A co-worker mentioned this place was open and since its super close I darted over. I had the black garlic ramen and it was tasty. The broth is really well balanced. The toppings were generous and the price was on point. I'll definitely be going back and if you're in the area and craving a quick ramen fix on your lunch break you should also. The thing that most impressed me here was how well packaged the ramen was for take out. I grabbed my bag and didn't spill so much as a drop on the bumpy car ride home. I'm usually on the fence about to go Ramen and there's another place in town that I've had to go Ramen from and every time I order there I can never get the noodles unstuck by the time it gets back home, That was totally not a problem here.Kudos Matsuba, you made my lunch very happy!

Best Chicken Paitan I've had in Austin! The service members were really kind and gave me a ramune for free! They also have a nice sticker that tells you how to warm up the broth if you order takeout. Will definitely order from them again!

Matsuba Ramen is one of those Japanese places that could easily compete in any of the major west coast markets, where the Japanese are most concentrated in the USA. The only issue for us, aside from the cost, is the texture of things like noodles, takoyaki, and karaage does change from pickup to home. But all the flavors are on point. Highly recommended - for Japanese ramen, head and shoulders in deep flavors above certain more famous ramen chains in the Austin metro.

This is hands down with no exaggeration the BEST ramen in Austin. If you come across this review please take it upon yourself to try this place. Husband and I chose the Tokyo ramen w/ pork chashu- it was topped with bamboo shoots, green onions and of course the pork. It was incredible from the start to the end. The service was quick and the staff was incredible, if I could I would give them 10 stars!

Since my favorite Ramen shop in our town in Japan shut down in 2020, I haven't found anything close especially after moving back to Texas. I've tried every Ramen shop in Austin and never had the urge to go back again until I found this one. When I heard it just opened I had to try with, high expectations of course. The Ramen was real and natural and since I didn't get a headache from the soup afterwards, must be top notch natural ingredients. Scarfed down the Ramen before I could take a picture. It was beautiful. I had to also try the beef bowl which is also very authentic and delicious. Meat was high quality as well. With barely enough room to try the takoyaki, I had one piece and it was perfect. Sorry. I'm kicking myself for not taking a photo of the Ramen. Next time. Keep in mind you have to go to window 7 if you want to order in person. You get a text when your food is ready for pickup. The sitting area is an outside patio. Currently the hours open at 5. I don't do door dash, but looks like there is a pickup option for deliveries.

I tried theToridashi - Black ramen, I wasn't impressed! My daughter ordered the same and thought that it was missing something and she asked for some chili sauce and they wanted to charge $1.50, so she declined. It was bad enough that it didn't come with an egg which would've been an additional $2 each. I wasn't crazy about the plastic bowl the ramen came in (bpa) conscience. We had to order with the QR code link even at the window. Was definitely not impressed with this process. I also tried the Karaage which was good but not good enough for me to come back until they have an actual restaurant if that ever happens. The total was $48.71 including one Dorayaki (honey pancake)

I recently ordered take-out from Matsuba Ramen, and I'm beyond impressed! Living over 5 miles away from the location, I wasn't sure how the food would hold up during delivery, but everything arrived at the perfect temperature. The Toridashi-Matsuba was excellent - the broth, noodles and the chicken were outstanding -- the best I've had in Austin. I also ordered the Shrimp Shumai (6 pieces per order) which were still piping hot and perfectly textured. The packaging was smart and really kept the food fresh. You can tell that the chef is all about their craft and gives immense attention to detail. My order was definitely more than enough for one person, but I'm a fan of leftovers, so another win there. Highly recommend!!
