Péché - A Classic Austin Gem It's been a minute since we last visited Péché, and we're making it a point to revisit Austin's classic spots--this one definitely belongs on the list!We started dinner early and took advantage of happy hour pricing for our first drink. Shared a spread of appetizers: beef tartare, mac and cheese, chicken liver pâté tartine, fries, French onion soup, oysters, and mushroom croquettes--all absolutely delicious. Another cocktail (or two) later, we were fully reminded why this place has stood the test of time. The ambiance was lively, the service fun and engaging, and the whole experience was a delight. Péché is officially back in the rotation. A true Austin institution for a reason!

Unbelievable! You should go here! Service was excellent. The owner came out and had a great conversation with us and helped us pick out a cocktail to start our evening and it was amazing.! My son decided on the wild boar Ragu and I picked the tenderloin . Both were 10 out of 10... Like lick the plate good! It's not cheap to eat and drink here but you get what you pay for. It's worth every penny! I gave it five stars if I could give it six I would! Thank you for your hospitality, Robb from the Minnesota boys!

Had been years since dining here. Still impressed. Péché's has a NOLA/Prohibition days ambience. Recommend reserving a table during Happy Hour as they got busy pretty quick. Our server, Amanda, was amazing. Even when it was busy she was very attentive to our table. We opted to go with the bouillabaisse with clams, however asked if mussels could be substituted and were accommodated. It was my first time having bouillabaisse and I had been missing out. Absolutely tasty. The Spinach salad was a hit. The addition of cured bacon with the feta and red wine vinaigrette, made it very favorable indeed. The Soup De Jour, Potato Leek, was spot on. It complemented the salad very well. Sadly I did not take a photo . Lastly the Dessert. Banana's Foster. Can you say yummy. It was soooo bloody good. Was in dessert nirvana with this one haha. Yes it was that good. Rich, flavor, not overly sweet and the banana literally melts in your mouth. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Rob, who came to our table twice to see if everything was going well with the meal and service. That meant a lot to me as a patron, when the owner takes the time to visit with his clientele. Outstanding. My only suggestion, is perhaps add a few more drinks to the Happy Hour cocktails. Other than that, highly recommend Péché for their service, food and ambience. Again kudos to Amanda who took great care of us.

We came for a celebratory dinner, but were disappointed by the atmosphere, and the food did not quite meet expectations. On a Thursday night, the restaurant was largely empty, but we were still seated next to a table of six who were quite loud. Since the rest of the restaurant was empty, I do wish we had been placed somewhere else - once we were settled we did not care to move. We split the beet salad, bone marrow and frites, as well as the red fish. None of the dishes blew us away - the beet salad is spiralized so the beets are not cooked. The red fish was overcooked, but the bed of quinoa, onion, and spinach was tasty. The bone marrow had a nicer presentation, but the taste was not great. Additionally, the ketchup that accompanied the frites had beer in it - a creative twist, but something they should have informed us of, as I can be affected by gluten and would have liked to know this.

Péché prides itself as Austin's first absinthe bar, offering pre-Prohibition-style cocktails, while their food menu features French cuisine. The atmosphere is dark and mysterious, making you feel as though you've stepped into a hidden, secretive space. The prices can be on the higher side, so I highly recommend visiting during one of their many happy hours: Sunday and Monday all night, or Tuesday to Friday from 4-7 PM, where they offer an extensive menu. I ordered so many savory dishes at a great price. The food is rich and flavorful, but if you're not used to indulgent delicacies, it might be a bit overwhelming. For those ordering the escargot, I was hoping it would be served the way I had it in France (in the shell), but instead, they remove the snails and serve them in an escargot platter. It was a bit lackluster compared to the authenticity served in Paris.

Planning a double date night with friends led us to the charming Péché, a French restaurant in the heart of Austin. It turned out to be a fantastic choice! The ambiance is wonderfully intimate and dark, setting the stage for a cozy dinner experience that oozes charm. Our server was incredibly candid and exuded confidence in the quality of the restaurant's offerings--and he was absolutely right. He reassured us that Péché's bartenders could whip up virtually any drink we desired, which piqued my curiosity. I opted for a classic Arsenic and Old Lace, a cocktail I don't encounter frequently. With Péché's drink menu showcasing a strong focus on absinthe, I had high expectations. My drink did not disappoint--it was well-balanced and absolutely delicious. I also ordered on the menu with a Saturn, one of my favorites, which was equally delightful. For dinner, our server recommended some French classics like sweetbreads, though I wasn't feeling too adventurous. Instead, I went with the quail stuffed with goat cheese and peaches. It was both flavorful and moist, and I savored every bite. My friends were thrilled with their choices--one ordered the Iberian pork chop special and the other the beef cheeks. My partner decided on a steak, which arrived a tad overcooked (probably his fault for ordering medium), but the flavor made up for it.Overall, our dining experience at Péché was truly delightful. The intimate setting, impeccable service, and exceptional food and drinks made for a memorable night out. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy some expertly crafted cocktails and French cuisine, Péché should definitely be on your list!

Don't sleep on the happy hour at Peche especially all night on Monday! A selection of cocktails are $6 each and 10 or so food items are half off, currently the list includes the croque madame, the French onion soup, the salads, and a standout duck confit mac & cheese which is made with gruyere, just the right consistency and so so so yum. The burger is also listed for HH which I will go back for.The server was friendly and hustling, there was a good number of people in the restaurant. The setting is upscale but not stuffy, with a rightly dimmed lighting, and a semi-open kitchen. There is limited street parking but no valet specific to Peche.
