I just came from a work dinner at red ash and ohhhhhMG I was stunned!! The food is fantastic - I had heard this, but now that I've had a chance to try it myself, it's absolutely true. It is a little on the pricier side in general but the quality of the food is really excellent, eg they have their bread flown in from New York and baked daily, and all the pasta is made by hand in-house daily. You can taste the quality, it is proper butter- and flavor-filled pasta. We ordered and shared several things including the snapper crudo (small but very flavorful!), the country Italian bread, and the wood roasted tomatoes and burrata. The pieces of bread were QUITE large actually, I had 1.5 pieces and I was actually already close to full just with my drinks and the other samples of the appetizers. As for drinks - I got the Rosa Maria (very citrus and rosemary flavored) and the Aviation which was an off menu drink the waitress recommended when I told her I like floral drinks (it is periwinkle colored and the base flavor is violet, with gin). The aviation was my favorite of the two but both were super floral and YUMMY. As for food: I got the Frutti Di Mare which is basically fancy spaghetti with a variety of seafood. The waitress said it was a more popular dish and I LOVED. It was SO flavorful! My coworkers also got the halibut risotto (which he told me was delicious and light), and the Tagliolini with fresh blue crab which was DELICIOUS (so creamy and flavorful, just the right amount of salt and butter), and the wood roasted bone marrow risotto (very smooth and fatty, but delicious!). Everyone was very happy with their food. For dessert we each ordered a scoop of gelato (I got their blackberry crumble one), as well as a slice of olive oil cake and the chocolate lava cake (both were decadent, but the chocolate cake was my fav of the two). Now aside from food, the service was fabulous! All the waiters and waitresses were attentive, friendly, and gave excellent recs - plus a FULL run down of the menu with specials right at the beginning of dinner, so helpful! The ambiance is nice, it's definitely upscale. Great for a date night, but with a bit of an industrial vibe? Still low light though, and intimate. The bathrooms are immaculate, unisex with sinks inside a couple stalls, as well as outside stall sinks. Parking - that's a bit tough, you'd have to go with street parking, but it's in a central location so you can easily walk from other parts of downtown or even over the bridge.Overall: 10/10, would absolutely eat at red ash again. In fact I had been trying to get a table for months until this work dinner, and they were always booked out so I felt really lucky! I hope to go back soon even if just for drinks and bread, it's really that good.

We really were looking forward to dining here for my husband's birthday and given all the hype around this place we left unimpressed. They don't have valet in front of the restaurant which we were not aware of but it wasn't a huge deal. We had a drink at a restaurant across the street and waited for our reservation. I received a text saying our table was ready 15 min before the reservation. We walk over and our table wasn't ready and we were asked to wait in a dark corner. Why text me that our table is ready when it's clearly not? There is no waiting area so you feel awkward just standing there. There's no where to grab a drink either. The bathrooms are uni-sex and located near the kitchen. They were clean which I was relieved. But a bathroom near the kitchen is off putting. We were seated upstairs and the dining area and ambience was cute but we had the air conditioner blowing directly in our face and it's 40 degrees out side.Old Fashioned was solid and so was my wine. For appetizers we had the meatballs and garlic bread. Both were just okay! We heard about this garlic bread for months and it was so oily and hard. Meatballs didn't have any flavor and were covered in polenta and not enough marinara. Entree was the wood grilled 10oz filet. It definitely has a different taste to it with the oak and spices- overall it was decent. We had the Tagliolini with Fresh Blue Crab. The crab was amazing but the dish itself was over powered by red chili flakes. That's all you could taste. We couldn't enjoy the pasta which probably would have been great without it being spicy. The Halibut was delicious but paired with a risotto with zero flavor and random corn in it. Every single bite was corn. It's a random combination of flavors with no flavor if that makes any sense! Surely dessert won't disappoint- they were out of the Tiramisu! What made this so awkward is that our waiter didn't go over any of the desserts and I had to awkwardly say it's my husband's birthday. The waiter acted like he was unaware we were there to celebrate a birthday. We ended up getting a Carmel gelato/ sorbet that was missing the pizzelle. The Carmel was too sweet it was like eating a candy bar. A random candle was stuck on the plate. There was nothing special about this. The server was nice but we never felt like this was exceptional service. Never went over the menu, never engaged in any conversation. I could have been at any old restaurant at this point. For the price point and this being so hard to get into we expected more and left feeling underwhelmed.

3.5 stars. I came here for my birthday dinner since I was able to snag a reservation! Off the bat the ambience is dark and romantic. Very small interior with a lot of tables making it feel cramped. Our table was not ready even though I had a reservation and we had to wait 15 minutes for it in the front corner with other individuals making it very cramped and tight. When we sat down however the service was amazing. He guided us through the wine menu and gave us recommendations for food. I ended up getting the snapper crudo and the agnolotti alla piemontese. Both were really delicious and flavorful and I appreciated ending the meal with a complimentary tiramisu. I thought the food was good and not too pricey but I'm not sure if it's worth the long wait for a reservation.

