We sure enjoy working our way through the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints. This one sure did not disappoint! We ordered bbq to go and ordered one pound of delicious brisket and one quarter pound of brisket burnt ends along with a pint each of potato salad and pinto beans. The meat was very yummy but can I just say that the homemade pinto beans were outstanding? They tasted like the most delicious ranch style beans that you have EVER tried! They were very good. I simply loved the old building and smoke covered EVERYTHING within this amazing bbq joint! I highly recommend this place!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. You have been officially warned so if you choose to try this place anyway that is on you. Where do I even start. 1. The ordering was an absolute nightmare. The lady taking the orders was so incredibly rude. She expects you to spit out what you want fast so quickly figure it out and be sure to rapid fire or be prepared to hear "AND?" Rudely and repetitively until you are done. Also, you are expected to know exactly which fountain drink you plan to get yourself (why in the world she needs to know this is ridiculous) so go check out the fountain drinks before ordering. You then move along to the cashier but do not dare try to pay until your food is ready. Just awkwardly stand around until they call your name. Then decide if you want to hold your trays while trying to pay or leave it there, pay and then get the food. Ok so once you get through that weird ordeal oh and it's worth mentioning the guy taking your money also has a bad attitude so you get to double down in case the lady wasn't bad enough. 2. The food was an absolute 100% letdown. I will post a pic so you can see how thin the brisket was cut. This isn't lunch meat or a Philly cheesesteak. You do not cut brisket like this. PERIOD. It definitely seemed like it was reheated. No smoke, no flavor at all. Onto the frito pie. This is shredded cheese on top of Fritos with pieces of brisket. It was so freaking dry and the cheese is not even melted so this was again a complete waste of money. We also had a baked potato with brisket. Super basic, nothing special at all. The brisket was dry and tough. The 3 meat plate was a joke. You pay $4 extra for this terrible brisket, get 1 pork rib and some sausage. The sides were just as lackluster. I am honestly shocked this place is still in business with this quality of food and service. I get it's a small town and options are limited but the people of Taylor deserve so much better. Keep on driving there are much better options ahead.

It's ok. Nothing to write home about. Not impressed really. Won't be going back. Cost way too much.

Super cool place in a rustic downtown area. I seeped inside about 1:00 and was afraid they may be sold out, but found they were still fully stocked. I was behind a group of 8 that I followed through the counter service line. It moved fast and efficiently. The lady taking the orders appeared to be the straw boss keeping everything and everyone on track. Food was up on 5 minutes, and I carried it and my self serve drink to my table after paying. I only got brisket, pickles, and onions. I wanted a beef rib, but found the price higher than I wanted to spend on lunch. The brisket was good, but not the best I've ever had. I asked for moist, but received lean. The seasoning was good, but not great. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area.

I drove three hours to get here for lunch. It was well worth the trip! I love the old school BBQ joint look and feel. Not fancy. It doesn't need to nor should it be. The staff couldn't have been any more awesome. They were patient with me while I couldn't make my damn mind up. So I got what o usually do. Brisket, a mix of lean and fatty. This was God damn on point! Couldn't have been any better. Pulled pork. Juicy, tender and tasty. Jalapeño link. Great flavor and not a lot of heat. I like it hot and this didn't anger me. Frito pie. Divine! Fritos, chopped brisket, pinto beans and cheese. I topped it with the spicier of the two sauces and it was perfect! I was told to leave the tray on the table when I was done. So glad I got here to check another off the bucket list!

Wanted to try a new place for barbecue and a friend recommended this place. The meat was definitely good. I had the pork ribs. The seasoning on them was minimal but it worked for just enough flavor. I would definitely get them again. There was a sauce that came with it that was kinda thin and I didn't like that but the sauce in the bottle on the tables was perfect. Sweet and tangy. The side dishes left something to be desired but that's the case with most barbecue places. Salt Licks aren't any better. I had macaroni and potato salad. The service was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. They were out of a lot of things but we arrived an hour before close. There's plenty of parking on the side and ample tables. Even if you have a large party, you should be good.

Hands-down my favorite BBQ joint. I'm extremely picky about BBQ. I grew up in Austin, and visit every couple of years. Every time I drive out here just to get BBQ. I have four great uncles that have owned BBQ restaurants. I smoke my own in Seattle (Since it's the only way to get good BBQ there.), and have been tending pits since I was 4. Every time I've been here everything has been perfect. Everyone here is super nice, helpful, and just plain awesome. My general preference for BBQ is Brisket, Sausage, then everything else. Here the beef rib is king. Absolutely the best.Save a little room for the peach cobbler with ice cream. Seriously worth it. I forgot to take a picture of it because I ate it too fast. Not so secret: If you're worried about them running out of something before you go, call ahead.

Ordered catering from a group of 50 for pickup and the experience was phenomenal. Everything was fresh, the service was very fast, and it was amazing to have such fresh food catered for such a large group, especially BBQ.

Friendly service & delicious BBQ! Walk through the door to the fragrance of heavenly smoked meats. Enjoyed the pulled pork, chicken, both sausages, Mac 'n Cheese, and potato salad. The wet brisket was a religious experience. I heard angels singing.

This used to be my favorite place to get BBQ, but things have changed. The Jalapeno sausages are still excellent. But the moist brisket wasn't moist at all. It was dry, and bland. I actually had to add salt to it, which is something you don't do to good BBQ.
