Posse East

Posse East has incredible burgers. Old school burger joint vibes with solid sides, draft beer, and other options. My 11 yr old said, "best burger I've ever had!"

This is a very casual place on the UT campus. Order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. While we waited I perused the large selection of books and games on one wall. Food was good and husband really liked the thick onion rings. Decent selection of beer on tap.

Was looking for something new to me with a friend in town. Figured it'd be nice and quiet on a summer Monday afternoon. No problem finding parking!He had a giant burger with fries that looked amazing. I had the chicken fajita tacos and tots. Everyone was so nice and the food was fast and delicious! The patio is nice with the big fans blowing.

I somehow managed to never patronize Posse East while I was at UT. So while in Austin on a sunny winter day it seemed a good idea while on campus especially the óutdoor´ area is roofed but still sunny. I forgot how Austin feels kind of beachy with its balmy sunny weather and the infectious sunny disposition of locals. At Posse East, there is the other special element still around Austin - that backwoods red neck vibe. Posse East is literally a shack - with cheap beer and honky tonk vibe. It's not fabricated. Beer drinking guys kind of dominate the landscape ' but people come here to study too. I ordered the burger with tater tots and a Lone star. Beer is the real reason d-etre here, but the bar food isn't terrible. Come for the beer, stay for the atmosphere.

Excellent burger joint. No frills. Great for pre-gaming or a quick meal before a concert at Moody. Attentive staff. OG campus burger place. One of my regular stops as a college student and for tailgating.

Posse East has been in Austin for over 51 years and their burgers are classic. I got the cheeseburger and the patties looked hand shaped. The meat had a good mix so once cooked it was moist and beefy. I also liked how it was salted just right. There are too many places that just over salt their burgers or under salt them and over salting to me is worst. They also managed to balance the richness of the beef and fats so you didn't feel full at first bite but satisfied after finishing the burger. Just the right mix of Mayo and mustard. There is no need for ketchup on these burgers! The greens and the onions gave it a good texture. Wash it down with a beer and everything is all right.

If you know, you know. The Posse East is one of the best-kept secrets of old Austin. Founded by Dave Peck in the 1970s, this no-frills beer joint has held countless diehard UT fans gleaning on to the university's finest sports moments. The bartenders are no-nonsense but approachable, offering a wide variety of beers on tap. Best to go for a whole pitcher. Among their food menu, I'm partial to their cheese fries (exxxxxtra cheesy) and their chicken tacos. Whether it's to quaff a few pints after a competitive pickup game, or to study with a burger in a safe environment, the Posse East is the place to be.

Terrible. Made us wait and hour for cold nachos. The host and servers were beyond rude. Would not recommend.

Working in the area so I have been here twice. Burger was awesome. Today I had the Posse Salad. Portion was large, just what I needed. And it had good presentation not just thrown together. Check them out.
