It must be fate because after almost a decade we keep coming back and can't ever get enough of Salt Trader's consistently edgy fresh food immaculately prepared with superb service and always a good vibe.I guess it's meant to be, forever and me, after all.(apologies to Cher and Peter Cetera)Tonight was a great night with with the best food and service by Tiffany that included Smoked Fish Dip, $1 Wild Gulf Oysters, Ceviche Tostadas, Clam Chowda, Creamy Crab Soup, and Poblano Shrimp Enchiladas along with masterfully crafted drinks! The Kitchen Line and Oyster Shuckers, led by their Executive Chef, was incredible and amazing to watch as they worked together seamlessly like a well-greased machine putting out table after table of piled high seafood and accompaniments plus all the other rockstar menu offerings. You literally could eat at Salt Trader's every day and remained enthusiastic about the available menu variety and specials that'll keep you coming back for more!

Had the best experience here visiting with my mom. We went on a Saturday evening and were able to snag a seat at their open table seating in the bar area. Great if you're into meeting new people or dining alone and open to making new friends. We ordered the strawberry basil lemonade and the kickin pineapple nojito. It was cute and tasty without the headache! I absolutely love the smoked fish dip, so we ordered an appetizer of that. I love that they give you a sample when you sit down or goldfish for the kiddos. For dinner, we had the wood fired grill salmon and the birria fish tacos. Both were amazing. The birria tacos, I was only able to finish about half so I was able to take the rest to go. One of my favorite restaurants, can't wait to head back.

Good seafood restaurant that isn't crazy expensive. I've had the pot stickers, scallops, fish tacos, ceviche, fried oysters and smoked fish dip. All those items were seasoned well. I would say, out of the apps, the smoked salmon fish dip is the best item -- they do bring you a small bite of it to start. While most of the items are good, the seafood gumbo is NOT good. I'm from SETX (basically Louisiana) and we know our gumbo. This gumbo here ain't it. I think they put chili powder in their gumbo or something - the seasoning is off. When I ordered it the first time, I was like "this is terrible." So, on my second visit, I asked for a sample again to see if it was just off that one day -- no, it's the same recipe. SKIP the gumbo, but everything else is good.

Y'all! I really do love me some salt traders! Not only is the location convenient to georgetown, you can typically get seated pretty quickly with or without a resy. But it is definitely better to be safe with a resy! There is always a special menu, chalkboard specials, oyster deals, weekend happy hours, lunch specials and I believe most days you can get the snapper collar. Trust me, get the snapper collar!!!! I don't know about y'all, but I love me some Salt Traders!

A group of 8 of us met for dinner here on a Friday night. While the online reservation system only allows you to book for up to 6, I added a note which mentioned I needed a table for 8. When I called a few hours before our reservation, they confirmed they'd seen my note. We did have to wait about 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated, but I wasn't that surprised since they were pretty busy. As a fan of Jack, Allen's, I wasn't surprised that I ended up being a fan of Salt Trader's as well. The host and server staff were very friendly. Our server checked in with the table, keeping the water glasses filled. I was only able to get a couple of pics, but all the food came out looking good and piping hot. That said, there was a snafu in the kitchen which led to a few plates coming out later than the others. For that error we got a free dessert. Everyone said their food was well cooked and tasty. The shrimp and grits were very flavorful. The shrimp was well seasoned and not over cooked. The grits were rich & savory which the nice bursts of sweet corn and acid from the tomatoes cut through. My cousin's salmon was flaky and moist. She said you could taste a bit of the smoke from the grill which went nicely with the asparagus. All the portions were large enough to satisfy even the hearty eaters at our table. We ordered the key lime tart and brownie desserts. One was complimentary due to the kitchen issue. We passed them around so everyone got some. We liked the both but the brownie was the favorite.

Amazing food! We had to wait 45 minutes but we got to stay at the bar and grab some drinks first. Well worth the wait. The food and service was worth it.

Consistently great food and service. The cocktails are fun and they have a good selection wine selection. The market fish of the day is always a winner.

I was reminded today to never underestimate a restaurant based on their location! ST is such a gem! If you're in the Austin area or visiting Round Rock, TX, this place is a must try! My sister and I were initially a little thrown off in the beginning because the host sat us all the way in the back room where there was no one else sitting and we felt a little excluded from the restaurant, but when we requested to move towards a two top by the window it was the best decision we ever made. Can't remember our servers name but he was great, gave us recommendations, and while we intended to partake in their HH, we ended up just ordering from their menu and "dailies" options instead! Ordered the grapefruit Rita and a sparkling rose! Both refreshing and delicious and they did not hold back on the alcohol :) we also ordered: * *crab fingers (hot) ~ amazing, favorite dish of the night * cup of Gumbo soup ~ just ok* cup of clam chowda ~ really delicious, a little chunky * hush puppies * fish and chips ~ pretty good, but not a fan of the French fries...a bit soggy and not crispy * key lime pie ~ too much meringue and the key lime texture was cheesecake-like...This restaurant really cares for their customers through personal touches and attention to detail. I appreciate that they offer a complimentary taste of their smoked fish dip to try for your first time and at the end of the meal, they provide you with warm wet naps to clean your hands with after your meal. Love the extra touches that this restaurant offers. Wish I lived in Austin so I could try more stuff on their menu! Minus the weird seating decision, this place was amazing!

This place has become a regular in our rotation - healthier than BBQ, burgers or pizza, and consistently good seafood with a core menu and nightly options. Easy to get in and out, a great spot for lunch or dinner... or just beer and oysters.
