I loved this meeting space. I have attended several presentations there. It is upscale rustic, a few steps from the Convention Center, and the staff were terrific. The space is also quite flexible should you need audience seating, or just standing space.

I attended a wedding with the wedding reception to follow right there. It was a small wedding and worked out perfectly. After the wedding ended, the guest were to be outside enjoying cocktails and appetizers on the backside deck so the staff could prepare the inside for the reception. The bartenders really knew to make their drinks as they were good and strong. Pros: location, big bar area, nice dance floor, excellent waitstaff and bartenders, outside deck (not a really nice view though)Cons: small bathrooms (only 2 per ladies room!?!?), limited parking

Super charming venue and hidden downtown gem! I attended a wine tasting/harvest celebration at Palm Door on Sabine and found the space intimate and charming. The space back up to Waller Creek and has a patio overlooking the creek. The venue has a long handsome bar, gorgeous hard floors and airy feel to it. The venue is perfect for small weddings and other low key events.

Amazing! I couldn't have been more impressed. Recently, we attended a wedding reception at this venue. Everything was top notch. The atmosphere is charming. The waitstaff and bartender very professional and attentive. I also love that they had an outdoor area with elegantly decorated white tables. It was fun to dance our pants off and then step outside on beautiful deck to have a quick smoke and drink. If I ever need to have a reception downtown, then this is the place I will definitely choose.

Austin Pets Alive 3rd No-Kill Anniversary Party (whew, that was a mouthful) was held here last month. We attended and had a great time in this unique venue. Pink Avocado prepared the food and because there was an overabundance of gluten (yep, here I go again) the chef prepared some delicious sweet tater quinoa patties I was able to sample. There are some drawbacks to this venue if you are looking for a place for your soiree. It's located on Dirty 6th, so there's that. And then, there's the parking which is slim to none without a valet. Otherwise, if you can overlook the negatives, the layout works great for an event where there are separate areas to nosh, dance, sit and socialize.

My husband and I waited six years before we finally tied the knot. And looking back on it now, we can't imagine why we didn't do it sooner! We think most of it was because we simply needed to find the right people to work with. And Mariah at Palm Door is no exception. She's amazing and so easy to work with. We've always wanted a small wedding and I'd always imagined an outdoor setting. We loved Palm Door--it is, as they say, a blank canvas and we were able to do so much with it. Mariah totally helped us create our dream day. Not only did she understand what we wanted, she was able to put us in contact with our other vendors who made our day so much more than we could have ever imagined. She also knows how to put everyone at ease, which couldn't be more welcomed on a day when your nerves are kicking! Mariah and the team at Bird Dog Wedding were able to figure out a way for us to exchange vows outside and it was GORGEOUS!!!! There were about 70+ guests, so we had two rows of chairs for immediate family, while the rest of our friends and family stood just behind them and I have to say, it helped give the super relaxed feeling we were going for, while also remaining intimate. It was truly perfect. And inside was just as gorgeous as outside. We went with a family-style layout. It lent itself to the bohemian feel we were going for. Which brings me back to Mariah, once again--we couldn't have done any of this without her help and expertise. She helped us plan everything from the layout to the timeline. I really can't describe a more perfect wedding day and it made us realize why we'd waited so long. It was to get married here, at Palm Door--in the heart of my favorite city in the world. We are still in awe of just how beautiful everything was and will recommend this venue to anyone who wants to get married in Austin!!!

I attended a training seminar here yesterday. From the outside, it looks like it could be a small warehouse due to the corrugated metal siding, but it's painted in attractive colors and has a well-designed sign to match. Indoors, it's kind of like a converted barn meets industrial (large ventilation pipes, rough boards painted white) but it's done very well, and I can see it being a nice wedding venue.Their staff member in charge of setting up audio connections, etc. stuck around in case of difficulties, but he did his job right from the start, and there were none. The event offered a full breakfast, and they delivered. Potato, egg, and cheese or sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast tacos, mini bagels and cream cheese, mini veggie quiche, little buttermilk biscuits, and fresh fruit, along with coffee and orange juice, very tasty. The one drawback for me is that I was freezing. Now, I get cold easily, but I'm not exaggerating when I say that during the first break, everyone who could went and got a sweater or jacket from their car. Wish I'd brought mine.

I had never noticed this joint until a few days ago, when I went to see Wanda Jackson perform there for SXSW. The show was listed under "Beauty Bar / Palm Door", so naturally I went to the Beauty Bar expecting to see Wanda Jackson. A friend of ours commented that he thought BB was a weird venue of choice for the Queen of Rock and Roll to be performing at, and after thinking about it I had to agree. When we arrived at BB we were told that the venue was actually 4 blocks down the street at the Palm Door. Ok. Apparently it was a satellite venue for the Beauty Bar or something, and it seems as though this space is not a full-time venue, but a space that is rented out for weddings and other events. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the charm of the place. It is a nice open space, with a high wood beam ceiling, and a light-airy feel about it. The best thing, though, is that it is located right next to Waller Creek and has a deck overlooking the creek. Sipping drinks before the show on a beautiful Austin evening was a really nice way to kick off our SXSW experience this year. The acoustics inside were good, although there seemed to be some issues with the sound guy and Wanda Jackson was having some feedback issues. The show was awesome (with the exception of some incredibly rude out of towners who managed to piss everyone around them off, but that is a story for another time....), and the service at the bar was really good. There was even a cool little vintage cowboy boot sale going on in the back of the venue, which added to the charm of the show and gave the whole place a real old-timey Texas feel.

I had my wedding here in April and it was a great experience. I looked at countless less venues prior to finding out about the Palm Door. Their rates were affordable and the venue was perfect for what we were looking for. Unlike a lot of venues, you get the space for pretty much the entire day. I think it was for around 10 hours. Plenty of time for setting up, having the event and clean up.We had both the ceremony and reception here. The ceremony was held on the back deck. In the spring time all the trees were green so it looked really nice. Sara was great and made sure our wedding went smoothly. We never ran into a single problem and there were no hidden costs.
