothing on the menu looked appealing at 2:00 in the afternoo-- and I hadn't even had breakfast that day. I felt like there were no middle ground entrees that were healthy or at very least less unhealthy.Eventually we each had a baked potato with butter and cheese and shared sides of macaroni and fried okra. The baked potato was small for the price and just had butter and cheese. There was a loaded baked potato on the menu that cost more but we decided against it. The mac and cheese was good but institutional grade. The fried okra was tasty but on the edge of lukewarm by the time it made it to our table.Service was somewhat erratic, very pesky at first to take the order and then poorly followed up there after. It gave us the feeling that we needed to hurry up and get out. They do serve breakfast all day so maybe that would have been a better bet. But there are other restaurants in in near Sun City that are better than this one. I doubt I'll be back, though. Neither recommended nor discouraged.

Cute cafe with breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a veggie omelette with grits, good flavor and the salsa was very tasty. Ambiance was calming and volume inside is relatively quiet. Great relaxing way to start the day. Attentive service as well

First visit. Neighbors recommended. Not very crowded at noon. Ordered Chicken Fried Chicken and Lasagna special. Requested a side salad instead of the regular side dishes with the Chicken Fried Chicken. Salad was served ahead of the main entree which was fine. Nice selection of veggies and good ranch dressing. Server didn't indicate there would be an additional charge for a "side salad" but it was on the bill. Entrees were disappointing. Lasagna was so dried out that the top layers were curled up. Obviously had been cooked and reheated when served. The Chicken fried chicken was ok. Lots of gravy on it. Should have ordered gravy on the side. The biscuit was like a hockey puck on the outside. Had to ask the server Desirae for butter since there was none on the table nor in the plate. Service was ok from Desirae.

Wish I could rank it higher, but the food would have to be better. The prices weren't unreasonable, but the food quality didn't quite live up to the prices, in my opinion. Service wasn't excellent, either. For all those staff in such a small footprint, I wouldn't expect to go a whole meal without a drink refill, but I did.

The food is ok. But I have shown up 3 times now when they were supposed to be open only to have a sign out front saying they were closed until lunch. Just pathetic management. Won't be back again.

They said they would substitute fruit for the bread. They then said they had no fruit!! Everyone that came in after us got fruit!! I'm celiac and past management always substituted for us. Really upsetting to be lied to. We won't go back and neither will our gluten free club!!

Today, a friend and I stopped in at Simmers Down to try the Sunday buffet around 10:15 am. I loved the new decor ...shabby chicAll I can say the food was AWESOME especially for the price of $7.99! We were seated shortly after we entered the restaurant and our drinks ordered ...then we had many choices of food ... My choice of fried potatoes ,smokies,French toast, fresh fruit salad and omelette ordered as you leave the buffet line....everything delicious. Of course, I had to try the coconut cream pie from the assortment of desserts...awesome! Also, my friend enjoyed her food and loved the moist cookies! One criticism I have you new hostess needed to know information about the buffet whether drinks are included and the time that the price changed (easy fix post a copy at the hostess station and on your website). 9a.m-10:30a.m. $7.99 Then $9.99 to 2pm....now that I raved about Simmer Down I suppose it be packed next time I come on Sunday!

We went to Simmer Down Friday evening for dinner. We were there the previous week and were pretty satisfied with all of the improvements. Friday evening was just as good - or maybe even better. The service has moved to the "GREAT" level. Hunter was our server and he did a great job. I believe that with Hunter and Corbin serving, we could not ask for more. The menu has slowly started to add some of our favorites back. I greatly appreciate it!While the service and food are where I believe they should be, I do have a "problem" with the way that we were charged. There was an UNADVERTISED 3% Credit Card Fee added to the bill. We had not experienced this before, were not "warned" of it by the servers or the menu or even a sign on the door. While I understand that credit card processing does cost - you either need to warn customers (I for one won't come again knowing that it will cost me more that the advertised prices), or add the 3% into the price of the items. Most people do not carry cash anymore. We use our debit or credit card and pay it off. None of the other restaurants we go to have this UPCHARGE. I suspect that they have included it in the price of the food. Please consider adding your UPCHARGE to the foos as I don't intend on carrying cash just to come to your establishment.
