Ortega's Tacos

My first time here but I will definitely be back. I have lived in this area for a few years and keep passing by saying "one day I'll try their tacos". Finally, today was the day and I sure wish I would have tried this place sooner.Since moving to Texas from Southern Cal, I haven't found many places that have what I would call authentic tacos. I keep trying hoping to find that place and I just might have. They are located in a small food truck court off 71. Easy parking and they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your tacos fresh. I only ordered "street tacos" with Adobada; I didn't have to wait long and I did take them to-go since I don't live very far. When I got home, they were still fresh and warm. They were prepared in fresh corn tortillas (they do also offer flour) and there is quite a bit of meat. They came with lime wedges and some red & green sauce. Given my experience with other taco locations, I wasn't expecting much. But my first bite... I was surprised at how delicious they are. Most places I have been to, the meat tastes as though it has been warming in a metal bin for awhile and lacks freshness. But this meat was very fresh and delicious. Squeeze a little lime and add some of the green sauce and these tacos are epic!I ordered three and thought for sure I would end up throwing one or two of them out. But after eating two of them, I saved the third for my daughter but was tempted to eat it too. If the tacos are this good... I am sure the rest of the food must be great. I have had tacos from a few places in downtown Austin that are good, but it's a far drive to get them regularly. It's nice to know the best tacos I have tried since coming to Texas is quite close to me. And between the tacos I have had in Austin and Ortega's, I would choose Ortega's any day.Although they provided red sauce, if you like really spicy... use the green sauce. Like finding good tacos, it has been difficult to find good spicy taco sauce but their green sauce is going to make you sweat a little. Although I waited years to try, I'm glad I finally tried Ortega's and I will be back soon.

Hands down, best street taco shop in the Austin area that we've been to. Absolutely delicious. If I could give more stars I would. Every bite packed with flavor, the pastor with pineapple especially!! I personally am a big fan of pastor con piña so I'm so happy they offer that instead of charging extra for pineapple. Hubby loved the bistec and ortegas especiales, in his words the latter was "an adventure park in his mouth". Service was great, wasn't a long wait and woman working cashier was so kind and welcoming! Loved getting to enjoy the ambiance overlooking the hills with music and shaded seating area they offer. If you're in the area or want to try a new place, definitely stop by here!!

Best breakfast tacos in the area. I get the Ortega Especial with scrambled eggs instead of fried egg.

I cannot say enough about this place! I go for their breakfast platters because every single one is delicious. The ingredients are fresh, the plates full of flavor, and the owners are wonderful! I highly recommend you trying this gem!

Juan & Nelly Ortega have one of the best taco trailers around Austin! Their breakfast tacos are amazing! You've got to try their Ortega Taco or Migas tacos. Wow just amazing and so fresh!We also just had them cater our party for 50. They provided beef and chicken fajitas with all the fixings and they were the best we have ever had! Everything was prepared fresh and on time! I would highly recommend them for your next gathering. Everyone raved about the fajitas, fresh guacamole and those amazing tortillas! Thanks Juan and Nelly for making our event special with your amazing food!

If Ortega's had a breakfast taco throw down with God for best taco , Ortega's would win hands down ! I had the Ortega's special , and the egg Ala Mexicana and the best breakfast taco's i have EVER HAD !!! Life altering good !!

Easily the best tacos in west Travis County and maybe even a sleeper for the best in Austin.

Our family stopped by the Spicewood Food Truck/Court area today. We ate at Ortega's Tacos. We ordered: Ortega's Special tacos, Barbacoa tacos, Carne asada tacos and chilaquiles plate. They were all phenomenal and authentic, delicious food! The service was welcoming and patient, helpful while we decided what we wanted. Helped with custom order. They have a great space, shaded and can accommodate large groups. Will definitely be back to try more of their food options!
