Prompt service and recommendation for the Porchetta sandwich which was very enjoyable! Would definitely come again.Stayed here and worked for a few hours as well. Relaxed and not too busy mid afternoon!

I couldn't decide between the buffalo chicken or meatball... so I got both! The sandwiches itself were good, easy recommend with the meatball sub having a slight edge. I believe there are breadcrumbs inside the sandwich so you get a double crunch. What really elevates Meat & Bread is the sambal and mustard that's served along side each sandwich. Doesn't taste like anything I've had before but really makes a difference

I've always wanted to try Meat & Bread, so when working downtown one day I had the perfect opportunity to pick it up for lunch - and I'm glad I did! I placed an order online for pick up and walked over to get it. The restaurant is quite small, positioned across from Intelligentsia, JuiceLand, and Hestia. Since it was my first time ordering, I went for their popular picks: the classic porchetta and the meatball. The sandwiches run from $10-$16 for the sandwich alone, and you can add sides, dips, and drinks. A bit pricy for some, but worth it in my opinion. Service was excellent, and you can watch them making the sandwiches through the glass. Flavor-wise, the sandwiches were fantastic. Generously filled with meat, excellent flavor all around, and finger-licking good. The porchetta is delightful, and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it as much as I did. The meatball is more basic but elevated and delicious! Overall, I think it's worth dropping in and I would definitely visit again when in the mood for a good, meaty sandwich.

Good!! Sandwiches were filling but not heavy. We got the porchetta and buffalo chicken sandwiches, but I loved the porchetta. Decent pricing, casual environment, and service was friendly. Go try!

Meat & bread is one of my favourite sandwich restaurants here in Austin. Came here quite often during lunch break since it's very convenient for me. I had their steak frites today and really enjoyed it! The steak is pretty soft with crispy chips. I highly recommend their red sauce bc it really adds flavour to the sandwich. Had their Porchetta and meatballs sandwiches before and both are delicious! The staff are really friendly and food comes out quickly as well.

Oh yes. Yesterday was my second visit to Meat & Bread and let me tell you: the staff here were even more cheerful than last time. It means a lot to me when people working at an establishment are warm, engaging and even slightly curious, and I feel the folks here are 100% authentic. As a person that works mostly freelance and dines alone often, these interactions often make my day brighter. The sandwiches they are serving up here are wonderful as well. On my first visit I got the porchetta and it was remarkable. A strong offering to say the least & I highly recommend it. Yesterday it was pretty cold and I went with the suggestion of one of the owners and got the meatball sandwich but served "grilled cheese" style. Kind of like a very succulent and decadent panini style and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The food is delectable and the enthusiasm of the owners and staff speaks for itself. I can't wait to try the soups and will be back soon. This place is a great value and nourishes the soul as well as the body.

Austin's best kept secret of a sandwich spot. I usually don't like to share secrets but because they're so tucked away, and their (most literal) name makes them difficult to search, I feel like Meat and Bread often overlooked as one of the most legit sandwich spots in town. With that said, their porchetta sandwich is to die for. (For one, I don't think there is another spot in town that even serves this.) The moist (yes I said moist) roast pork is evenly chopped and tastes so rich with the added crunch from the crispy pork skin, supported by their perfectly baked ciabatta bread... chefs kiss. 10/10 recommend.

This place should be called bread & bread. There was no meat in my sandwich.I was very excited to try Meat&Bread. It had been on my list for a while and I was finally ready to take the plunge. I ordered a salad and a sandwich for pick up.I had heard good things and really wanted to like it, and, man, was I disappointed when I opened it up at home.1 - everything was smaller than expected - I included a fork for scale in my photo. For $36, I expected a little more food from a takeout place. If this is a large kale salad, I can't even fathom what the small is like!2 - to say the the chicken salad was sparse is an understatement. For a $14 sandwich, I expected more than 2 oz of chicken in a pile of mayonnaise. I should have gotten the Italian or porchetta.3 - not only was there a lack of chicken in the chicken salad, but the flavor or the chicken salad was highly unusual. I can be a fan of unusual but this was not a good unusual. I didn't eat the sandwich. I only eat carbs on special occasions and this sandwich did not meet the qualification for diverging from my typical diet. The kale salad was delectable with meatballs added but by no means a large salad. Small or even regular perhaps, but it should not be called large.

Meat & Bread is a modern sandwich shop on a quiet downtown cul-de-sac, with seating inside in a light-filled space or else outside on their small patio.Small menu but everything was assembled with care using quality ingredients and packed with flavor. Our porchetta sandwich - juicy roast pork, crispy crackling skin, salsa verde - was really tasty. The asado sandwich - braised beef, arugula, chimichurri sauce - was equally delicious. I do wish they would be a little more generous with their meat fillings. Both sandwiches had ingredients assembled mainly in the middle, leaving front and back ends to be mostly bread.

Had the porchetta sandwich. Terrific . In particular the bread was perfectly crunchy. It is pricey but the quality is worth it..
