Visited here for my mom's 60th birthday and we had the best time! The food was delicious, our waiter was great and the ambiance was perfect. We had a table in the back so it wasn't loud, a party of about 8. Our waitress was super helpful and sweet. She took her time with us and didn't rush us. We got the bread and the spicy pizza as an appetizer. I got the truffle pasta and was expecting leftovers but ate every last bite. The chicken parmigiana and cesar salad were the table favorites. The restaurant is not big but the big artwork made it feel spacious. I loved the pizza oven and wine wall. I will come here again!!!

Some friends and I, five of us, ate here on a recent Friday with a 7:30PM reservation. Although the reservation was for outside, there was no problem accommodating our request for an inside table and we were seated immediately. Business was brisk, and took about 10min for a server to inquire about drinks. About 10min later drinks arrived. The Italian Margarita, made with Amaretto was delicious, however was served with too much salt for a short glass and with a lime garnish, which made no sense to me as an orange slice would seem more appropriate. I asked for one after my drink was brought to me and had to ask for it a second time. The garlic and oil bruschetta was delicious, and they also brought two baskets of artisan bread and some olive oil. The breads were delicious. The Chicken Picatta special was delicious, with chicken breast, linguini, capers, lemon, and a roasted vegetable mix. The bolognese had a beef/pork mixture, with the ratio higher on the beef. This dish was also well prepared and good, however the sauce was what I would consider 'thin', just as in the Chicken Parmigiana below. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana sub linguine for the spaghetti, they do not have penne, and it was a little disappointing but edible. The chicken was not crisp under the sauce, typically a result of too much sauce applied too soon and then the dish is reheated prior to serving, and the red sauce was thin and not with much flavor, not what I would consider 'hearty'. The proportions are ample, so we were too full for dessert but they do offer six or so flavors of gelato and an espresso type dessert. The ambience is old world Italian with cream colored walls reminiscent of Italian stucco with warm wood accents. There is a beautiful wood fired pizza oven in the back corner, and we could see the constant blaze inside as we ate, which added a nice cozy feel. The tables are heavy wooden rustic as are the chairs, so you get a real old world feel. The noise level in the restaurant is substantial, even before it filled up completely shortly after our arrival. If that bothers you, and weather permits you to sit outside in the cafe style metal chairs and tables, that might be a good option for you. The restaurant is right on Congress a block or two from the Capitol Building, and the streets were busy and vibrant and it was nice to walk around and see downtown. Overall, it was a good experience, a nice location, nice Italian feel inside and the food was pretty good. Prices are reasonable for downtown, so I think it's worth a try.

This is a great little place in downtown Austin, and we will definitely be back. My daughter found this place and wanted to come for her birthday. Got a Saturday night reservation (it was really dead downtown because it was Texas vs A&M night--I'm sure it is much busier on a typical weekend). Nice little spot very close to the Capitol. Got seated and taken care of by Sandra (who was great). It's a quaint place. We started with some bread, which was really the only disappointment of the evening. It was somewhat gummy, like it needed to be cooked just a little more, and it was served cold. Not sure why QG couldn't get a bread warmer and serve hot bread--it would be so much better. Lots of nice entrees to choose from on the menu, and also a lot of chalkboard specials, which I love. Ensures a nice variety for future visits. I ended up having the rigatoni truffle sausage, which was excellent. Pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was great. Nice portion size as well. Not skimpy, but not too much either. My daughter had a Margherita pizza, and my wife had the Montanara pizza. They both loved it, and I have to say, the pizza crust that I tasted was out of this world. I'll come back for a pizza. We were not going to do dessert, but Sandra brought my daughter a cannoli with a candle in it for her birthday. Very sweet of her, and the cannoli was really good. Met the owner on the way out - a very nice man. Told him how much we enjoyed it.

Came by Saturday evening for dinner. The restaurant was not busy at all. We were greeted and sat immediately. Lighting was a bit dim but made for a nice ambiance. Our server was very attentive and informative. We ordered the caprese salad which was good but I wish they hadn't added salt...For dinner my friend and I shared a margherita pizza which was very good. Perfect for sharing and a good size. My other friend got the carbonara pasta which she said was ok.

I don't know why I haven't written a review of Quattro Gatti Ristorante e Pizzeria. I have been coming here for several years now, although I am not a regular visitor every month - I have been here several times and every visit here has been exceptional and impressive. I believe my first visit was around 2014-ish. I was looking for something similar to a Cioppino and they has something along that lines. It was pricey but the quality was really good and made up for it. Small quaint place with a nice vibe to it and outside seating too. On my next visit I was looking for pizza, and walked in the early evening. I met the owner and we had a chat - he was a very nice guy, very passionate about his food and offering an authentic experience. Even though I wanted pizza he recommended a Gnocchi dish with a 4 cheese sauce. He sounded so convincing I pivoted, and so glad I did! Wow - that dish was so simple yet so complex in flavors and that was by far the creamiest most decadent cheese sauce I have ever experienced. I needed to take a nap as it was very rich, and just enough portions, and the gnocchi was so soft and quality good. This dish - I felt like I was experiencing Italy. I thanked him for his spot-on recommendation. I have come back for their brick oven pizzas, the mushroom is one of my faves here. I have had others too - but his dough is very soft and some chew to it. The ingredients are fresh and quality good. The taste is exceptional. I have been to a few similar places around Austin but they can be inconsistent in quality and portions, like going lighter on cheese and ingredients, but this place has always remained consistent. I can walk up to the bar and order my pizza to go. I remember talking to him during the pandemic, when restaurants were struggling. We were both in that "wait and see" phase and the unknown at that time. I am glad to see he has survived that and I visited a few times since the end of the pandemic and his quality has maintained - which was awesome. I often recommend his restaurant to those who ask for a superb Italian experience as I found that my other places do not measure up anymore and have unfortunately deteriorated. I was very happy to see they maintained the same level of quality ingredients and service too. This is my absolute go-to place for Italian in the Austin area that lives up to the hype.

I missed my reservation due to illness. The woman who called me was rude and belittling. We had visited numerous times before and I enjoyed the food and ambiance, but I'll never step foot in this place again. There are better Italian restaurants in Austin.

I cannot get over how amazing the pizza was here as well as the service. If I could give 100 stars, I would. I found this spot as I was the itinerary food planner for our Austin Texas trip. My boss thanked me for this one, it definitely exceeded our expectations. We made reservations to be safe but on a Tuesday evening around 7pm, it was hardly busy. There were plenty of tables open that evening and they also had larger tables to accommodate groups of around 8 or 10 (I would call in to be certain). We ordered the Margherita pizza, super simple pizza but the toppings and the dough especially made this so delicious. The dough had to be my favorite part. Was fresh and not too crunchy, soft in the right spots. We both ate the entire thing, it wasn't too heavy but a perfect size for two ladies. If I am ever in Austin again, I will make it a point to come back here again. Thank you for the great service and excellent dinner!

I REALLY enjoyed this place! I shockingly also have never heard of it but it's a bit further down on congress near the capital! outdoor and indoor seating was abundant and the staff there was so friendly. RIGATONI TRUFFLE SASUAGE DISH WAS TO DIE FOR! i'm going back next week to get it again - it was so rich and creamy and flavorful but not overwhelming and also had a great portion of sausage to make it one filling dish! we also got the burrata and prosciutto appetizer and it was so fresh. also a must get! The carbonara was really good too, but i'm telling you that rigatoni stole the show. I would highly highly recommend this place for their wines as well - the sav was got was fabulous! Can't wait to come back
