Pro-Tip: Visit the South 1st location if you're looking to try Polvos for the first time. Barton Creek is convenient if you're going to be at the mall and want something other than mall food. We are fans of the original Polvos, on South 1st...ambiance and food. While the space here at the Barton Creek location is large, with lots of space for guests, the food just wasn't that great (and I even tried to do a nice presentation for a pic). The Burrito Goliath was not made as I remembered from the South 1st location. It was, however, large enough to be shared for two. Flavors reminded me of any other chain Mex/Tex-Mex restaurant. Miguel was charming and helpful with quick service. In fact, we did appreciate how well the staff seem to work together.

Disappointing ServiceI recently visited Polvos at Barton Creek and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. While I had heard positive things, I was disappointed by several issues: 1. Not an enough staff for coverage of the restaurant. Our party (reserved ahead of time by our host for 45 people and they did not prepare for coverage. 2. Only 1 Bartender and he was extremely rude. 3. Charges on the bill, such as Non Cash fee. I paid cash. He stated it was standard charge. 4. Food that was ordered, when arrive the server had to yell the out orders to the group in order for us get our food. 5. Staff did not honor prior arrangements with our host and continued to argue over charges. When asked for the GM. Twice they stated he was too busy to talk to us. I expected a higher level of service based on the restaurant's reputation. I hope the management addresses these concerns so that others don't have the same experience.Thank you for considering this feedback.

I stopped by with friends for a late lunch/early dinner prior to shopping. The food was delicious and the portion was just right. Service was great as our server was attentive. Ambiance is pretty laid back and chill - ideal spot for something low key. Overall solid experience.

We love this place so much I have to add another review. They have the most delicious salsa bar with pickled carrots, garlic, and cabbage. The interior of this Barton creek location is so beautiful and with the weather being nice the patio is open as well. We love to sit inside and enjoy the scenery. This location is less chaotic than the one on S. 1st St. with plenty of parking and plenty of seating. The hostess was really friendly and sad immediately. I love to get the Espadas with fish. All of the recipes seem to be very true to the original location and this location does not disappoint.

First time trying this location and haven't been to the original location in a while. Service was great. Food was similar as original location ( very good ). Prices are quite high. $93 for fajitas, tamales, one regular and one large margarita. Margaritas were disappointing. $30 for two drinks, did not taste like a margarita and nothing like those at original location ( unless it's since changed). No lime taste, not sweet, just tasteless and "earthy." Seemed to have wildly cheapened / lowered the marg ingredients. Why mess with a sure thing? Won't be returning.

Replacing probably one of my favorite joints is Polvos....Place is super clean, nice interior....Service was a bit lacking as we didnt even get a refill on our water/sodas. As for the food, it was pretty solid. Menu is unique, which we do like. We started with a order of Queso and with a quick trip to the Salsa bar...they offer 4 different versions along with a pickled vegg...which we passed on...just not our thing. Queso came with Ground beef and with a couple scoops of the Darker salsa, which had a great smoky flavor and a bit of heat...the Queso was firing on all cylinders...Its always fun with our GD in tow and she has branched out on menu selections and went with the Carne Guisada which was super tender in a great sauce and fresh flour tortillas...wife went with the street tacos...1/2 Al Pastor-1/2 Barbacoa...with all the fixins on the side...I did warn her that the Al Pastor probably would have pineapple in it, which it did...but even with a bit of picking she really enjoyed the tacos....personally the Barbacoa was my favorite. I went with the Guisada De Puerco...Pork was super tender, sauce was amazing....Rice was light and fluffy and the GD and I both agreed the Black Beans were the Bomb!...But the best thing about my dish?...My GD actually preferred mine over hers and it was her first time trying Any mexican dish with a Green Sauce base...She loved it! I do have to discuss the prices, as they are quit high....But we feel the portions are large (We all took leftovers home)...the food was quit good....yes service was a bit off but that is an easy fix...For us...totally worth it and overall a great experience... I would drop this place into a Special Event category....Birthdays, Date Night, Anniversary, Graduation, etc....But we will definitely be coming back to try a few other menu items. They also have a solid looking breakfast menu which would be a great way to start the famers market.

Came in for dinner and drinks after some shopping. I had the mijoto which was refreshing and bigger than I thought. And my husband had the Mexican martini, The enchilada fajita with green sauce was delicious and had some leftovers for later. My husband had the street tacos, and he liked them. We will be back for dinner and drinks.
