Short Stop

I use to go to short stop all the time when there was open in Beaumont, TX. So I decided to travel to Austin to try the Short Stop there to see if it was as good as I remember or does it even taste the same? Hell ya it does!! I'm so glad, I was not disappointed. Well maybe a little since they don't have Chicken Rings. Maybe that was a Beaumont thing..lol

Classic burger stop right off east 7th street. It's right before the light to webberville so it's easy to get in and out of here. There are two drive thrus out front and couple of picnic tables out front. There's a walk up window as well to order from. They are also open until 11pm weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturdays so if you have a late night craving and want a 1/4lb burger this is your stop. I like their fries - if they are fresh they are like McDonald's but it's kind of a toss up if you will get them hot or cool and flimsy but that can easily be fixed with an air fryer. P Terrys is opening down the street so it'll be interesting with drive thru competition but the style of burger is so different.

These burgers do not miss!! An original that has been true to its roots and a staple in Austin. My top 5 easy best burger. I don't know what they put in it but it keeps you coming back for more and don't sleep in the fish burger either. I Gayronteee (purposed spelling) the satisfaction you will have eating this delectable treat. And don't get me started in the drinks... southern sweet tea, soft serve and cherry limeades are an experience pin and of themselves. As we say here in Texas... "you just gotta come and getcha sum!"

We found this place because we couldn't find parking at any local restaurants. I'm glad we drove thru. I had a mustard dog & my husband had the burger combo with a Coke. Food is pretty good & the service is friendly.

I have to start by saying this a true GEM of Austin and I don't think it gets the notoriety it deserves. I remember walking to this place when I was growing up and the thing I 100% give them credit for is that they are the same quality of food today as they were back then. When you look at a lot of fast food burger joints that were around back when I used to eat here - Jack in the Box, Wendy's - what they serve today is VASTLY different than what they used to serve back then and a lot of that has to do with cost and speed. Short Stop has managed to keep both of these in check while still delivering a great product and I respect that! Burgers here are phenomenal and the crazy part is you can't compare them to anything because they have their own unique taste. Its certainly better than anything you can get fast-food-wise like Wendy's or Jack in the Box. I've only had P. Terry's once and I'd say this is even better than that. It tastes grilled but not with the overly charcoal taste of say Burger King and all of the lettuce, tomatoes and toppings just taste very fresh. Usually I don't like tomatoes on my burger or onions because people just overdue them and it derails the taste. They have gotten that formula down where when you take a bite it's the perfect blend of everything doing it's part to create a full, unique taste palette. And this one of the only places where I can get a burger and there won't be anything left. Fries are usually also on point. I've always heard good things about the fish but I'm never in town on Friday's when they serve it. But if it's anything like the burgers I believe the hype (and that's rare from me!). The only reason for the -1 is I did see that 77 health score rating which is concerning, especially when they're usually up there in the 90's. Please don't tarnish this gem. I'm thankful every time I come to Austin and this location is still standing and still open for business and I make a point to stop by and do my part to keep it that way, but that also relies on you doing your part as well.

This has quickly become my go-to fast food on the east side. The food is delicious. Burgers and fries are ALWAYS fresh and tasty, and their fountain sodas are always crisp. They are served with a smile and so quick!

This is one of the premier burger joints in Austin tx. I've always love coming to this location. I am always guaranteed fresh burgers, fried and a nice lemonade on the side. Going to any short stop you can't go wrong. Always hit and always hits the spot. I highly recommend.

The #1 with cheese and bacon hits different. You throw a lil bit of fries inside the burger. Then order the Cherry-limeade and ooooffff it will definitely hit the spot. Amazing first visit

Food is good because it's fresh but the lady that was making my food blew her breath into the bag that they put the hotdogs in well I don't wanna eat that and I'm not sure if I wanna eat there anymore. If I do, I will go far away to find a shortstop and I just feel like that was real remedial for what she done.

First time in today. Great "old school" style drive thru burger joint. Bacon cheeseburger meal was great. Hot and fresh. Reasonably priced. Service was great. Nice, friendly staff, unlike 98% of drive thru joints. My next stop Ill be trying the chili cheese dog. Treating your customers nice, and providing a quality, fresh meal will get me back as a repeat customer.
