When I come here I get a trio of fried Oysters, shrimp and catfish. With a cold beer it's about as good as it gets and satisfies that fried seafood craving. It's very reliable and the setting is very casual. Service is always friendly.

Let's keep it real, if you like seafood and don't need fancy table cloths or bibs and such, this is going to be your new favorite spot. However there's a catch . . . They are only open on limited days however if you get in there, you appreciate the meal that you are having that you won't even be bothered by everything else. On this trip we came for oysters after calling around some of the chain restaurants to inquire about there's (overpriced) and settled in on the special which on the date of this review (10/10/24) gulf oysters were $1.25 each and I believe the eastern ones were $2.25 each. You can get them charbroiled but they are a little more ($4 each) but this is a steal compared to other places. We started off with a dozen (1/2 big tree Texas oysters & 1/2 gulf) and those were gone in a slash so we ordered a dozen more of the Gulf (as they were bigger and sweeter to us). They also had a fish special which we ordered as well as a fried catfish (senior) basket. All of this was washed down with a Cider and a Shandy which hit the spot. They also sell seafood, so if you are looking for something swordfish or a pint of shucked oysters to complete your meal, swing by and grab em. Seriously good eats and the staff are great too! Stop in and give it a try.

Just what the name implies! Quality Seafood is your place to get quality seafood in the middle of Texas, whether you're looking to dine in or cook it yourself. I've only ever dined in at Quality Seafood, and while I've done it a few times, I always enjoy it but feel a little disappointed too. I realized that their dine in options are a little boring compared to what we might be able to buy from the fishmonger side of things and prepare ourselves. Their kitchen seems to rely more heavily on their fryer than the seafood itself. When I dine in, the seafood is just an excuse to get their macaroni and cheese... which is technically spaghetti and cheese, but still some of the best mac and cheese in town.

Excellent food at a great price. Recommend the raw oysters and popcorn shrimp. Wash it down with a Modelo or Shiner Bock. Service is wonderful.

Food: 5/5 Quality Seafood may just have the best happy hour deal in Austin! $2 beers and $1.50 oysters are too hard to turn down. The fried oysters and hush puppies alongside mac and cheese are to die for as well. All of this and 4 beers for under $50 is such an insane deal and high quality at that!Service: 5/5 Jackie and Summer were so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Incredibly quick service and some great recommendations on the daily specials.Environment: 5/5 You'll feel like a regular here even on your first visit! This alone makes us excited to come back. Very clean and plenty of parking at peak hours as well.

As someone who grew up here in Austin, this business has been here for many decades. It continues to stand the test of time since 1938. However, as my memory takes me wayyyy back, I was reminded this place had more fresh seafood choices and less dining area. I was taken aback by the main seafood counter which was about only 12 feet in length and another smaller one next to it. Most larger grocery stores have a better selection. After looking around, I decided on a late lunch consisting of fried shrimp with two sides and a beer. Their coleslaw is very heavy on the mayo and their fries are good, but neither are very special. They do make their own cocktail sauce in house, but the six shrimp I got definitely were not even close to jumbo. To be honest, I've had a better shrimp basket at a tourist joint for less money. And yes, that tip screen starting at 18% will be waiting for you when you run your card. At least they definitely have some decent local craft beers on tap and in cans. They also have wine and beer to go. If you strip away the iconic mystique of this establishment, it is basically just a boring place to grab a beer and some seafood with a no frills ambience in an old building. Glad I came for this visit and mediocre meal, but there's really nothing that would bring me back here again. Some informative photos below.

I heard so many great things about quality seafood. I was so excited to stock up on fresh fish and what ever else I thought I would love. The parking lot is pretty large. Which is such a gem in Austin. Am I right? They are near the highway too, so easy to get to and easy to leave. Just zip right back on the highway. Quality Seafood is a market and a restaurant. They're attached. You can literally sit down and eat, order food, and order fresh market food to go. How convenient. As you walk in, the market is to your left and the restaurant is to your right. The bar sets them apart. The being in the middle. They have a long section displayed of fish on ice. They do have muscles as well. They sell beer and wine. And also some frozen foods too. Service was wonderful. I did ask a few questions, but for the most part, everything was labeled and basically straight forward. They do have Maine lobster, and I'm thrilled to see Maine. I don't buy anything that says "Northern Atlantic" has to say Maine. Maine has strikes catching guidelines. Good for us and good for the future of lobsters. A lot of fish is farmed raised. I was hoping for wild caught. Maybe it's just the season. Not a lot of wild caught fish in the winter months. I'm not sure. I did pick up Texas Brown Tail Shrimp. I think that's what they are called. The sign did say off the Coast of Texas. I did clean them up at home and cooked them for dinner that night. I used Gochujung Olive oil, which is a spicy olive oil and a little Coconut balsamic vinegar. The shrimp was outstanding. Took the flavors very well. Shrimp was soft and flavorful. Turned out to be a great dinner.
