Get your bodega needs here at this neighbrhood store. There is no gas station but it has all the convenience items. there is plenty of parking and a couple of nextdoor venues, including a cafe and a sub place. The service is always good.

I have been to this establishment several time yet every time he checks my id and asks my age as if he's never seen a Florida id. The two main problems with this place is 1: no busch and 2: not a good 4 loko selection. I was just there today tho to get a puff plus for my friend who had injured his leg falling down the stairs and the worker was very polite. Update: they were out of natty so I got some four lokos and the guy checked my ID as always and tried to tried me into saying the wrong year.

So, because central Austin, beer selection is good. Prices are jacked up, but not too terribly. In all other regards, it appears to be a standard c-store.Guy who owns the place is insane and exceptionally rude. I get the same 20 questions as everyone else when I try to buy beer there, and was turned away once because my wife didn't have her ID with her. We are 42 and 32, respectively. I know that cops can be dicks, and I'm sure that he's been stung by selling to underagers and being cited, but--c'mon man. I've got a drinking age to spare. In any case, since my friend who lived near there moved away, I'm unlikely to ever stop back. I get that this might not be your dream job, Red River Market Guy, but you can at least try to pretend. As a final purchase, maybe I'll stop in sometime to buy you a Sunday paper.

Will not return. It's a shame, this place is only a 5 minute walk from the apartment I just moved in, so I decided to go there to buy some bottles of wine. At first I was excited because I saw the market was larger than expected and picked out four bottles of wine for my four bottle wine rack. Standing in line, the woman in front of me was taking her time. That's fine and I saw an opening on the counter, and seeing that I'm holding four bottles of wine, I started putting them on the counter opening. The man behind the counter (looked Indian) then accused me of being drunk, asked how much I was drinking, and continued to ask and make comments about me being drunk. I was completely sober and had been in the store for about 3 minutes. The way he talked to me was so rude and unprofessional, and continued throughout my service when being rung up. His tone was rude and pointed as he asked questions about my ID (asking for my birthday twice, both with harshness in his voice). I can understand when working next to a college to be suspicious of IDs, but to be ugly during the process is unnecessary, and for what it's worth, I was wearing a UT law shirt. I was looking forward to the convenience of the Red River Market, but now have no intention of returning.

Selling expired milk, soda, among other goods is unacceptable. This isn't a one time thing either.. It has been multiple occasions now.

The owners aren't "hard-nosed" as the other reviewer states. They are very friendly. This isn't a store to be compared to HEB. If you're looking for groceries then go to HEB. They have a great beer and wine selection, it's a little pricey, but if it's within walking distance what do you expect? It's a convenience store, with convenience store prices. The people that work there are great, especially when you've known them for years (once I had to go to the bank to cash a check and they loaned me cab fare to get to my bank). This is a cool place. Good beer. Good wine, It's everything you expect from a corner market. The only thing I have a problem with is the shady tow truck driver who hangs around. That scumbag will try to tow you if you blink your eye. Not the store's fault though. WATCH OUT FOR THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER!!!! He works for Pronto.

All items for sale are pretty standard for a c-store; there is a pretty decent selection of cheap wine, and they carry more types of beer than you might expect. What other reviewers are saying about the owner/employees is both true and...not true.I used to live in the neighborhood, and it took about one full year of visiting Red River Market before I wasn't asked twenty questions before being allowed to purchase alcohol. All of a sudden, one sunny day, the owner recognized me, stopped asking twenty questions about my age, date of birth, year of birth, favorite color, soup choice, number, etc., and began asking about my day, my occupation, my mood, my family, etc. I learned so much about him - he is a really hard-working guy, and almost always was the person manning the register when I visited. He has a hard job, works endless hours, and has a great sense of humor. Watching him stare down, grill, and grudgingly allow campus kids to buy alcohol (or not), was a treat. I miss this place.Bottom line - decent place to stop for some cheap wine/etc. Be prepared to answer more questions than you're used to in order to prove that you're of age, and be nice. It's up to you to make sure the owner (and sometimes one other guy I didn't see very often) doesn't have a thankless job. Cheers!
