My Granny's Kitchen

This truck occasionally comes to my work for lunch. I missed them the last time they were here but when I saw they were coming today I thought it was the perfect opportunity to check it out!!What I ended up with was a lackluster experience. My friend and I decided to split something because I also wanted to try their cobbler. She orders the meatloaf only to be told it isn't ready and will be a 20 minute wait. So, she ended up ordering the baked chicken and rice. I ordered a side of mac and cheese and some cobbler. The guy says they didn't make cobbler today. The cobbler was the main thing I wanted from this truck. The mac and cheese is ok, not creamy or cheesy, very peppery, a bit oily. I just feel kinda like it's missing something that would make it taste really good. It's like they decided it's a side, so why try. I ended up throwing half of it out because it was just too greasy for me :(You get a piece of cornbread complimentary with your order. I opened up the foil it was wrapped in and it was hard and crumbly. I don't often eat cornbread so I asked my friend if it's supposed to be dry. She said noooo, I'll take her word for it. She said the chicken she got was really good, but the rice was very salty. I don't know, when I hear a business is going to do some homestyle food, I expect it to taste homestyle. They aren't doing their granny justice, that much I know. I just feel like this is food you should really care about and this food felt like an afterthought entirely.

You can always add salt, but you can never take it away. I really, realy wanted to love this food. I like supporting local businesses, especially food trucks. Unfortunately, the pork chop was so salty, it ruined the flavor of everything else. The green beans were canned with no kick of flavor added, the mac and cheese was plain, and the corn bread was very dry. My co-worker said the meatloaf was okay, but also very salty. They didn't have a vegan options today (sad face from the girl in front of me in line), nor did they have the sweet tea I was looking forward to. Hopefully they will cut back on the sodium; I want to give it another try!

Cooped up in an office with non stop meetings from 8:30 to 5, and just a 30 minute break at lunch. But lordy, there's a soul food truck outside today, and in a few minutes I'm back in the next meeting, but now feasting on meatloaf, collard greens and taters. I could be picky and say the meatloaf is a little dense and could use more sauce, and the accompanying square of cornbread is underseasoned. But a dash of salt on the cornbread, and it's a dang happy meal. I'd go back and grab another plate anytime.

First time to Granny's Kitchen and this food truck location. I ordered Beef Tip with Rice and 2 sides Sweet Potatoes and Green Beans. It was all delicious!! I will come back to try the rest of her menu While I was here they started playing a family friendly movie when sun sets every Thursday!

I really wanted to like this. The Domain is doing a trail run for a food truck park and I was lucky that I didn't have to drive all the way to 12th street to try it. I read the reviews before deciding to go so I knew exactly what I wanted to order. The beef tips and rice seem to be a hit. The owner was there and even told me it was a good choice. I also ordered mac & cheese, cabbage, and greens. I was highly disappointed. The only thing I ate was the cabbage and half of the mac & cheese. Gave the rest to my brother and law, he even agree it wasn't good. The rice seemed under cooked, the beef tips was decent, mac & cheese was good but too much butter/oil, the greens were salty, corn bread was dry, and I enjoy the cabbage (no complaints there). Unfortunately, this will not be a place that I give a second chance.

For a quick lunch food truck, so so good!I ordered the beef tips with a side of green beans. It came out so fast, so bonus points for that! The beef tips were super tender and perfectly seasoned and so comforting on this cold January day. The rice was also perfect. I got the seasoned rice by special request (it's usually served on white) and it's a stand alone. It was a bit of a shame to put beef sauce on it. The green beans were also good but better with Louisiana Hot Sauce on it -which they have outside the trailer. I'll be watching for them from now on.

Omg! This place is great! The owner is super super nice and the pork chops just fall off the bone! This is a hidden treasure!

Miss Van is the owner of My Granny's Kitchen and she is one of the realest, most interesting people I have ever met. I loved my expirience with her food truck and the eating grounds are just amazing for any one wanting to go out for the night and enjoy being outside with a community of creative people. Come here and you WILL NOT regret it!

Great food! Authentic southern style yumminess! If I could eat here every day, I would. I have tried every menu item and they are all pretty solid. My fav is definitely chicken and dumplings.

The food was good but the customer service was horrible....even for a food truck. They were at the Juneteerh Celebratoon. It took over 20 minutes to order food (not because the lines were long but they didn't open for at least an hour after they said they would open). I stayed in line because folks kept telling me how "wonderful" the food was. After I ordered, it took nearly an hour to get my food. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles and it takes nearly an hour?? They kept saying the waffles were cooking, but the waffle machine waffle machine was broken or something. When I asked if II could substitute the waffles for another side, all they said was "the waffles are coming." Nearly can hour later, and the waffles were just average. No apology or anything for the extreme delay.I won't be going be going back. I consider customer service just as important as the taste and quality of the food.) For all the hype, My Granny's Kitchen is not worth the trouble.
