This place was popping at lunch and many people have told me this is the best Indian food in Austin. Pretty spacious and clean, free soup at lunch too!Dosas for everyone - almost everyone at lunch was having one. Unfortunately my stomach doesn't really tolerate legumes well, so had to skip on that but it sure looked good. I opted for classic butter chicken instead with a garlic naan and both were great. Could have used a bit more spice for my liking as it was very mild, but still good and creamy.

Had four items to go. Just listing em off:- Medium Spice Chicken Tikka -- B- (Decent)- Kurma -- F (We think this dish was made incorrectly / unfinished / way too gritty / rough spices / overcooked lamb)- Naan -- B- (Meh naan)- Veggie Samosa -- A- (Good)Overall mostly just an ok experience, but that Kurma was particularly bad.

We arrived 15 minutes after they opened in a Sunday and we're 7th on the waiting list. This had to be the busiest Indian restaurant I have ever been too. We got seated about 20 minutes later and the server explained all the specials. I opted for the Sangnam Special Grand Mesl because it's only available on weekends and it comes with everything. There were more dishes I couldn't get in the picture and some more under the dishes on the main platter. Everything was so tasty. Just a great mix of flavors, crabmeat, chicken, lentils, okra, and more. There was so much to try and new flavors to experience. Definitely worth the short wait.

Decided to try their thatte idli and crispy corn. One of the best in town. Paneer chettinad was disappointing. Staff is super polite and service is great. Overall a decent experience. Will visit again to try some of their other items.

Met a friend for lunch here yesterday for another birthday meal (birthday month for the win!). Second time I've been and it was still delicious. I tried different items this time and everything tasted fresh. There are so many options it's hard to choose just one thing, so I ordered the lunch thali that had a sample of many items. My friend ordered the dosa and idly. The service is great as they are very attentive. We got there before the lunch crowd so got a table quickly. I look forward to going yet again and trying more dishes!

Today a friend of mine and I decided to have a late lunch at Sangam Chettinad Restaurant on West Parmer Lane. Note to self, always check the hours of restaurants. We arrived 15 minutes before 3 pm and they closed at 3 pm. We could not have a seated meal but were allowed to order "to go" from the menu. The restaurant offered an assortment of both vegetarian (veg) and non-vegetarian South Indian dishes. The restaurant was surprisingly large and packed from wall to wall with people and some waiting in the entry way. The décor was familiar as I used to go to India twice a quarter when I worked in tech - colorful, warm & inviting. The restaurant seemed suited for family or company gatherings to intimate two person meals. My friend chose chicken masala, garlic naan and mango lassi. She absolutely loved the mango lassi and thought the naan was well seasoned. Her chicken marsala was a little on the spicey side. Conversely, I chose a vegetarian meal - Aloo Mutter Masala (Potato Green Peas). I loved the combination of flavors and textures. I must say although I asked for the mild version of this dish it was a bit on the spicy side. The white rice was perfectly cooked...every grain was separate and distinct with a smooth taste. In fact, it was reminiscent of my days in India specifically Mysore where they are known for spicy dishes. My taste buds were shocked initially and then the flavors stabilized in my mouth after a few bites. Even though they were at the cut off point for serving the lunch crowd, a person from the kitchen answered a very specific question regarding the oils that were used to cook the food. This extra effort was appreciated.Having traveled pretty extensively in South India, Sangam Chettinad is rather authentic to that region of the country. I will have to return to Sangam when I end my 21 days veg fast to try other menu items.

I visited Sangam Indian Restaurant on a Sunday, and while there was a long line, the wait time wasn't too bad. Once inside, we were impressed by the fact that breakfast is served all day. The breakfast items were fantastic--fresh, authentic, and bursting with rich flavors. However, we were disappointed with the other dishes we ordered. They didn't live up to expectations and lacked the same quality and flavor as the breakfast items. On the bright side, the service was attentive and friendly, which we appreciated. Overall, it's a great spot for breakfast, but I'd recommend caution when exploring other menu options

Clean environment, friendly staff. The food was great, full of flavor, despite being a cold chilly day food was served warm. I got the tika masala with paneer, butter naan, samosas, lamb biriyani, masala tea and sweet laasi. Everything was delicious. I am picky with samosas, the pastry was flaky with just the right crunch factor on the corners, filling was perfectly seasoned. I would have appreciated if you could customized the heat level on the biryani the half chili pepper emoji on the menu is pretty hot! And I have a high heat tolerance. Nonetheless everything was delicious and I will be back to try more items on the menu. Oh also, there are two doors to enter the building since it was a chilly day I recommend closing the second door as it was left open and the cold draft kept swooping in every time someone opened the main entrance which seemed to affect just the side of the restaurant we were seated at.

The meal was incredibly disappointing today. The potatoes in the aloo gobi were undercooked, the chicken in the fried rice was overcooked, and the garlic naan was shockingly small and thin--half the size of what it should be. I've never seen garlic naan like that before. Also I ordered a shake and did not receive it. What a waste of money.
