This is the spot for Chicken and rice - albeit the Thai version. The fried chicken is so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And the poached chicken is so tender. The sauces are so delicious. And the chicken fat rice is addicting. The meal is just so homey and delicious, yet simple and won't make you feel too heavy. The fried pork belly is also way juicier than I expected. We tried the special - tom yum wings - and they didn't have any pictures so when it came out it wasn't what we expected at all. I thought it would be like just wings with Tom yum flavoring. But it was actually tom yum soup with wings inside! The soup was super flavorful but also a bit too spicy for my taste.

Cute little Thai spot. Great service. We ordered at the counter and then grabbed a table. We ordered the pig tongue salad to start along with the Khao Man Gai Combo and Khao Ka Moo.The salad was great with a lot of flavor. We also preferred the chicken fat rice and the fried chicken. The chicken was fried to perfection. Good portions. It was a fun tasting experience.

Fried and poached chicken combo with chicken fat rice: rice was delicous. The poached chicken was a bit boring compared to the fried one but the sauces that come with fix it right up. ($18)The restaurant is brightly colored and cozy and you order at the counter.

I remember P Thais when they were located inside Hong Kong Supermarket. Now at an actual restaurant location, Plenty of seating inside and some outdoor "patio" seating as well. The food comes out quick every time I've gone. The portion sizes I feel like slightly increased, which is great because the first two times I went I felt like it was overpriced for how little chicken they give you. The food itself is awesome, my go to is the Khao Man Gai combo. Their fried chicken skin is delicious as well. The boat noodles is solid if you're craving some soup noodles, but it's unique and not like other Asian soups from a flavor profile. I do love a good Thai iced tea, but have refrained from ordering since it $6 which imo overpriced for a glass of tea which will be half ice anyways. I'd say 4.5 stars out of 5.

I was in the area and decided to check P Thai's out. I loved the casual ambiance. Menu is relatively simple, but I decided to try the servers suggested item. I got the Khao Man Gai Combo, which was poached chicken and fried chicken over a bed of rice. I preferred the fried chicken over the poached to be honest. The sauce was the star of the show and without it, I'm not sure the chicken would be all that.

This Khao man gai is the Thai-style variation of Hainanaese chicken rice that I grew up eating in Taiwan from Singaporean/Malaysian influences. The difference, I think , is in the sauces where this style has a fermented bean chili ginger, while the Hainanese style im used to has either a soy sauce and chili dip, and Taiwanese people serve it with a ginger-scallion oil based sauce. The KEY is the texture of the chicken and the fragrance of the rice. There are two variations here which I ordered both, or you can get 1 order with a combination of both! The sauce for the fried khao man gai tod is a Thai sweet chili sauce. I would say I really feel the inflation with the portions and price but the texture of the chicken steamed khao man gai was perfect and I would definitely order it again. The rice had a subtle fragrance from the chicken drippings and I could do with even a little more aroma but it's pretty delicious already. The khao man gai tod was a bit drier compared to the steamed but still quite moist too. The soup served on the side for the chicken dishes was so on point. LOVE IT. A super fan of the boat noodles - so flavorful, spicy, and perfect. Also love the Thai tea!I love the growing popularity of different types of Asian food in Austin and I'm all for it

What a fun Thai spot in Austin! Really enjoyed the southeast Asian decor they've put in the restaurant, made for a neat experience. We tried the Khao Man Gai combo, pork belly and Khao Moo Dang. Both the poached chicken and fried chicken were exceptional in the combo, flavors really hit well. The pork belly was really good, tho a bit greasy by the time we finished the dish. The char siu/Chinese sausage combo was a surprise hit, we finished the entire plate with ease. Only wished the portion was a little bigger. We'll definitely return soon!

Had the Khao man gai combo which is the poached chicken and fried chicken with rice. Also had the fried pork belly. Everything was 10/10. Server recommended pouring sauce over the chicken on the rice and mixing together. Order first at the counter then seat yourself. They have indoor and outdoor covered seating.

Solid authentic Thai restaurant reminiscent of the small restaurants in Thailand.I got Khao Man Gai Tod with nam jim and my partner had moo deng. Really tastes just like a parent's cooking. Nam jim was sufficiently spicy and the food was delicious. I wish they gave more cucumbers to cut all that meatiness and rice, but it was nevertheless great. I would err it on the more expensive side. $16 for my khao man Gai Tod is a bit steep but there's not much around Austin to compare in price. The moo Deng is slightly more substantial and sits at an expected $18. Good food in a causal atmosphere. Could you get this for 1/4 of the price in Thailand? Yeah, but you're not in Thailand and you'd probably have to deal with the heat. A place I'd go again for sure though.

What an awesome experience of flavors. Came here for lunch and it was quite busy but plenty of space in the dining room.Ordered the khaki man gai combo, chicken skin, and boat noodles. The fried chicken tastes so juicy and not overly fried and floury. The other chicken was juicy and flavorful and the sauces paired so well. The rice was also amazingly moist. The chicken skin was so addicting I was eating it like chips and the noodles were flavorful and packed a spicy punch!Service was awesome and borough waters every so often. Will definitely come back!