Honestly, the only word I need to write in this review is "go". As with most, I had only heard good things about Red Ash and I was so excited to try it. There were (of course) no reservations so we decided to take our chances walking in. We got there at 5:00 on the dot and were able to snag a seat at the bar. I was told that I had to get the bread (garlic / grana / olive oil salmoriglio) and rightfully so-we had to grab seconds when our pasta came. For pasta, I went with the gnocchi (fresh cream / gorgonzola montagna / smoked prosciutto / chives) and it was stellar. I like that they offer different sizes of their pastas. Getting the smaller version, we were able to share different ones and get a variety! The couple next to us did order the large version and it was huge- definitely sharable as well. For dessert, we went with the hot apple crostata (crisp butter crust salted caramel swirl gelato) and I was not a fan.Apple desserts during fall are my go to and this one was fell extremely short. It was missing flavor-an addition of cinnamon and vanilla (and probably something else) would've served this dish well. The gelato, however, they should sell this by itself. I would buy it by the pint! Overall, definitely somewhere I would return to.

Have I really not reviewed Red Ash? What else is there to say, it's my favorite restaurant in all Of Austin!. The food is so insanely delicious. It has a fun, trendy vibe, and the service is usually on point. My most recent trip was a few weeks ago to celebrate my birthday. We had a group of girlfriends and we just feasted. Everything was spectacular. I will say, I was slightly disappointed by the size of the steak we ordered for the price--Came out to about five small pieces for over $80. Other than that, everything was amazing! The cocktails , food, appetizers, dessert-, you seriously can't go wrong here.

Wow! We heard from a friend how amazing this place was so naturally we had to try. First, we had to wait almost 3 months for our reservation. I'm so glad we found the patience. It is smaller than what I expected but it does have upstairs dining (still small area). We sat upstairs and after a bottle of wine hard to maneuver the stairs. Be carefulOur waitperson was an absolute delight. Wish I wrote down her name. EDIT: Her name is Emma! They were helpful and patient and very attentive. We were a party of 6 individuals. 1 Gin& Tonic and 2 bottles of wine later, we practically ordered as much of the menu as possible, including the aged Tomahawk steak. Melts in your mouth! Red Ash Chopped Salad was a winner as was the Octopus a la plancha, delicious. I had the Spaghetti Alla Chitarra, without the meatballs because lactose-intolerance. Pasta is handmade/homemade in shop and VERY good. Next time I will have the meatballs and suffer the consequences. Someone else has the Tagliolini with Fresh blue crab, they said it was yummy. Price tag was definitely on the high end. Overall well worth the dining experience. In my opinion, it is nice to splurge on a meal.

My dinner experience last night was nothing short of exceptional! Every morsel of the steak and pasta was a masterclass in flavor and texture. 30 day wet age - 10oz Beef Filet with fresh blue crab fonduta, wood grilled and sliced to perfection. Cacio e pepe spaghetti. Red Ash in Austin is pushing the boundaries of Italian cuisine.. make sure to add it to your bucket list!! We drive up there just to eat at this spot.. be sure to book your reservations well in advance, as they're always in high demand! Beautiful atmosphere and amazing service every time!

Wow!! Just wow! Had our team Christmas party here and please excuse the terrible pics as we were having too much fun and eating too much good food to take more pics!Beautiful restaurant, fantastic service and the food is phenomenal! We began with what is possibly the best garlic bread anywhere ! It was delicious!!Then I had the snapper crudo which was delicious, fresh and perfectly dressed! Finally - I am not a big pasta fan but the smaller plates of fresh pasta intrigued me, especially Bishops Hats with sage and brown butter ! It was one of the best pasta dishes of my life !CANNOT WAIT to return !!

I have no words! This is by far one of the best meals I've had in Austin this year! So many of my friends have been hyping this place up for years, and I never had a chance to visit until now. The sweet hostess also gave me and my partner Chef's Table seats last minute, which was so nice of her. We love these types of experiences, and they definitely help us decide what to order. We ordered the following:Small butter clams "oreganata style": 5/5 Incredible flavor and super fresh! Loved that all the clams had parmesan crusted on top, reminds me of the chargrilled oysters from ACME in NOLA. Wood roasted beef bone marrow: 5/5 So creamy and delicious! The garlic bread was so good and I loved dipping it in the bone marrow. Agnolotti alla piemontese: 5/5 I loved the flavor and texture of this. The braised beef and pork shoulder was so fine and made the pasta so creamy. Frutti di mare: 5/5 This was my favorite dish. It really blew me away! The pasta was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. All the seafood was fresh and tasty. Tiramisu: 5/5 Huge portion! I was so full but with reservations being so difficult to get, I knew I needed to try this. It's not too sweet and I really liked the light crumble topping. Our server was great and made a lot of good recommendations. Thanks for the fantastic experience! It's now a goal to have a monthly standing reservation so I can try everything on the menu!
