Proper Sandos

GREAT sandwiches and even better service! So happy this Proper Hotel pop-up extended their stay through December 15. I've wanted to try their Japanese sandos since they opened in October, and could not recommend them enough. Our favorite was the pork katsu sando - the milk bread is deliciously soft, which meshes perfectly with the Berkshire loin's complex flavor and the tonkatsu and honey mustard sauces. The chicken katsu sando and tamago sando were also awesome. You can tell each ingredient is very high quality and that a lot of love was put into their menu. Proper Sandos perfectly fills the void of high quality Japanese sandos in Austin. Run don't walk to this pop-up!

Prices are a little high but food doesn't disappoint. Bread was soft. Both chicken and pork sandos were tender enough that you can completely bite thru the sandwich without tearing it apart. I really enjoyed the wagyu soba. Street parking or garage parking.

Stopped by Proper Sandos for lunch on a Saturday and while it was busy, there was minimal wait. You order at the counter then find seats - the space is small with limited seatings, so on a more crowded day finding a place to sit and eat might be hard. The good news is these sandos are good as carry outs, so you don't necessarily have to eat there.We tried the chicken sando, pork sando, duck soba, and ended the meal with the ube ice cream sandwich. The chicken sando was fresh so extra good, pork was decent, too. But the highlight for me was the duck soba. The broth is a perfect mix of dashi and yuzu, so if you're not a fan of yuzu, you might not like it as much. Ube ice cream sandwich had great flavors, but was a little too frozen/icy instead of creamy throughout. The brownie crust was definitely the best part.We got lucky with street parking close by, but for the location, parking can be challenging.Overall, we'd come back whenever convenient!

Had an incredible lunch at Proper Sandos! Proper sandos is located in the proper hotel near the library! It's a super nice that the sandos and sauces are packaged so you can easily make it a picnic in the beautiful surrounding green spaces! They also have a couple of seating options inside too. I always get the chicken and pork katsu sando! Both are really good and the sauces they come with help elevate the sando's to another tangy level! I'm usually not a sandwich person, but I def recommend this spot!

Fantastic Japanese sandos, definitely recommend. I got the katsu and the ube (dessert) and both were fantastic. Definitely pricey but really good quality, and they're only here for a limited time so I get it. I'll definitely return while they're still here.

Amazing! Phenomenal sandwich restaurant by famous twin brother chefs. Best sandwiches in town. Simplicity with great flavor. I got the Chicken Katsu (quality chicken/free-range) and the Nasu Sando (great for vegetarians, possibly vegan but I would ask). The love, patience and quality in making their food is expressed in each bite. I totally recommend this place. I drove from north Austin on a Saturday morning to try. I love Japanese cuisine. Get you a cup of coffee with the foam on top. Service was also great and was greeted with a smile by one of the chefs. The place is beautiful. I recommend if you're staying in the beautiful, luxurious Proper or you're living in town to try this place! If you're downtown during the day even better!Big Heart to you Sandos!(Billie)

save your coin. there is no reason a premade sandwich should be $25 and still be mid. it was just forgetful honestly. the best part is the pickle that comes on the side except it's criminal that you only get two pieces.
