R&B's Steak and Fries

Dropped in to check out this spot with my two sons after a middle school basketball game. We were celebrating my youngest's 1st career game (7th grader) and his success. Why is this even relevant? I shared these details with the owners when we showed up (proud dad) and they immediately engaged with my son and 'big-up'd' him. The smile on his face was worth the stop on its own, but more than anything, their immediate engagement with my son was a great sign of the kind of good people they are and that likely would translate into the food they cook!I ordered a double meat cheesesteak with cheese whiz, onion, mushrooms, peppers, a side fries and a coke. My boys both ordered cheesesteaks with cheese whiz, onion, peppers, fries and water. First off, I ordered double meat because I assumed they were going to be skimpy on a regular order. WRONG! I would have been better off with a regular because my boys sandwiches were loaded. We all loved our cheesesteaks. Perfectly seasoned, shaved steak, and a great proportion of the add-ons. Honestly, what set the cheesesteaks off was the bread! Great crusty crunch on the outside and soft inside. The fries were crisp, and well seasoned. Hands down the best Philly Cheesesteak in Austin and great owners! We will be back!!!

So now that I live here I'm very skeptical of anything claiming to be East Coast.This food truck is the real deal! When Philly friends come to visit, I'll take them in a heartbeat. They have Whiz!!!! That's an A+!Absolutely yummy.Super nice people too.

The price is great, and it's legit. The new space is easy to get to and you can walk to a few bars nearby at the same time. The guys working are so nice and know their customers by name. You can't find a better cheesesteak in Austin. There's a lot of other food truck in the same lot. I got whiz w onion and bell pepper

All I can say is I am SHOOK. Cheesesteak with provolone and fries. 5/5. Fries are absolute perfection - shatteringly crisp outside with soft and mealy insides. Bread has good chew, meat is tender, perfectly portioned onion/mushroom/peppers. You will NOT be disappointed eating here. What are you waiting for?! Just go already!!! Use the mustard sauce!!!!!

Inside the food truck park next to Ramen Tatsu-ya - one of my favorites for the variety of trucks. I make a meal by ordering from a few trucks and I've been craving perfect fries. Sometimes you just want a krinkle, ya know? These are perfectly crispy and seasoned with salt and pepper. They also are the only reasonably priced fries on East 6th ($3.75 ... I'm not kidding that a few blocks down a side of fries is $8...). I'm a vegetarian so I haven't tried the sammies, but they looked amazing and a bonus: the staff was kind and my order was called out quickly.

Hands down the best place to get your cheesesteak fix in Austin. Others come close (Chicago WiseGuys in Round Rock and Jewboy Sub Shop come to mind) but don't quite hit the spot the way R&B's does. I mean they do just steak sandwiches (and fries), so their focus on excelling at a single product shows. Also you gotta get the wiz, c'mon...They are comparatively reasonably priced - about $11 pre-tax for cheesesteak with grilled onions+mushrooms+jalapeños - and they serve up perfectly seasoned ribeye every time. Give these folks your money, you won't be disappointed.Sidenote: as someone else pointed out before, one of the best logos ever too. Love it.

Great food, buuuuut.... They're never open. I mean, sure their truck might be open. But ordering from food delivery? It used to be consistent. But it hasn't been in about six months. It's constantly closed. Or they won't deliver until really late at night. Every time I really want to order from them, like always when I'm actually craving it in fact, it's closed. I had to take them off my Doordash and Ubereats favorites because I've accepted the fact at this point I'll never be able to order from them again. How it stays open on any day at this point is beyond me.

As an east coaster living in Austin over 12 years, I can promise you that this is the Best Cheesesteak in Austin. The fresh meat and combination of toppings took me back to another time. The trailer is easily accessible and the men working are pleasant and accommodating,only minutes for my walk-up order. The music playing helped create a nice ambiance. Keep up the good work!

Have you ever questioned why rent is so high in the city of Austin? Perhaps here is the key; round trip flight to Philly included in your monthly rent courtesy of the greatness going down at this truck; absolutely magnificent cheesesteaks served by even more magnificent people. Real deal amoroso rolls, a fire chop, fresh shaved TX ribeye, fresh veggies, top notch experience; i personally always get the hoagie with the lettuce tomato onion Mayo and banana peppers; double meat, double provolone, grilled jalapeños, bell peppers and onions; I can assure you it's the best sandwich I've ever had, every bite a small teleportation to another universe where all is right with the world; heaven if you will.Vibes are off the charts, music is the best, plus kindness and love just emanate from this little trailer. More than thrilled to support this small business, and i encourage all to do the same!

The place is dank and as authentic as u will get in Austin. If it says they are closed on any day besides Sunday/Monday, just call. They are open
