What a great new spot in the triangle! We actually visited the area for another restaurant and ended up seeing this one and walking in. It's a very small restaurant so I'm sure at times there's a wait. Everything we tried was delicious. Highlights for us were the steamed egg with ground pork, the XIAO Long Bao, and the stir fried chicken noodle. So so good!! Service was incredibly quick and attentive. We'll definitely be back when in the area.

This place was okay in my opinion. My husband and I came on a Friday night. There's a tablet when you walk in to add yourself to the waitlist. There were a few open tables, but we opted for the bar. At the bar, you can see the chefs hand make all of the dumplings! You order online via a QR code and the food will be delivered to you. This concept is strange, since you can't pay through the app. It took awhile for us to flag a waiter to pay because by 7:30pm, Mian & Bao was packed! I could also tell the kitchen was backed up, with tons of dishes waiting to be served. The food is okay in my option. I thought the dumpling wrappers were very thick. When we ordered the pan-fried pork dumplings, the pork was uncooked! The chicken katsu was very thin, and mostly fried. I think my favorite dish was the Spicy Wonton Dumplings.

This place is generally pretty good! The soup dumplings have a good flavor and soupiness is great! The downside is that they are too large so it takes multiple bites to eat AND the spoons are too small so it's hard to carefully eat without the soup spilling everywhere. The crispy bottom are a stand out as well definitely worth ordering!Spicy wontons are ok, order if you are craving. Not as good as din tai fung - which we don't even have anyways lol

THE BIG: Noodle spot inside the Triangle of Central Austin. Beautiful interior with yellow chinese lamps and glass walls peering into the kitchen. Parking garage available.THE BLACK AND WHITE: We went here on a Friday night at 6pm and when we left, it was packed! You have to put your name down on the ipad at the front and then you're seated. We were seated on the bar and you order everything through the website via a QR code. We got the xiao long bao, bok choy, chili wonton, purple sweet potato cheese roll, pan fried pork/shrimp bun, chicken cutlet. Everything was just good. However what turned me off was when we got the pan fried pork/shrimp bun, it was RAW... The waitress got us another order, but it took another 30 minutes to get our food. The xiao long baos are huge, but lack the rich soup flavor youd typically find in a quality soup dumpling. Chicken cutlet was thin and dry. The best dish was the bok choy. Nice and fragrant with the garlic and ginger. Otherwise, all other dishes came up short for me.THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, this place is alright. We spent around $70 for six dishes and the flavors were mid.

Amazing spot for good, quick eats. Didn't order the Beef Noodle soup nor Dan Dan noodles, but they are consistent winners as well. My third time here and I will be back! I also tried the fruit tea this visit and I would recommend it, but get light ice. Yum!

Saw this on TikTok and wanted to try it out! The XLB was amazing, they were the biggest I've ever seen lol but packed with so much flavor. The meat inside was tender and went so well with the sauce they provided. We also ordered chili oil wontons (not pictured) which were just as good. I would definitely come back for the XLB! Ambiance was nice and the prices were reasonable. You have to scan the QR code to access the menu and order through the website. After you are done ordering and eating, they will bring you your check. Perfect for introverts lol.

Lovely Chinese restaurant. 5 stars for Austin Asian food standard :))We came with a large party of 9, they dont do reservation so its a walk in and put your name on the list. Total wait was maybe 15-20 mins. It was busy on a Saturday night and same on Monday lunch time when I came back.Dishes were really flavorful with the exception of xiao long bao aka soup dumplings and fried soup dumplings - these were a no go lol, quite bland. The good stuffsSmall dishes/appetizers:- Marinated cucumbers 7.5/10- Tofu and thousand year egg 8/10- Beef roll 7/10- Chily oil dumplings 8/10- steamed egg: I didnt try but bf liked itEntrees- Spicy beef noodles 7/10 (very oily even tho taste was good, beef was soft but gets stuck to your teeth quite bad lol)- The chengdu zajiang noodles was tasty, very garlic and spice forward though so beware 7.5/10You ordered everything on your phone and each table shares the same running tab. Overall quite efficient and service was swift. I like this place and would come back here.

I've had Xiao Long Bao in Guangzhou, NYC, LA, SF, Chicago, and Trader Joe's. And these rank above the Trader Joe's. They were decent enough, but nothing to write home about. Big issues were: no chili or any spicy was available. No soy or other sauce options like most anywhere else. Just ginger and vinegar. You'll see there's a soy sauce thing but that's as for the pork. Also the soup spoon was super small, so they couldn't properly hold the liquid from them. Only 1 type (pork)Xiao Long Bao: 3.5/5Pork cutlet: 1.5/5. - yo wtf was this. Too thin. Dry. They have me ketchup?? In the picture on the QR code you order from shows a sweet chili looking sauce and lettuce etc.. kinds like Japanese pork katsu, but this was just bad. Iced fruit Tea: 5/5

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mian & Bao, and I was thoroughly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Chinese food experience. Here are some of the things I loved about Mian & Bao: * The food was cooked to perfection. It was soft and chewy, and it had just the right amount of flavor. * The toppings were fresh and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup, the Soup Dumplings, and the Dan Dan Noodles. * The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing. The restaurant has a beautiful zen garden in the back, which is the perfect place to enjoy your meal. * The staff was very friendly and attentive. They were always happy to answer any questions I had about the menu.Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Mian & Bao. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Chinese food experience.

An influencer raves about this place, but I don't get the hype. Some dishes were greasy/oily. The only standout for me was the pan-fried pork buns--everything else was just okay. However, the service was exceptionally friendly. The payment process is a bit unusual--you order through your phone on their website, but you still receive a physical bill and can't pay online. That said, the prices are reasonable.
