While waiting for a concert at ACL Live we decided to grab a drink at this spot, and we had a lovely time. The staff was exceptional, the beer was flavorful, and the experience was delightfulThe bar is well decorated, and makes you feel like you're stepping into a cozy yet trendy Belgium pub. There is also front and back patio seating if you want to enjoy your libations in the fresh Austin air There are dozens of beer to choose from. Many on tap, some bottles, and a variety of seasonal beers. It's also fun because they have so many different types of glassware, and they will give you exactly the glass you that works for whichever beer your order Some tips:Ask the bartender what they suggest. They are a wealth of knowledge, and they obviously take a lot of pride in their workCheers!

At 4 pm in the afternoon we were refused service by the pink haired bartender after she overheard our politically conservative conversation. We'd had one drink before we arrived and one there. 3 professionals in our 40's and 50's being refused service because of our political views is disgusting. We were told we needed to take ourselves elsewhere. Never going back as long as that witch can do that to customers ordering very expensive beers! Loved the decor and selection of beers that I wasn't allowed to drink. Appalling.

The beer selection here is very niche but wide within that niche. If you want some good, Belgian style beer in Austin, this is the place to go by a mile.

Driving through downtown Austin with a friend of mine looking for a good place to enjoy a beer or two. Imagine my surprise when I saw the Mort Subite sign. Saw it too late to stop initially, but kudos to my buddy for being willing to turn us around so we could have a proper look at the place.I should probably clarify (in case Yelp's description or your own prior research didn't already tip you off) that Mort Subite is a true Belgian beer bar. That means a couple things. Firstly, this is NOT the place for you if you're looking for something domestic. To emphasize the point, I should mention that my friend asked if they carry any Hefeweizen beers, which was met by mild reproach from the beer tender. They are, as the kids (probably used to) say, keeping it real. Of course, that wasn't a problem for me since I am a HUGE fan of Belgian beers. No I mean an absolute super fan. And fortunately we were able to find some decent options for my friend as well. The interior layout is definitely appropriate to the theming. Beautifully designed bar. Seating inside is somewhat limited but I was okay sitting outside anyway. A TV near the back but this wouldn't be the place to go if you want to watch your favorite US sports team I wouldn't think. We sat outside since the weather was decent and people-watched. Seats weren't super comfortable but fine for our purposes. I enjoyed a Kwak (or two - I wasn't driving :-)). For those of you new to the Kwak - check out my pictures. The beer originated from back in the days when one would roll up to the bar on horseback. The wooden holder for the oddly-shaped class would be used to set the drink (since having a glass shaped for a table-top would be less useful in that scenario). It's an amber beer that is super easy drinking for the fairly high gravity. So, if you like high-gravity (high-alcohol content) beers that are actually palatable, I recommend you give this place a try.

My fiancé had to stop by after she saw the Brasserie d'achouffe beer sign. She said she never seen this beer in the states and reminded her time in Europe. I can't blame her the beer was pretty tasty! The bar was also nice and clear which was a nice hangout spot on a hot summer day. All paired well with the beers and awesome tunes they had playing.

We came for the food truck out back but had a Kvak and Duvel. it's hard to find parking in most downtowns, but there's a lot right next door. This is now one of my favorite locations in all of Austin.

Heck yeah! Found a quad on tap, my favorite beer by La Trappe. This place is cozy with a food truck out back. The service is great. Nice and chill when we visited. We didn't get to try the food truck, definitely next time.

I was in from out of town to run the marathon. I did the half. I'm very much a craft beer guy, and I noticed this place when I was checking things out the day before the race. I showed up at about opening after the race. The bartender was MJ. She was very nice, but that wasn't the most important thing. She was super intelligent about the beers. I wasn't real smart about Belgian beers, but she knew everything about all the beers they had. The best thing is that they had all these beautiful Belgian beers on draft. And in branded glasses for each beer. They had a food truck too. Man, if I lived in Austin I'd be Norm from Cheers. If I could give 8 stars I would.
